Texas Roadhouse

The unmentionable online newspaper has a piece on Texas Roadhouse Restaurant coming to the Sam's area. Should be fun!

Dr Winston O Boogie jr 11-14-2014 07:35 AM

I used to eat at one just outside of Boston. Great food and a fun atmosphere if you're in the mood. Can be loud and annoying if you're not. But the steaks are excellent.

Sandtrap328 11-14-2014 07:45 AM

I have eaten at them before. Very much like Cody's. It will be a good addition to that area.

OBXNana 11-14-2014 08:55 AM

Feel like I am missing out on a secret...

Off topic, but would someone please PM me with the name of the unmentionable online newspaper?!? Frequently, there is a reference and I'd like to know what I'm missing.

Check out their menu. Their only steak advertised as USDA "choice" grade is their sirloin. They say it's their most popular. That makes sense since the rest of their steaks are obviously of a grade less than "choice". So the rest of their steaks are graded "select" at best, and possibly even a lower grade. Doubt they'll qualify as excellent.

I rarely comment on the restaurant topics because everyone's taste is different, but we frequent all the chain steakhouses (Outback, Longhorn, Cody's, etc etc) but we LOVE the taste of Texas Roadhouse steaks compared to the others. Their steaks must be a different cut or maybe they just don't load them with seasoning like most chains to camouflage the quality of the cut, but their steaks are the closest thing to great steaks cooked on our grill. We always stop at Texas Roadhouse in Ocoee when returning from trips to Orlando. Prices are actually about $1 less for filets and strips (which we always order) vs Outback, Longhorn prices. They must be choice cuts. Honestly, I would pay more for their steaks. Take a 45 ride to Ocoee and try them. Just my opinion.

Bonny 11-14-2014 11:34 AM

I've eaten in their restaurants before. They are good. It's another good option of where to eat. As long as I don't have to cook it, it's all good ! ;)

There's more info on The Gourmet Club's website HERE.
It's not a done-deal yet. The town will require "impact requirements" I'm sure.

TV can always use another good reasonable price restaurant. I like the Outback and they have steak and lobster for 14.95 right now---a good deal!

This won't be golf cart accessible but who cares?

tedquick 11-14-2014 04:13 PM

There was a Texas Roadhouse in Omaha where we just moved from. My wife was always pleased with her sirloin and I always ordered the "road kill", which is nothing more than hamburger steak. While Nebraska is rightly known for its beef, we felt the Roadhouse was one of the best-priced places around in which to eat.

The20Percent 11-14-2014 06:26 PM

I have paid double the price for streaks in fancy steak houses and have not received near the great tasting steak as Texas Roadhouse cooks! Order the 10 or 12 ounce Ribeye and you will see what I mean. We have three of them in Knoxville alone and its one restaurant we have really missed when we stay in The Villages. We are thrilled to hear they are opening here!

I agree - their ribeyes are great!

Yes, I am also looking forward to eating the road kill. It's always a little surprise inside the crispy crust, isn't it?

Texas Roadhouse was our Favorite Steakhouse in the last town we lived in and they have many other great meals on their menu. They were the "steak house of choice" for me and my wife. I hope they make it to the area!

Jullie 11-23-2014 10:34 AM

Cannot wait to welcome Texas Roadhouse in TV. Good food/service. Had one in our hometown and ate there 1-2 times a week.

2newyorkers 11-23-2014 12:03 PM

We have eaten in many Texas Roadhouses thru the country and have never been disappointed. There is also one in Wesley Chapel.

NYGUY 11-23-2014 09:49 PM

Have been to the Texas Roadhouse in the Tampa area and found their steaks to be a notch above the typical mid-range chain steak joints. On the down side, they seemed to cater to kids (families) as well as sending their bartenders to the Mr. Rogers school of mixology (we didn't go often)!!

kaydee 11-23-2014 10:21 PM

Pretty sure there is a Texas Roadhouse in Ocala on 17 in front of Target.

There is a Logan's and a Cody's in Ocala. Don't believe they have a Texas Roadhouse.

By the time it gets to the table, the "crispy" is gone as the cooked onions, cheese and mushrooms (minus the cheese and mushrooms) have softened the crusty exterior. The buns with their special butter would be worth the entire cost by itself. I have never had dessert. If I have any room left at all, which is very rare, I just ask for another platter of buns.

There was a Roadhouse Inn there (best flatiron steak for miles!) but it closed about 5 years ago - they did not advertise at all. A real shame.

OldManTime 11-24-2014 08:39 AM

I went to the one in Lake City, fla, i was impressed.

BeetleBailey 11-25-2014 10:17 AM

There is one in Gainesville, Fl. and it's great. We have eaten there twice, but it is about an hours drive. There are 3 in Dayton ,Ohio & their all good. Hope they put one here as they should do very well.

Bruiser1 11-25-2014 02:54 PM

There is one on Archer Road in Gainesville. Hand cut steaks and fall off the bone ribs are two of their standbys.

The American Cuisine chain is currently one of the two fastest growing franchises in the country. The market for the product must be successful as they are growing in all parts of the country.

2catsmeow 11-25-2014 03:02 PM

I just wish they were going to be on 466 or 466a instead of across the street from Outback and Longhorn......

We have two Texas Roadhouses by our other home in Melbourne. Not only good food, but they are also strong supporters of public education.

Happinow 12-24-2014 09:05 PM

Texas Roadhouse

On another thread, I read that some want a Texas Roadhouse to come to TV. I had never eaten at one before until tonight. I had their ribs and potato skins and both were very tastey. Hubby had a steak and baked potato and a salad, which he says was very good as well. They gave us hot rolls and cinnamon honey butter which was great. As a first time customer, they also offered us samples of their mashed potatoes, corn, green beans and chili. We didn't ask for it, it was what they did for all new customers. If one comes to TV we will be frequent customers.

Lady L_Commissioner_Ward4 12-25-2014 07:22 AM

Texas Roadhouse has been approved by the Lady Lake Commission, and we should see it up and running in about 9 months or so. It is to be located between Sams Club and the Lady Lake Town hall on 441. Stein Mart also approved, will be located in the parcel behind McDonalds in Lady Lake.

ROCKETMAN 12-25-2014 08:28 AM

Texas roadhouse is very similiar to codys including the peanuts on the floor. Most of them don't have happy hours as good as codys and no entertainment.

OldManTime 12-25-2014 08:34 AM

Rocket man, it just might be that there success throughout the USA, is because they don't have happy hours, and entertainment….just good food!

Does not have peanut shells on the floor they have a bucket on the table for you to put the shells in

Love Texas Roadhouse.

John_W 12-25-2014 10:59 AM

We went to the JC Penny store in Clermont last week and out front was a Texas Roadhouse. We turned into the parking lot in hopes of getting lunch. Unfortunately they don't open until 4pm on weekdays. I know Outback use to be the same until about six months ago and I noticed the one here started to open for lunch. Hopefully with all the stores around the new Lady Lake Roadhouse location they'll consider opening earlier.

Just saw this post. So excited. Will go next chance we get. Thanks!

KYDIANA12 01-27-2015 12:25 PM

So glad that Texas Roadhouse is building a restaurant here. We really like their steaks and find their prices to be very reasonable. We have gone to their newest one in Clermont and it was great. If you are going use the call ahead seating and they really do get you in quick with that service. Longhorn here in the Villages is always packed and yet they have empty tables inside - don't understand that! Texas Roadhouse will give them relief when they open.

Two buckets per table - one full of peanuts in shells and one for shells?

.

gerryann 01-27-2015 04:37 PM

Codys is more natural food. No MSG
Texas Roadhouse has MSG in everything.
