Losing Faith in Americans

I don't know. Is it me?? More Islamic terrorist attacks on our soil , more innocent lives lost and all I can think is we either have the dumbest people living in this country or the most selfish self-absorbed ever. Do people think lets move on, go Xmas shopping , they didn't kill my family (this time). What in the world are we allowing our grandchildren to inherit??? I'm very depressed today. How do people Not care??

Guest 12-03-2015 01:36 PM

You do have to laugh though, when liberals are so willing to call a deranged, homeless guy from the hills of NC, a terrorist. And then turn around and very carefully, not to make hasty opinions about two Muslim killers in Ca that were well armed and organized. Mustn't make the Muslim community angry. Kind of ironic in a warped sort of way.

The incident in Colorado Springs absolutely meets the definition of a terriost attack and I for one will always refer to it as an act of domestic terror.

I watched the coverage deep into the morning and heard many times that the police would not rule out the attack as terrorist.

I also noticed you are quick to include the religion of the CA killers as Muslim but you fail to mention that the CO killer was a "saved" Christian. Why would you fail to mention that?

Guest 12-03-2015 02:51 PM

I don't think it is not caring so much as relief it didn't affect our loved ones or area. Sadly, it is very much part of human nature. It is rubbernecking at an accident site. It is the relief a coalminer's wife feels when she sees her husband after a cave-in. You're sorry it happened but grateful it didn't happen to you. Also, the more often things occur, the more we build up defenses to relieve the pain. The entire nation grieved after Columbine. Most of us were sickened or saddened after the school shooting up north. We were shocked and angered at McVeigh's actions in Oklahoma City. We were devastated after 9-11. Now, we sigh, feel bad for a short while and continue with our lives. And that may be the best revenge of all -- we keep on going regardless.

Red

Guest 12-03-2015 03:25 PM

Red. I think is very sad if true. We keep going, do absolutely nothing about it. Does sound self centered. Sometimes I think I have too much compassion and care too much and feel alone in the journey.

Maybe I should just quit caring, sit back and watch America fall apart but then someday I'm afraid I'll be telling the grandkids how great America used to be

Guest 12-03-2015 03:39 PM

Keep the illegal Mexicans get rid of the Muslims.

Guest 12-03-2015 03:52 PM

Close the borders and enforce the immigration laws currently on the books.

No sales of guns of any kind to anybody that does not have proof of USA citizenship.

No sales of guns to immigrants who have been in the USA less than 10 years.

Get Obama the hell out of office.

Do not vote for Clinton.

Any sane person feels pretty much the same way, but many people react differently. I try and treat each day as just another fine day...you can stress out, but all that will do is make you miserable and those around you. It's up to you put those feelings aside and get on with your time here. Posting it here isn't the best idea.

Guest 12-03-2015 05:33 PM

That's the point. It's Not another Fine day. Maybe for us because today our children weren't killed but this is going to occur more and more and more when we have no leadership in this country. I give up. I think I hit the nail on the head. Either really dumb Americans or so self absorbed they play iPhone all day and can't be bothered to educate themselves on the biggest threat ever to our society. Islamic terrorism is our biggest threat despite how Obama trys to downplay it and !make U think its global warming

I agree with you that you can't let it consume you, however I also agree with the OP in that there are far too many people who appear to be totally out of touch with world events, politics, and the like. In my opinion, with all that is going on today, we can't afford to be so oblivious. That type of ignorance could result in serious consequences to our country for generations to come. And not sure why posting it here is a problem. It often helps just to know that you're not alone in your concerns. JMHO.....

What does it say about folks like you that insist on staying on here after announcing to everyone how bad it is? Can't you get attention elsewhere? That was an interesting observation, and yet it did not appeal to you, so you deemed it "dumb." And still you stay. I won't say that this is kind of a "dumb" practice, but I am sure you can read between the lines. I was taught to have better manners than to disparage a person just because I don't agree with him/her. But, obviously not all of us had proper parenting. I imagine some of the rudeness seen on here is due to being raised by an unwed mother. Just guessing. I would never accuse anyone on here of that, because it would definitely show a lack of manners.

You suggest only US citizens should be allowed to purchase guns. Let's just take a look at the history of all mass shooting in Colorado and see if that would help.

Name:Robert Lewis Dear Born: KY Race: White
Noah Harpham CO White
James Holmes CA White
Matthew Murray CO White
Eric Harris KS White
Dyland Kliebold CO White
Nathan Dunlap IL African American

Every shooter was born in the USA, male and 90% were white.

Using your logic it would make more sense to ban gun sales to white males.

So lets work on that!!!!

You are not going to stop terrorist attacks, other than via good intelligence (if at all). However, stricter enforcement of laws and penalties would help work some with individual murders. You will never do away with guns, so you are better off if good citizens are allowed to train in gun safety and state laws pertaining to the use of firearms. Putting down a criminal should not be deemed unfair. If he commits the crime, then he knows he might get killed. Executing convicted murderers would help as a deterrent for some crime. But most of your deaths by gun are suicides. Violent crime is down in the past fifteen years, believe it or not. And per capita, America is not even in the top five of countries with gun related deaths. And the countries ahead of us on the scale have very restrictive gun control.

Liberals will never get rid of our guns. They will only succeed in hindering self defense, which will cause MORE and MORE criminal gun deaths. Gun free zones are targets for criminals. The Police can not protect you, but they can take a report AFTER you are killed.

To avoid a pi$$ing contest let's assume we give you CO. What happens to your logic when the rest of the USA is factored in? And how far back in "history"?

Close the borders and enforce the immigration laws currently on the books.

Using all the mass shootings in CO all of the shooters were US citizens so this would not help

No sales of guns of any kind to anybody that does not have proof of USA citizenship.

Again using all of the mass shootings in CO all were US citizens so this would not help

No sales of guns to immigrants who have been in the USA less than 10 years.
Again using all of the mass shooting in CO all were US citizens so this would not help

Get Obama the hell out of office.

Of the 6 shootings in CO 4 have taken place while Obama was in office. Until the past month it would have been 2/2 but then we have had 2 mass shooting in the past month.

Do not vote for Clinton.

Not sure what this has to do with it.

Now don't you find it odd that all shooting in CO were committed by males and 90% by white males....what is your take on that?

No one seems to want to look at the facts... A obvious right wing poster suggested some rules to help with these mass shootings. I put that theory to the test using statistics from the state where I have lived most of my 65 years. You can look them up yourselves just google mass shootings in Colorado.

In each case the gunman was a male and 90% of the time the male shooter was white.

In Colorado I have more to fear white male terrorists than Muslim terrorists just looking at the facts. Why is it so hard for you all to admit that fact? Are my stats wrong? Show me yours.....

So, lets explore your theory a little further. According to your supposition, doctors kill more people than gun toting murderers, so we should avoid doctors at all cost.
Automobiles kill more people than guns so we should avoid all machinery at all cost.

Anyone can take a stat and use it to their means.

Most of gun related death is due to suicide. There has been a reduction in violent crime in the last fifteen years, so that should be considered. Why? Could it be that the states that have concealed carry laws are reducing crime?

The gov cannot legislate less mental health problems. It CAN be an element of stress on the population when it becomes a nanny or micro-manager. That could be construed as a contributing factor.

You cannot lump mental health related mass killings with terrorist related mass killings. You cannot handle both in the same manner. Terrorism is fought with good intelligence, whereas mental health is much harder to pinpoint. No one knows when a person goes from strange to dangerous. I have a strange neighbor, but if he is not yet dangerous, he can't be committed for treatment. But, how do we know when he might (if ever) do something damaging? A person loses his mind and starts on a rampage does not make him a terrorist. That term needs to be modified to fit the incident so that it can be treated appropriately. You cannot treat mental health issues the same as radical extremism. You cannot continue to be PC when dealing with radical Islamic extremists, terrorists. The first rule of treatment for a disease is admitting it exists and classifying it appropriately.

Mental health is not political, no matter what party that person/perpetrator is registered as. Terrorism IS political but party affiliation should not be an element toward treatment. If our leaders cannot label real terrorism, but use the term incorrectly for political gains on the mentally impaired, then those leaders are impotent and ignoring the real issue. Mental health and terrorism should be addressed as separate issues and treated with two differing methods of correction.

Our liberal leaders wish to use any issue as a platform for gun control, when gun control has nothing to do with the issue. They are ignoring the real motive by blaming the vehicle. Blaming an automobile for DWI is basically what these leaders are doing.

A loonytoon with anger issues that suddenly snaps and goes on a killing spree is not the same as a loonytoon with radical political or religious beliefs that wishes to kill anyone that doesn't follow his beliefs.

We can profile radical Middle Eastern extremists successfully and eliminate some danger to our community. But, it is not easy to profile mental health issues. The gov cannot legislate or determine what is to be defined as mental balance.

Basically, we have a war going on in the world with radical extremism and it has moved to America some years ago. We cannot continue to ignore it and use it as a basis for unrelated gun control politics. Gun control has nothing to do with most of the killings, even if guns are used in the commission of these crimes. Politicians need to get past this need to mandate and manage people's lives, thinking that they know better than we do what is good for us. They need to address the real issue and start cleaning up the cancer of extremism. To do so, you have to remove some of the good tissue with the disease. Being PC when it comes to profiling is not going to make America any safer. Radical Islam considers our PC to be a weakness and has no respect for us. Islam has not just suddenly started a war against non-believers. They have been at war with us for centuries. It's time for us to realize that and act appropriately. In war there is ALWAYS collateral damage. You cannot win a war utilizing no fire zones.

“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”
― G.K. Chesterton

Again my question was what is wrong with Americans that can ignore the murders in our own country. Are they just dumb, selfish ??? Why can't everyone agree the no 1 job of the president is protect AMERICA. He isn't. He won't. Does anyone care?? It wasn't your kids This time so is that OK?? What about next time? How do u bury your head in the sand?? Are we that divided as a nation we don't even demand protection from our government? Our younger generation, do they even know what's going on? Xmas is coming. People are burying their loved from from yey another Islamic attack. When is enough enough?? 9\11. Forgotten? Next one, maybe our kids??? Anyone care enough to do anything??

Women don't like the noise that the gun makes. They prefer to use knives.

Although, my daughter is a competition pistol marks-person. She has a concealed carry permit in her state but can't carry it to her place of employment because she works at a college. Of all the places she frequents, the college is probably the worst for assaults on women. Gun free zones....perfect targets.

To the OP, don't worry about America. It still has a chance. It's just waiting for another assault on it and then it will rally everyone together again. Right now, you have the silent, hard worker patriots and then you have the lazy, needy pacifists that think that everyone owes them. They are more than willing to share as long as it's someone else's money. Socialism is looking more and more favorable to them, even though our country fought wars to prevent it from coming here. America would do well to institute a military conscript program. Give everyone a chance and privilege to serve their country. And everyone should have to serve two years overseas, so they can appreciate what they have here.

But, America will always bounce back. Eventually, the silent majority will put a break a boot off on someone's behind and then America will be great again. I am not like Obama who hates his country and wants us to be second to other countries. I know we are the best and should stand tall and proud. And proud of our flag and our faith. This is a country founded on faith and it should always remember that.

The facts speak for themselves..... If a gun is used in the US for domestic abuse, crime of passion or mass shooting the person holding the gun is a MAN.

In domestic murder suicides, even the one here in TV, its the man kills the wife and then himself.

What faith would that be? I am a patriot. I believe in the flag. I also believe in the majority. Who is the silent majority? The majority voted for President Obama. I think America is great. I can't think of any country in the world that is greater. I also think it can be greater. Always did. I am always amazed when somebody says that the President of The United States hates America. I think some Presidents have done better jobs then others. I have never agreed 100 percent with any President or congressmen. Every 4 years I get to vote for another President and accept whatever the majority votes for. Like it or not.

The majority of votes, yes. Not the majority of registered voters by a long way. If liberals think that America is great, then why are they insistent on CHANGING it? Even Obama says he wants it to be like European socialist countries. We are better than all of Europe, so I see no need to make changes that will cause our country to regress into socialism. An ideology of slaves is what the progressive aim to achieve.
