Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
: Obama in Afghanistan OK folks, here it is...... the straight dope on Senator Obama. This letter was sent to me by a friend in Springville , UT who got it from her friend who has a son serving in Afghanistan . This is her son's e-mail telling about Obama's appearance in Bagram Afghanistan the other day. I'll let his letter speak for itself. I don't know if you saw him shooting hoops on the news while he was there, but here's the other side of the coin as it was observed first hand by an American soldier ----- Forwarded Message ---- Hello everyone, As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to 'The War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram. As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the Clam Shell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service. So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you. I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States . I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country. If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake. In service, CPT Jeffrey S. According to snopes.com, this story is false. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/afghanistan.asp |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
I wish that TOTV members would take a few minutes to check on the authenticity of articles, links and videos they post. Regardless of your political stance, it really damages your credibility (and that of your cause) to post false information.

(Sigh) Yet another false story on Obama. Haven't we had enough already? Get a grip people.

Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
Well, this gem of mis-information comes from the poster who said "Enjoy and then think deeply what language you want your kids to learn a few years from now. Personally I prefer English to Muslim."
Someone who thinks Muslim is a language obviously isn't on top of things. |

We'll just wait and see how it turns out in November. __________________________________________________ ______________________ Right....hey you made up your mind and are voting the way you want...that is democracy. My problem is that never in history has there been anyone that made it to the candidacy for the US Presidency with such very very questionble mentors, advisors and associates. Anyone else would have been "vetted" out of the race. From a first job with Saul Alinsky an unabashed radical socialist (who Obama refers to as one of largest influences) to associations with folks like William Ayers of the Weatherman radical group of the 60's to Rev Wright and others it reads like a ficton piece about a radical left wing guy who by the way just received the ringing endorsement of the American Communist Party. Hey...if elected and he should be simply based on the current climate, he may do great but what this country does NOT NEED is any further movement left and with Obama we will be going far left as fast as he can get us there ! |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
Hope it is ok if I add to my post....
First everything I said is fully accurate and verifiable :) Secondly, please read the current Obama sponsored bill before Congress right now...the Global Poverty act which will cost this country if passed something like 450,000,000,000 dollars (yeah that is the right amount of zeros)....and also please read his quotes about "reallocating the worlds resources".....if that does not smack of the birth of communism in Russia..... Ok...will go away :) |

Harry, you're beating a dead horse here. This is an old smear campaign that's going around the internet, just changing names on the letter. If you buy this, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.
Bucco, I never judge people on their associations. I grew up in Chicago and I know you can meet, and for a time, associate with all kinds of people in a metropolitan area. With that said, I go back to my original statement. I never judge people by their associations. I'm sure if we dug into every politician's previous associations, no one would ever get elected. I venture to say that would include you and me. Senator Obama had been under more microscopes than most. I like what I see. You might not. We'll just agree to disagree. That's the American way. :#1: |

Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
I don't and shouldn't reply to this but I have no choice. First about Obama, he says change you can believe in. What is he going to change, what good has he done what positive productive change for the American people has he done. He is to new to the block to be president. Don't get me wrong I am not promoting McCain but he does have cooperative friends in office on his side. With Obama I think the next four years the US will stop,(remember Jimmy Carter) sorry Jimmy. When you go to the polls in Nov.and vote for Obama sing a song God Bless America it my be the last time you will be allowed to. Do you really knew what Obama stands for, I don't, at least we can look at McCain's history and have a good idea what he is. Personally I wouldn't vote for either one but I will take the lessor of the two evils. After all McCain's wife has a beer distributership, they can't be all bad. Start singing the song I mentioned till Nov. and think about what you can trust. Obama is going after the college kids, the young people, didn't we all think we knew everything then.

Dancer , We know who your going to vote for(for the twentieth time) but why do you have to call names? DDuogs opinion may be heart felt and as important as any one else's. Why is it Drivel? Bnej
|
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
Benj
Drivel is defined as "to talk stupid and carelessly". DDoug alluded to the fact Obama would apparently ban singing God Bless America if he was elected and that's the section of his post Dance referenced. That specific statement by DDOug clearly meets the definition of drivel as it is stupid. In addition, Travel didn't "call names". Never said he was stupid, just the comment. But I guess one could jump to that conclusion based upon the drivel that was posted. |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
I did not realize that Obama's political platform included banning God Bless America. Wow, you learn something new every day on this site. As long as he is at it, I hope he adds the song "Feelings" and the song "Memories" from Cats to the list. I can't stand those songs.

Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
There are so many posts on totv about how welcoming and respectful and tolorant to others views this forum should be ,yet whenever someone questions Lord Obamas view its drivel. I dont know how you can say that DDOUGS view is drivel since you can not articulate one single policy Obama has for America other than change and hope. I guess if drivel is talking stupid and carelessly then everything I have heard from Lord Obama is drivel. 57 states anyone? IMHO Benj

Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
It has become the norm to criticize anyone who says ANYTHING about Sen Obama as a racist, stupid, not able to understand, narrow minded or whatever and that is beginning to wear a bit thin. Seems the "shots" taken at Sen McCain...well, they are ok...just fine.
I do not support either as I consider them weak candidates....I do not think if Sen Obama is elected we cannot sing God Bless America. I believe that should Sen Obama be elected with a Democratic congress we are going lickedly split to a very socialist government where the Government will decide who succeeds and loses...free enterprise out the window. He is a socialist thinker....not someone who acts much....cant think of anything he has done...a great orater who has had ALL of his training with extremist. ALL OF IT. Again, it is getting old this constant defense of Sen Obama....I will take someone who has served this country both in peace and war and who I know...albeit I dont agree with him on many issues...over someone who was absolutely trained in socialism/marixism and has NO record on which to make a judgement. |

Online Posts: 421 Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from: benj on Today at 04:49:39 PM 57 states anyone? IMHO Benj Don't even begin that argument, you'd lose for sure. McCain has had many, many serious gaffs that make one question his mental capacity. And you better read more carefully. NO one questioned Senator Obama's ideas or plans for the country. Someone did, however, come out with a ludicrous statement that has no basis in fact regarding banning of a song in America. We are very tolerant if people want to discuss the issues. If they want to make up lies and spread them around on the internet they are going to hear about it. __________________________________________________ _______________- You question Sen McCains "mental capacity" for what you call gaffs ? But Sen Obama can train with known marxists, have mentors that are socialists and that is ok ? Amazing ! Want to talk ISSUES..ok.....Sen Obama has before Congress right now a Global Poverty Act, the cost of which is about 450,000,000,000 (YES that many zeros)...it calls for you and me to feed the world (nice thought on the surface) but he has said that he wants to "reallocate the worlds resources"...does that sound scary to you ? Reallocate the worlds resources is very famaliar...remember the old USSR ? Lets discuss this act first and then go issue by issue. I said I dont agree with Sen McCain on a lot of things, but given Sen Obama's total lack of any achievments and his marxist background...well, I dont want to live the rest of my life paying for anyone else...I dont want to be taxed through the roof. Ready for another issue...he talks about the profits of oil companies and how he will tax them more....read some facts on this issue. The NET PROFIT for Exxon is lower than most companies in the US.and that includes Microsoft. If we use his thinking on the oil companies we should be taxing Microsoft ! I will be glad to discuss issues but in my opinion the background and character of the candidate is an issue. NEVER BEFORE do I recall a candidate for President of the US having such strong marxist ties...socialist training and you cannot mention it or you are some kind of racist. If anyone else in political life at this level had that background he/she would be overrun, plus he has zero accomplishments. So please bring on the issue...I cannot defend Sen McCain on some but will surely allow discussions of ISSUES...just dont tell me or anyone that the character, background and training of a candidat is also not an issue ! |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
Dancer
There you go again. You question McCains mental capacity?. And your right no one questions Lord Obama's ideas or plans because no one knows what they are. Are you the one who also questions Bush's mental capacity too? Seems like all republican politicians are pretty dumb to you, thats a pretty open minded point of view. And by the way how do you know that DDOUGS thesis is a lie? We are all just guessing about what may happen if Lord Obama is elected Benj |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
Benj, it's really juvenile to insist on calling Senator Obama, "Lord Obama". You don't hear me calling McCain "McLame" or "McBush" or "McSenile" . :o
OK, here's the deal. Our country is in a mess. Whether you want to believe that or not. McCain has been in government for 26 years helping to build that mess. Senator Obama is an intelligent, articulate man that offers people hope and change. This country needs hope and change. And it is my belief, Obama will deliver. IMHO he is a breath of fresh air. People fear change. But that is exactly what we need. It would be worth your while to really listen to Obama, instead of wasting time, digging up and starting internet smear campaigns. I believe the debates will tell a lot. I believe there will be no contest. Obama will win handily. The problem is the fear that's running rampant in this country. Not the fear of terrorists, but the fear of change. I find that very sad because change and innovation is what this country was built on. "Never take a person's hope away, it might be all they have. |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
Chelsea, Just like Dancer you start by calling names. Juvenile is my middle name. The reason I call Lord Obama that is that it makes my point that your post reflects. You say Lord Obama offers hope and change. Can you describe the change he espouses or is it a secrete?. And hope,is that something that only Lord Obama offers?. I'm not digging up and starting internet smear campaigns.
Maybe people only fear change when they don't know what that change is. How is it fair that the Lord Obama wont tell us what that change is going to be? And do you mean the debates that Lord Obama has to do or the ones he now refuses to do? Lord Obama will sit down with the leaders of Iran who want to start nuclear war but is afraid to go on Fox News because he might get some hard questions. Hope is a good thing but hope isn't going to solve any of our problems. Benj |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
Benj, there's really no debate here as you can't even seem to grasp that calling Senator Obama, "Lord Obama" IS name calling.
He's had over 22 debates and has been under hundreds of media microscopes and dissected by every lame brain around. If you don't know where he stands on the issues, you haven't been listening. As I said, no debate here. I'll wait for the debates between McCain and Obama. It's very clear, we're not going to change each other's mind. End of story. |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
I always thought that America had a system of, "Checks and Balances", and that that system prevented "our" President from becoming the lord of the land. Shirleevee |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
chelsea,
I would think that calling someone "Lord" might be construed as a compliment more so than name calling. You say that if I don't know where he stands on the issues then I'm not listening, but I've asked you and several other Lord Obama supporters many times to articulate Any of his policies or plans and to date not one of you have been able to do so. Our checks and balances only work if we vote with our heads not our wants. Maybe checks and balances trump hope and change. We'll see. The Lord Obama is also called that by me because it takes a leap of faith to support him. As for name calling, He's been dissected by every "lame brain around" and BTK has "half a brain". Way to go. Benj |
Re: Obama Tour )Things you don't see)
You folks missed the whole point.I wasnt saying he would ban that singing of that song or that it is his platform. If you read the history of his entire family here and in Africa I think a number of your freedoms you enjoy today will be taken away. Also I would never refer to someone as being stupid.
