Neighborhood Narcissist

I live in Tamarind Grove, to put it very blunt. There is a man who exercises in his drive way @ 6:30 am blaring music every morning. Today this was the topper-@ 12:30 he was sprawled out on his front lawn in shorts--bare chested - stretched out in some un Godly stretched position.

This guy is a first class nut--the neighborhood refers to him as Miami Mike

jojo 01-11-2016 06:50 PM

We can match that in Amelia. There is a guy who parades around in the briefest of Speedos all summer long. He walks across the street from his house through the postal station to the pool and even walks his dog in this attire. Ugh!

Every neighborhood has one, just like every village has an idiot:1rotfl::1rotfl:

DonH57 01-11-2016 08:52 PM

Whew. Now our village and street sounds more normal now.

Carla B 01-11-2016 10:15 PM

Not ours. It is chaste and pure.

rubicon 01-12-2016 06:03 AM

Hi chatbrat and jojo do the guys your talking about also wear thick gold chains around their necks and flashy pinky rings. God I hate that look

From your descriptions these guys think they leave residents "breathless" when the fact is they leave residents with the impression they are "clueless

This reminds me that back home we would refer to this type as ja beeps.
What's a ja beep..think Joey Buttafucco..thinking I'm so kool while people just shake their heads and shrug their shoulders.

Always find a silver lining, and at least you and your neighbors are getting some type of entertainment and conversation..." Alice, you know what that
ja beep did this morning"

Personal Best Regards:

Chatbrat 01-12-2016 06:10 AM

He must of hocked his gold since he started playing golf

Madelaine Amee 01-12-2016 06:41 AM

I can only tell you that if someone was stretched out on the front lawn in my neighborhood, one of us would call 911 and request an ambulance!

As for "speedo" man, it is probably just a rolled up sock!!!!

Now, here is a post that is a fun way to start the morning.

(I can't find that little rolling around laughing emoticon thingy or I would put one here........I bet that guy named Golfing Eagles is hoarding all of them.)

Anyway, thanks for a morning laugh.

I was looking after a friend's home and cat in Amelia this summer when they were away for a week.

I was driving home in my cart, when my attention was drawn to a scantily clad 'woman' working in her yard. Much of her was hidden by some bushes, As I got closer I realized it was 'speedo' guy.

I raced home as fast as I could. It was the first time I have ever had to wash my eyes out with soap.

Great thread......................thanks for the smile this morning.

(sorry about your pain, i guess i shouldn't have smiled)

Blaring music outdoors at 6:30am would seem to be covered by some sort of noise ordinance. Have you called the Sumter County Sheriff's Office to find out, or report the offense? I know I would if the music was loud enough to wake me inside my home. I think there is an 8am noise ordinance because none of the landscapers will start cutting grass until then.

I remember when I was 10 years old living in St. Petersburg and I was riding on the back of my dad's motorcycle. He pulled over to the side one day and said did you see that? I said, see what. He said that man naked in his backyard. We saw a police officer a few minutes later and my dad flagged him down. He reported the incident and directed the officer to the home. The policeman knocked on his back door and asked the man if he was outside his home naked. The man said no, but he was wearing just a robe with shoes and socks. The police issued him a ticket right there.

Amen, obviously it is the old folks not having anything better to do with their life. Maybe that person wants to stay in shape or is from a culture that accepts this.
God you people give me a laugh, NOT the OP

Are you out of lobster jokes yet???

Cannot really say I have any problem with the guy going around wearing just speedos. The early morning noise though would bother me.

Quit complaining about your fellow villagers on this site. These types of threads hurt the villages reputation. Have any of you chronic complainers bothered to meet these people and talk to them? Maybe they are great neighbors that just love the outdoors and the sun. At least the workout guy is trying to stay healthy. (I know. You play golf every day. Riding around in a golf cart and standing over a little white ball isn't exactly intense exercise. Ok, for some of you, it is. But for people in half way decent shape it isn't.) These human targets of your ire could turn out to be your best friends. Maybe the speedo guy is European. We are a nation of immigrants. And anyway, what's the big deal? You're retired.

Heck no---you should have seen what this lobster did in the roundabout while being chased by a coyote driving a non-street legal golf cart at 28 mph yesterday:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

When someone says "you people", my senses heighten.

And hearing "Old Folks" makes my blood pressure go up UNLESS I say it.

And what culture accepts someone over 55 parading around in a Speedo? Oh maybe in Miami. But we are HERE and we think it is interesting to point it out to each other. It is you Chellybean who doesn't have enough interesting in your life, that is my guess.

Carry on.

AND Chatbrat....6:30 A.M. is way too early to see and hear this kind of thing.

The boombox guy just needs headphones.

The speedo guy might be in training for the Olympics. I'll admit the easiest part is wearing the right suit but you got to start someplace.

It sounds more like you are the one with the problem. He has every right to be on his lawn and exercise there. Or in his drive way . If the music is too high in volume, You could ask him to lower it some. That is what people do. In the USA men do not need to have a shirt on. Actually woman do not either in most places in the country.

Well said! Most of the people I see in the villages have big bellys and haven't seen there dicky do in some time.
You people are so fast to past judgement, I bet if the OP said to that person with the loud music , to please lower it for us non exercise type, he would either wear a headset or lower the music.
We are in a retirement community NOT a waiting to Die community.
People are all different here and that is the way the world turns, STOP judging People OP.
bravo for him getting up early and trying to stay in shape; for the rest of the Villagers that don't, maybe they would feel better if they did.

Frequently, and more so as I get older, I find it sometimes difficult to tell the difference between men and women in TV. Especially from behind. My last eye exam was good so I'm thinking this phenomenon is not of my doing.

Seriously ? It is widely apparent that some people can voice their opinion and expect the mutual admiration society pat on the back. But, God forbid OTHERS express their opinion and this very same society is on them like a fly on sh*t. This WE you refer to is a very small minded society indeed.

Still friends ?

Peace Brother. My post was meant to be witty and disarming, using sarcasm and a light touch.

I think if you met me, you wouldn't be so combative.

Have some coffee.

fred53 01-12-2016 10:37 AM

If an individual wants to look foolish(IMO)then I'm okay with that as I can avert my gaze or shut my eyes.

To the unwanted music you either ignore(I would if it only happened once or twice)...confront the person(you'll likely get a manly "mind your own business")...or call the non-emergency police number and file a disturbing the peace complaint. I opt for the last choice and I do so because: a)you can't shut your ears b)the person clearly does not care what they do c)they could have easily avoided the issue with headphones, earbuds and did not.

To those who think it's his right....what about everyone else? Do they have any rights or is it only those who do things that disturb others? No one should have to put up with noisy neighbors. That is why there are noise and disturbing the peace laws. You don't like those laws then get up a petition to repeal them, but just remember when you have an emergency the the cop who responds hasn't had much sleep due to noisy neighbors...or your doctor, nurse, 1st responder....
