Rudeness

I realize that most of the Snowbirds have returned, just go to Colony Plaza and you can experience first hand, I was in Public's yesterday, and again the rudeness is there, people in the middle of the aisles, who refuse to move their carts, a man was arguing at the Cash Register about his bill My husband went out to get the car as I stood in Line and laughed at the impatience of people, left with a full basket and my husband met me at the front of the store, to pick me up. He was parked at the end of Publc''s and a woman pulls behind him and starts blowing her horn, We were not obstructing traffic, and gave plenty of room for any car to go by. She shot me the finger, gray haired and all. If you cannot be patient, than go back to the North and leave us Southerners alone, I am so sick of your rudeness, impatience and hostility, We are all retired and have all day, to ponder what tomorrow will bring.

Perhaps your gray-haired nemesis was a Southerner?

She was probably from Spanish Springs. Those northerners are mighty pushy.

Cedwards38 01-07-2016 01:40 PM

Well, at least the Westerners and Easterners are not involved in this discussion.

biker1 01-07-2016 01:43 PM

Sorry, there are no Southerners in Florida. The South ends at the Florida state line ;-)

Rudeness

If the North won the war why all the hostility? Or, maybe the hostility instigated the war.

I think it is rude and unsafe to park in front of any store to wait to pick someone up. What if everyone did this instead of the privileged few?

graciegirl 01-07-2016 02:29 PM

That's pushin' it, Looney.

Howsomever, I was just at Publix and it wasn't very crowded when I came in so I allowed myself to evaluate all of the different kinds of greens for salad until I looked around and saw I had been blocking someone. Ditto, the meat area. I wish I could park my cart somewhere not bothering folks and look for some things that I enjoy taking time to find.

I don't think that is gonna be a easy fix so I will try to remember to look around me and be more considerate. I don't argue over the bill, but I do sigh from time to time. And I NEVER honk. I think our horn is practically a virgin.

I am not a snowbird. I am a hometowner.

Bonny 01-07-2016 02:29 PM

Hmmmm.... I'm from Michigan. Guess that makes me one of those Northerners.
Gray hair does not mean Northerner.
Rudeness, impatience & always in a hurry knows no boundaries.
We have a lot more people here this time of the year so some of these things become more noticeable.
Slow down, take a deep breath and enjoy life. :D

That would make it much more difficult to know who is sitt'n, who is honk'n and who is flipp'n.

I was not born in The Villages. I moved here. From somewhere else. Might have been from the north. Not sure.

LOL, well you could be mostly right now. But, I'm pretty sure Florida was one of the original states to secede from the union and form the CSA.

rexxfan 01-07-2016 03:42 PM

In the 10 months I've been following TOTV these "rudeness" threads have never accomplished anything useful. It is so pointless. Bonny has the right idea. Moving on.

would like you to try and tell tht to some of my relatives in northern Florida. We refer to the war as the war of northern aggression and we are just taking a break.

We're mostly passive aggressive now. No hard feelings.

how can you talk about carts all over when your husband parked in front of the store. yes you were impeding traffic because it is a no parking zone and if you were near the end of publix it was probably in front of a stop sign.....rudeness is in the eyes of the beholder. relax life is too short. chilout

NotGolfer 01-07-2016 04:39 PM

One way to solve this cunudrum is to avoid Colony (particularily Publix) during peak shopping hours. We're in "high season" but despite that, people bring their "bad habits" with them. So take a breath, then another one and just do your very best not to be like them!

beside I have a friend who is a cashier. She told me that when the person that puts the groceries in the bag asks if you need to help to the car they hope you say yes. Not for the tip, just for the chance to go outside and have a friendly conversation. Send the cart and the the person that puts the groceries in the bag to the car and the driver will have even less to do.

Sandtrap328 01-07-2016 04:42 PM

Publix lets you take your shopping cart to your car and will even have someone wheel the cart to your car and load it into the car - with no tip allowed.

Why have your husband drive to the front of the store for you to put groceries in your car?

No, in this instance, you were in the wrong. Sorry.

Probably a D. Lot's of them in the Colony area. I never go down there, especially at night.

Fredman 01-07-2016 06:30 PM

What is worse the people from the north or those street legal carts going 25mph blocking traffic

That's a tough call.....

goodtimesintv 01-07-2016 06:51 PM

Mind boggling how many people think Publix at Colony Plaza is the only place to buy food around here, and that it must be done before 10am. That is when people form the clog there and their worst nasty and stubborn old f*rt traits boil over.

Try a little flexibility in life. Like grocery shopping at a later time of day, or at another of the 15 supermarkets in TV.

I don't go near that place unless it's after 7pm.

Topspinmo 01-07-2016 07:17 PM

I only go to " publics" for emergency items, otherwise I have to get bank loan due to the highest prices round. No wonder the guy at the cash register was complaining " sticker shock and buyers remorse". Any parking lot is "danger will Roberson" as far as rudeness goes, the worse are lazy ????? that won't take the time to take there empty cart to the cart rack and just leave it in parking space. This time of the year I go either at 5am or late at night at wallyworld. At least there I didn't feel I got took as bad!

Interesting that you find someone blocking the aisle a problem, but don't see a problem when your husband blocks traffic in a no parking/stopping/standing zone. I've seen lots of inconsiderate people during the summer months in The Villages. Let's not brand Snowbirds as a problem. After all, they pay amenities 12 months of the year and can only use them 6 months of the year:)
