Once again
Twice today I have had to talk to irresponsible, inconsiderate pet owners that think it is perfectly OK to use my lawn as a toilet for their dogs. One owner said it was only pee, but pee will kill parts of my lawn as fast as the poop will. Hopefully this post will help to awaken other pet owners to realize this is not OK

Gosh, I hope this thread doesn't go up to a hundred posts......again. |

I realize the OP is frustrated and rightly so. However to reach the widest number of residents that currently live in TV, a better solution might be to write a letter to the editor of the Daily Sun or to the editor of the online newspaper . |
Okey, dokey, here we go ! :wine: :D
|
OP, please let me know where you are so I can avoid the area when walking my dog. Responsible owner pick up the dog doo but there is not much you can do about the pee. Should the just pee in the street?
|
You should avoid any and all areas that are not your private property. If it means that they pee in the street and you don't want them to pee in your yard, so be it.

The street is public, NOT private property, as the o.p.'s lawn is. What's his is not yours! |
Dogs do love those corner yards don't they? It's sort of like a two for one happy hour!

We need more dog parks. Dogs needs to be exercised and taken for walks. There is only one small dog park provided for all the dogs between CR 466 and 466A, which is ridiculous. It's on a hill behind the Bonita Fire Station. It's small, hard to navigate because it's on a hill, and sometimes it's closed during the day. More dog parks would be beneficial to people owning dogs. And they would also benefit non-dog owners who don't want to see those pesky mutts anywhere near their lawns (and I don't blame them at all). We take our dogs daily to a private dog park and we're happy to pay for that, but not everyone is. |
I have no comment. I'm just trying to jack up the number of posts. Let's go for a new record!

One thing I have found out about living here is that just before dementia sets in people get very cranky and constantly looking for faults in other people or something to complain about!
For the amount of dogs that live in the villages you would think our lawns would be ruined but as I drive around in TV it is not the case at all! It is beautiful here! |
poop theads are good to run up your post count. And TOTV

I bet poop post are NUMBER ONE one the forum.

OK - I'll add to the number here. Our dog goes mostly in our yard but occasionally someone else's on a walk. I have yet to find one shred of evidence that her pee has in anyway caused a problem. We do have a small dog.

Maybe the next time I will take a picture of the offenders and post it on TOTV for everyone to see.

Why don't you try posting a picture at your neighborhood postal station? That could win you a lot of friends.:pepper2: |
I just love a good poop thread.
I hate when my dogs get loose every morning, you all put too much toxic nonsense on your lawns-it's just not healthy. I would rather have healthy dogs than look at perfect lawns. |
I've heard all before.................................:popcorn::p opcorn:

It's not your lawn.

Sadly, there are inconsiderate dog owners who allow their pets to befoul neighborhood lawns. Equally sad is that legally it's not your lawn in most cases. If you will look at your purchase papers you will find that your property line is not at the street. In most cases the first 12 or 15 feet between the edge of the street and your property line is part of the roadway right-of-way. Although you are expected to maintain the lawn, it is not yours. You have no standing to charge a person in this area with trespassing. People can ignore your complaints, so why bother? |
Try as we might, our small dog won't poop on demand. Most times she pee's good at home, so when she walks, maybe 1 or 2 drops come out-of-her for her to let other dogs know she's been there. We ALWAYS pick-up #2 when it unexpectantly happens when out on a walk. I think there's a saying "____ happens". We're not irresponsible dog owners but our little doggie just doesn't let-us-in on her schedule.

Ditto here on that. Out little guy does most of his business at home (outside). BUT HE loves the walk around our block and 80% of the time when he lifts his leg, it's dry - just how dogs are...marking territory etc. He loves to sniff others scents. Same when we bring him to the Postal Station. Much of his lifts are dry ones. Also, as mentioned here - when one looks at lawns either the 'private' or the TV common areas next to curbs/streets or the Postal areas etc - I tend to see no obvious yellow marks or such. I DO not respect those owners that DO NOT pick up or allow their dogs to do work 10' beyond the curbs - but those seem to be the minority. I hate to be grouped with them - we ALWAYS pick up; have bag at the ready, and minimize the public places for our little guy. I have some don't-likes too - such as following gas carts into tunnels, bad drivers, hoggy restaurant patrons, loud folks, smokers, etc etc etc. That's life and live with it. Getting a verbal Forum coronary fit does nothing but make one bitter and rile up the usual suspects here,. And tends to Yada-up the forum. But - that said, do respect your right to voice these matters. yet once again. |
When her one or two drops come out it marks her territory on my property. Every other dog in the neighborhood now wants to come and sniff and deposit on that spot. If they are kept on a 6 foot leash you are supposed to be in control of the dog. Keep them 6 feet from my property and I have no problem.
If using the rational of Carl in Tampa is correct that the first 10 feet is part of the right of way then he shouldn't mind if I go park my car on his lawn. |

The first thing that needs to be stopped is the retractable leash released to whatever length the dog desires. Control the dog and keep it close, not extended to yards. |

The most important problem dog pee creates is that the owner does not want it on his lawn. I would suggest the owner could come pee on your lawn, might not damage the grass but you may not care to have it happen. And The Google seems to think dog urine does damage lawns https://www.google.com/search?q=lawn...oe=&gws_rd=ssl |

It is quite easy to understand not wanting dog poop in your yard. It is nasty. I do realize it is your private property but you do live in a community and everyone should have a little patience with those around them. Pets are a very important part of many of our residents lives including mine. You can't clean up pee and some pets just won't go in the street. I find it sad that this troubles you so. I hate to think I am about to move to an area where I can't even walk my dog without grumbling as we do the best we can to clean up after them. I guess in such a close neighborhood there will always be differences of opinion. Seeing the constant grumbling on this subject is disappointing.
I have already been in the yard an had a dog walker leave their mess in the yard. I simply asked them directly and politely to please clean up after their pets. This will be the last post I will do or read on this subject. I prefer to lead a positive life and hope to encourage others to do so living in harmony. |
