"Loyalty Cards"

I was at Belle Glade Country Club last Saturday night and an employee was circulating around all the tables selling "Loyalty Cards" for all four country clubs and Scooples managed by Fred Kampour. We were told if we purchased a loyalty card we could call up to 24 hours before we were to visit a restaurant to make a reservation. What a great idea since Snow Bird Season is upon us!!! Of course we jumped at the chance to buy one. We could partake in drink specials as well. As it turns out we made a reservation for Orange Blossom Country Club and went there for dinner tonight. When we arrived for our reservation we were greeted and seated at our awaiting table. On the way to the table the hostess told us that the loyalty card could not longer be used for reservations but instead we could call on our way to the restaurant and let them know we were coming. We will not be guaranteed a table but instead we may have a shorter wait upon arrival. Seems that now that Fred has our money the rules have changed. It seems to be a bait and switch to me. Has anyone else experienced this change??

Why not personally talk to Fred Kampour and tell him exactly what happened and how you now feel?

I would bet that you would get your $20 back with no problem as well as an apology.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

If you go to their website, you will find there's a lot of "fine" print associated with those loyalty cards. For instance, to receive the $15 visit reward, you have to go to one of the restaurants 20 times in in month. The month (and visit frequency) starts over at the first of every month. So, you would have to visit one of the 5 locations 5 times per week, roughly. Two visits to the same restaurant on the same doesn't count...has to be two different locations.

Here are the FAQ's for the cards:

Loyal Tee Rewards

I think it's crazy! They are Villages CC's and we are already card carrying Villagers...enough said. What's next? Loyalty cards for the Rec Centers or pickle ball courts? I get that this time of year it's hard to get seated when we'd like, but that's the nature of the beast. I would never pay them for "call ahead" seating. There are plenty of other good places to eat. My opinion.

Oh...didn't realize there were other "perks" involved. Still, it doesn't sound like there is enough value in it to interest me.

keithwand 12-14-2014 09:24 AM

40 meals a month for a $50.00 credit?
How about an assigned parking space for chump of the month!

jim1941 12-14-2014 09:25 AM

Also....In order for the visit to count, you must spend at least $10.

Having read the FAQs, I am actually insulted and will not patronize a single one of those establishments again as long as they are under the same management.

Why was this even mentioned?
The CC restaurants are private business's. It has nothing to do with the amenity's of Rec Centers or pickle ball courts.

FlamingoFlo 12-14-2014 09:49 AM

I read about the cards and decided the offer would not work for us but it sure won't stop me from going to the restaurants. It is a sales promo that you can choose to buy into or not.

Sandtrap328 12-14-2014 10:17 AM

Wow! I just read the FAQs of the LoyalTee card. No way am I going to a restaurant that often for such a chinchy reward. 20 times in one month for a $15 reward!! Ridiculous. And it is a $20 per year fee? Are you kidding me?

One of the few non emotional factual responses. It's a Loyalty card. If you don't go to one of the establishments frequently, it's not for you. If you do, the drink specials alone can just about pay for the card in a month or two. Nothing wrong with the offer.

TomOB 12-14-2014 10:56 AM

I didn't buy the card because it didn't work for me. I did enjoy my meal. It certainly won't stop me from eating at these restaurants. I go at off peak times and frequently eat at the bar so reservations are not a problem. I don't have to go out to eat with my 25 best friends every night. What worries me is one person leasing 4 Country Clubs and a restaurant. If anything happens to him...

I am certain he has a Succession Plan in place. The Loyalty Card and offers like it never interest m because essentially it is based on a contract. I can tell you the number of contract disputes I was involved in over my corporate life.
As attorneys say contracts were made to be broken. No thanks

RetiredInTV 12-14-2014 11:41 AM

A further insult to our intelligence: there are 2 spelling errors in the first paragraph of the FAQs.

FlamingoFlo 12-14-2014 11:49 AM

Why is it an insult to our intelligence and not a simple honest mistake?

MSGirl 12-14-2014 11:54 AM

So what exactly are the perks of the card? I saw a print ad with $3 margaritas with the loyal tee card. Are they no longer offering $3 margaritas to anyone? Not seeing the value yet of this card. Anyone else see the value?

yabbadu 12-14-2014 12:35 PM

What strikes me as oddity in this whole program is that I must PAY them to be loyal to them!

I can see some value in being able to make reservations at four country club restaurants in high season.
However call-ahead dining is very different - it usually means call and wait.
There are a lot of good restaurants in TV. At this time of year, many offer $100 gift cards with a bonus $20 "free" card to the purchaser.

keithwand 12-14-2014 01:57 PM

Purchased 2 $100.00 gift cards from Cody's and got $20.00 extra for each.
20 percent return!
Purchased $50.00 gift card from Ricchiardis and got an extra $10.00.
Received a $100.00 gift card from Bone Fish.
Guess where we will be dining.
Lopez which includes Hemingways has a $20.00 Loyalty card which does not expire and includes 10 percent off at lunch.
We have already gotten free food that covered the fee.

villages07 12-14-2014 02:03 PM

One FAQ they didn't answer....so, you have a loyal tee card and treat your fellow golfers to the December special of $1.50 draft beer.... As long as the cardholder is paying are the special drink prices applicable to everyone in the group or just to the one cardholder? The credit perk wasn't that enticing...I was thinking of getting the card for the promised drink and food specials.

Bogie Shooter 12-14-2014 02:10 PM

Spelling errors...........much ado about nothing.

It sounds like mary amelia was either given incorrect information to entice her to buy the card, or the reservation perks were subsequently removed. Both seem like sketchy business practices to me.

blue72 12-14-2014 02:17 PM

We bought the card. We will certainly make the $20.00 back on drink price discounts throughout the year.
I didn't know about the Lopez card, we now will consider that one too.
Thanks:clap2:

Great business decision on owners end.

raynan 12-14-2014 09:54 PM

There are $1.50 draft beers for the month of Dec. Every month there'll be a different special for loyalty card holders and the benefit of reservations for 4 or more, especially during high season, were what made me buy the card. The monthly discount specials will sometimes be for food and sometimes for drinks. I thought it was worth a try. We have more than paid for the card with Lopez several times over. If Fred's card is not worth it, I won't buy it again.

NYGUY 12-14-2014 10:27 PM

there is no excuse for spelling or punctuation errors.
Period!

I am in 100% agreement with you. :agree:

The fact that this is called a "Loyalty Card" is outrageous.
No -- it isn't outrageous; it's insulting!

Thanks for that info. I just saw the full page ad in The Sun for five venues: ie: Evans Prarie, Bonifay, OBG, Belle Glade & Scooples. They offer a $10.00 gift certificate when you purchase $100.00 in gift cards. Uhmn! Doesn't quite compare so favorably! :pepper2:

If you eat out often and /or if you are a drinker than such cards offer some financial relief.

don_from_wayne 12-21-2014 05:50 PM

The concept that there is a loyalty club amongst villagers is offensive. Offer a member discount, but loyalty, I dont think so. Now I will ask and walk out on any venue that offers such a discount

Deep BREATHS....It is just a sales gimmick.

"Loyalty Cards"

Fred obviously paid attention during his marketing courses in his MBA program.

What is it they say: "Any press is good press." I'm uncertain why so many are in a twit over this. Just don't buy it.

Well, I guess you will not be enjoying the delicious food at Lopez or Hemingway. They share a loyalty card. Your loss.
