Inexperience

I've said for years that a typical housewife should be the President of the United States. Housewives and mothers have experience - perhaps not political experience, but I view that as a positive. There are so many difficult decisions housewife/mothers have to face every day of their lives. Leaving political parties aside, this lady sounds like she knows what she's doing.

Re: Inexperience

Political experience is not a qualification for much of anything.....but politics.

Gosh...somebody that has an open mind....I do agree and time will tell, I think that's the problem...people are so afraid that a woman just might get things done, instead of this power play that most men must have, its time to find out, some just don't see why she was picked...I do think she is an outsider, which is what is needed, and certainly has proven not to allow the good ole boys to keep her from doing what is right for the people,

Let me see, under her leadership the citizens got a rebate check of over $1,000, oh boy....we got so much less.

People are just afraid of change......yet they beleive change is what obama offers, trust me everyone...anyone who takes office should create change

Being a women has nothing to do with her qualifications!! Just like being in a war has nothing to do with McCain...and being part black has nothing to do with Obama....

We are all aloud to express our opinions...we all have brains...AGREE to DISAGREE....different opinions are needed in this world!

Honestly I was INSULTED when McCain announced her as a running mate! Just because she was a women!! Give me a break!! Insulting to all of us! Whether I vote for McCain or Obama....I was insulted...and this is MY feeling.....with MY opinion....

I agree! If being a housewife is such a qualifying experience for V.P., there are millions of women in America who should have been considered for the position.

I have now got our candidate...Republican or Democrat....we can VOTE for MY Mom!!!

She was a Nun...left the convent then married my father...both Irish catholic conservatives...had 8 children, the youngest which was born with disabilities, has 3 sons who are in the armed services, has her Master Degree to teach emotionally disabled kindergartners....took care of her 90 year old father for the last 2 years of his life....is now raising the 9 year old of one of her sons (heading to Iraq).....she wants change....she has written 3 books (children's books hahaha).

I believe she has ALL the qualifications that BOTH parties are looking for!

Cassie, do you honestly feel that the ONLY reason McCain picked Sarah Palin is "just because she was a woman". :dontknow:

There were many possible choices for the VP slot, and McCain picked the candidate he felt could best do the job. Perhaps her background as a Governor, and her reputation as an independent free-thinker and high achiever also came into consideration? I am personally delighted he choose a woman. And I don't believe for a second that her gender was the only reason she was choosen!

Re: Inexperience

I'm a research junky. I've been digging for information since this nomination. These are my thoughts:
Palin's a good looking woman and she is a mother. (Being a mother and being a good mother are not necessarily inclusive.) She reads great teleprompter and has superior timing for delivering zingers and comedic asides.
Palin's experience as the mayor of Wasilla, a city that, at the time, had 5,460 people, included taking a city with a zero debt to making it a city with a debt of over $22 million. As mayor she tried to have a long list of books (including authors from William Faulkner to Chaucer and books including The Living Bible and Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary) banned from the local library. (There's a long, long list which, of course, includes the Harry Potter series.) When the librarian wouldn't cooperate Palin threated her job. Fortunately, people fought the attempt to oust the librarian and she remained. Taxes increased in the city by 38% and spending by 33%. She told the press she fired Wasilla's police chief because he intimidated her. The tax cuts she promoted helped large corporate property owners more than residents. Under her tenure Wasilla had the greatest expansion of city government in its history.
As governor she was in favor of the pork that would build the "bridge to nowhere." I believe Alaska got the money and never returned it even though plans for the bridge were scrapped. She was then against the bridge. She vetoed projects and gained the reputation as "anti-pork" but as with many of her decisions, public outcry and legislative action restored most of the projects. From what I've read, as governor she proposed distributing Alaska's budget surplus (created by oil surplus and the high price of oil) to individuals BUT wanted the state to borrow or sell bonds to finance state projects. She vetoed a bill that would help teenage mothers find good, affordable housing. (Thank heaven she can provide for her daughter's housing.)
Being, as many Republican men said this week, "a babe", being a soccer mom for a few years is great. Being a hunter doesn't bother me or impress me. Believing the war in Iraq is "the work of God" isn't great. Just because her husband is in a union doesn't make her pro-labor any more than having a doctor in your family makes you a nurse.
I don't want Sarah Palin to be a heart-beat away from the Oval Office. I don't care if she's a mom or not. There are other Republican women who are more qualified. They may not be as attractive, but really, does that matter?

Actually I did feel insulted...there really has never been any mention of her before. Personally I felt they were trying to get the Hillary vote. I have read about her and she does have some other qualifications, whether I agree with her views or not. However....it is MY opinion and I did feel insulted....

I am not asking anyone to agree or disagree with me....just sharing my thoughts.

I get tons of forwards. Some is junk. I always check things with www.snopes.com - a get debunker. I will spend hours sitting here poking away. (I even read the post from Fox News that someone posted here.) What makes me chuckle about this "warning" is that last week the "Happy Paper" had an editorial about Obama's "1/2 brother" the headline for which and the content within were apparently taken from the National Enquirer that was on grocery racks the same week. So, I suppose my sources are just as reputable as those used by our award winning local paper.

CMJ...thus far my research can find ONLY one source for the library story and it is the letter from Anne Kilkenny and no backup, but interested about your referring to a list of books....can find that nowhere...help me :)

So Bucco, What did you think about the Anne Kilkenny letter?

Re: Inexperience

Most of the financial information is being reported in a number of places and is not disputed as I can see by anyone and despite all the negativity that is being distributed about is, she seemed to be rather well thought of in her hometown (except of course by Anne Kilkenny:)

Hey...really would like your reference on the list of books

Actually am sort of neutral on it. I mean, one letter from one person is sort of making a big deal. I am really curious about the references used in the post that started this thread...weill need to wait and see.

Actually also....I like it in that it may open the door for some other things to come out....I know nobody on here EVER responds to my posts on ACTUAL facts from many sources on Sen Obama's RADICAL SOCIALIST TRAINING AND ASSOCIATES,but seem to hyperventilate on one ladys memo.

I have always suspected that the info the Clintons had on Sen Obama would come out in spades close to the election and maybe this will hurry it so that is good.

Not upset at all...hoping to get some validation on it though...certainly ONE letter from ONE lady is not something that will get me excited. I figure if folks ignore many facts from credible sources and lean on one letter like this to make a decision they deserve what they get :)

That was a long answer :)....short answer...going to wait and see...also still looking for the reference used for the list of books...cant find that at all !

Tonight a gentleman told me that all the men like Sarah because she looks like a librarian..and they can take her glasses off and vavoom!! I will not say how this conversation finished. Well, guys, you don't have to make her VP just so you can have fantasies about her. 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl Now Benj and Bucco, calm down and tell me the librarian thought never crossed your minds!! ;) ;) I've seen the (photoshopped??) pic of her in the bikini with the assault rifle. I thought that was hot. (I am referring to the assault rifle)

Bucco, here is a different picture with a bikini and plain rifle. I'm not sure if this one is photoshopped...but it probably is.http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/s...alin-Armed.htm

You know I hate to admit this, I must be slipping, but the librarian thing didn't cross my mind, I must be getting old. I'll tell you one thing that did cross my mind though. She seemed like the kind of person I would like to sit down and have a beer with. And I can't say that about the other three. Benj

Re: Inexperience

cmj - Try doing your homework again before you perpetuate untruths and represent them as a product of your research especially the library lie and specifically the alleged books you cite with authority. The mainstream media even acknowledged the lie about the books.

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/separat...lin-fiction/2/

Note the credible links in Charles Martin's research that bring us closer to the truth. I respect your opinion about her, your right to oppose her and even campaign against her, but disagree with your piling on of contrived factual misrepresentations and distortions about her record. A record incidentally, that legitimately contains embarrassing flaws in the candidate.

I try very hard to stay out of the Political Forum having lived in that arena with modest success for forty years, but, like Al Pacino said, "every time I try to get out....they pull me back in."

Have a great day in the Villages.

You are absolutely correct CHELSEA ! Correct and on the nose on this one.

TWO THINGS....one, sort of hypocritical of you to chastize anyone on their choice of links isnt it :)

But more importantly, as the Rev Wright "thing" was submersed for quite sometime before the main stream media had to cover it, so is this. I firmly believe deep in my heart it is all true....there are too many recounts that are the same. I believe that this WILL COME OUT in the main stream media before election day.
Frankly, I think the Rev Wright issue is sufficient enough to doubt Sen Obama (if one email from someone can cast doubt on Gov Palin...how about TWENTY YEARS OF WORSHIP WITH A MAN YOU CALL YOUR MENTOR)...THAT , to me is a lapse of judgement.

His two books even deal with his "flirting" with radicals...and that alone for sure is not sufficient to condemn him in any way but is just one more piece of the puzzle.

AGAIN, I am not, never have attacked his character but his idealogy is simply much too radical and far left !
