the new dog park south of 466A looks great

It's not open yet but it consists of two large fenced in areas. Located off of moyers loop just past Belglade CC. The road is not open yet but it can be seen from the Golf Course.

Just wait.

raynan 07-30-2015 05:25 PM

We drove down and saw it last Sunday. Really nice.

I adopted a bench earlier this week at the Atlas Dog Park! I did it by mail so I hope I like the spot they picked for us in the Small Dog Park. Hopefully, it will be in a nice spot for my 91 year old mother to watch our Shih Tzu puppy!

It looks like any spot for a bench will also be good for watching and interacting with your puppy.

This dog park also has a convenient, big parking lot. The whole area is located in a very picturest setting.

Thats good to hear! We had our choice of putting the bench in the large dog park, small dog park or the walk way. She asked that I put down my first two choices of where we wanted the bench, but it doesn't mean that this is where our bench will be. She called after they received my check and it sounded as if we got our first choice which was the small dog park. She is going to mail my receipt and I should know more after I get it!

bpinsly 07-31-2015 07:55 AM

Can you tell me who you called for the bench?

I called the VCDD at 352-753-4508 and they referred me to Erica. They are located at 984 Old Mill Run in TV. The bench is $675 which includes the bench, freight, concrete slab, your plaque and installation. Two additional plaques can be added for $50 for each plaque. Erica was very helpful. You can see the benches on the VCDD website -- Village Community Development Districts.

Thanks to SusanG on TOTV for giving me the information!

LianaB 07-31-2015 10:41 AM

When is it scheduled to be open?

The receipt came in today's mail. Our bench will be #590 in the Small Dog Park and should be installed within 4-6 months! The park is only a few blocks from our home in The Village of Charlotte! Now, if I could only talk my mother into moving to TV!

JerryLBell 07-31-2015 01:01 PM

This is great to hear! My wife and I bought a house down in the south end of TV and were worried we'd have to golf car the dog quite a ways to get the nearest dog park. Worry no more!

Now if only a Costco, a Trader Joes and a "Mongolian Barbecue"-style restaurant would come to town before we move there, there'll be no reason for us to ever go down to Orlando. Well, other than outlet malls. Nothing's going to keep the wife away from those forever!

During my run today, I took a picture of the new dog park, small dog section. There were quite a few benches already installed. They were not there earlier this week.

Anyway four of them, closest to the entrance had the “name” plates installed. The gate was locked so I didn’t try to get closeup photos. This photo, looking from the gate end shows those four benches and how they are located in the small dog section. The benches on the far end did not have name plates on them.

Hope this helps you.

Don

Thank you for taking the picture. The park looks really nice. I can't wait to see it in person. The best part is that the park isn't too far from our house! Thanks again!

And that is just the section for small dogs There is an adjacent section, same size, for large dogs, a nice winding walkway from the parking area and a great view of Lake Deaton(?)/marshes.

It is a really nice, peaceful area.

Very impressive dog park! Too bad there aren't about 6 more. Actually each district should have there own dog parks IMO. Ok dog haters blast away:popcorn:

Do a search on dog parks. There are all kinds of posts finding fault with the other parks. I predict the whiners will complain about this one too. Just wait!

Hopefully that will not happen, because the residents had a lot of say in the development of this park.

There are faults with various dog parks in the Villages. Too small, rules very lax in enforcement, and with the Paradise Park dog park it is still mostly dirt.

Doggie Doo Run Run is still the best in size, there is some enforcement of rules but they seem to go on a case-by-case basis taking into account the dogs' and people's personalities. They know the people and dogs that go there as they take a very active role in eventually getting to know them while also giving them space.

I will be interested in visiting the CR466A dog park though probably just to scope it out when returning to or from Brownwood.

Where is it in relationship to Brownwood?

Of course he is correct . So much so that you could not find anyone who has been here longer than a week who would be willing to bet against his prediction .

The only question is : How soon after the " official opening " of the new area will it take before someone begins the first Thread and Post complaining about one or a multiple of issues .

Now in " Vegas " or " London " one just might be able to create a series of betting opportunities such as :

1] Timing of the first complaint .
2] Subject of the first complaint .
3] Ultimate length of the initial Thread .
4] Subject of the first " We Need a New Rule " Thread or Post .
And so on .

Brownwood is at Buena Vista and 44.....Atlas Park is to the west of Morse on the southern leg of Moyers Loop about a quarter of a mile beyond the Bellglade CC

Since I am the secretary for the RDOG3 group, I will speak for all of the board members and the RDOG3 members with a huge Thank You. We all put our time and effort into this dog park. The main person to thank is Diane Ferguson. Without her dream, determination and devotion we would not have Atlas Dog Park. John Rohan needs to be thanked also. John took his time to meet with us on many occasions to get the dog park established. We are very happy and proud of Atlas Dog Park. Read the Rules and obtain them. Our dogs will be happy and our dog park will remain beautiful. Look for the Grand Opening of Atlas Dog Park soon.

I agree that each District should have their own dog park.
However it's great that The Villages finally recognized the need for one nice large dog park for residents.
Too bad it couldn't be more central, instead of at the Southern boundary, but "don't look a gift horse in the mouth".
It's in a great location for new residents. I sincerely hope that it's thoroughly enjoyed for years to come!

New dog park at belle glade

i miss the beautiful dog parks in south Florida. My dog will not run around by itself much so I have to walk along with her. Why don't they have a concrete walkway in the park area because I will not walk on the grass as you can imagine why. How come none of the dog parks up here have that??? Very disappointed that I have to walk on the grass - no way!

fergus6868 08-10-2015 06:17 AM

There will be a combination opening of the Morse Preserve, The Rohan Rec Center and the Atlas dog park all on the same day.

Actually, I'm not aware why you won't walk on grass, but do you know about Okahumpka park? It's a park on 44 (Powell Rd to left onto 44 and a mile or so down on the right). It has three miles of walking trails, in and out of the sun, and also a small fenced dog park (which others say has burrs). The trails are paved. There's water, restrooms, and picnic tables in the shade.

people park

Still waiting on the "people park"...like dogs, not so much dog owners. Latest sighting at LSL Market Square of letting little doggies poop in the bushes while pretending to not see & leaving it (8/6); "walking" dogs (no leashes) at Eagle Preserve at Sunset Pointe gate with golf cart & leaving doggie poop behind (8/9).

Dog Park

The dog park located in Labelle is beautiful. Yet not open Oliver and I hope to be there for the grand opening when announced. I do hope there are plans for some tree planting to provide for some shade. Thank you for a lovely dog park!:doggie::coolsmiley:

You are welcome and thank you. When you see Diane Ferguson (President of the RDOG3) please thank her for her Dream, Drive and Determination. This took over 3,000 signatures, bake sales, meeting with John Rohan and our monthly RDOG3 meetings at Eisenhower Regional Rec Ctr. We are all very proud of the Atlas Dog Park. Wonderful news

We will be moving to The Villages in November and are very excited about the dog parks. We have two large 2 year old Golden Retrievers who are accustomed to a 22 acre, naturally landscaped park so I was worried that they would have to be on a leash all the time... this new one looks great!

Has anyone tried the park where you pay outside of the Villages?
