When you were a kid what was your favorite candy bar or treat?
What was your favoret candy bar or treet? :icon_wink:
Oh Henry!
Sky Bars were tops but if they were not available, 3 Musketeers. I think we used to pay 5 cents for them......but that was a few years back.
Gummy Bears. Still love em but have to be from Germany. The American brand not quite right although Hasbo is close. Otherwise, fruit -- a rare commodity in the early 50's overseas.
Penny candies especially strawberry liquorice and chocolate.
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, but it felt like such a waste to spend a whole nickel on something that was gone in 2 bites!
I liked the penny candy too. I grew up in Philly and there were corner stores on every corner! I went for MaryJane's, the waxed bottles with juice in them and my favorite were the dots on the long strips of paper!
I liked Black Jacks.. pink black and white square taffy..
I grew up a Catholic and all the boys in town (including me) liked Necco wafers. We used them to practice distributing Communion to each other since we were all convinced we'd be priests someday.

I opened this thread finally!
You can make music on this whistle! I can't say the texture is palatable, but I would love to pick out a tune on one today. There was a candy stand near the elementary school. |
At Christmas it was Italian almond nuggets topped with a wafer

Wow, what a response to this thread! I can't believe none of you selected those coconut flat chewy candies that were white pink and brown! They still sell them in places.
The sugar dots for a penny on a strip of paper from the little store across from school in the first grade (by the way, could not stop there in kindergarten, since the pastor of our parish did not believe kindergarten was good for kids)!!
