Golf Cart Parking

At LSL this morning and once again a golf cart pulls in the last spot even though there is a spot next to another golf cart in the next spot.
Total lack of consideration.

Possibly, but just as likely to be ignorance of the protocol.

MikeV 02-26-2016 12:34 PM

I see this all the time and it's frustrating.

NYGUY 02-26-2016 12:50 PM

I hope it was due to the fact that they are new and no one has explained it to them. I did it the first time I parked at LSL. When I returned to my cart, I happened to look around, and, my mistake was obvious. Never did that again!!

Maybe it's one of those clowns that park diagonally across 2 spots at the shopping centers so no one gets too near their 1988 corolla

Would you please explain this protocol to me? I don't normally go to LSL by cart, so I'm missing something. Thanks in advance.

Hey, they are just trying to protect the finish on a wannabe vintage auto.

All of the "golf cart only" spots at Aldi were blocked by just three cars yesterday. Plenty of car spaces available, but they were further from the entrance. And one of the "disabled" car slots had a delivery vehicle in it.

patfla06 02-26-2016 02:18 PM

This happens often and always amazes me how people are
so unaware of others around them.

It's like the space in between the golf cart parking spaces at Lowes on 441. Yesterday a tall large truck parked in it preventing the golf carts from getting out of their spaces. The signage must not be large enough but I can read it from the cracker barrel. Plain inconsideration since the lot was also half full.

Those spaces are crazy anyway - painted as if you can get ten carts in, although if anyone parked in the back row they'd block in those by the curb :-)

Why? They just created 3 more spots for other carts. It depends on your perspective.

Oh. You mean those spots across from the outdoor center section of Lowes. I was refering to the 6 spots between the handicap spaces in the center of the lot. They should definately re align those so ten carts should park there.

The fact that this post has somehow gone to Lowes is why I don't watch much anymore.
Here are 2 reasons for parking there other then being ignorance of the protocol, Maybe it's one of those clowns, unaware of others around them, Plain inconsideration.

1) Safer to park in a wider place. 2) I often do this to leave more space for other golf carts.
5 golf carts instead of 1 car.

cars. 5 golf carts instead of 1 car.

Isn't that kinda like saving seats at the squares? Why do you feel you have the right to deny a car a place to park?

rubicon 02-27-2016 05:36 AM

IMHO discussions such as this mask the real frustration "overcrowding" Oops!
I mean fully utilized parking areas in this case. Now that VLSI has broken ground on the other side of the FL Turnpike we can expect more of the same sort of posting.

Its going to be interesting seeing how Florida adjusts to more of us northerners escaping the winter snows and higher taxes as baby boomers hit that jack pot called retirement and head on down

asianthree 02-27-2016 06:28 AM

Ok when you go to LSL in your car don't you wonder why that golf cart just parked in the only open space in the middle no less? Then sometime when you are in your cart wonder why that car just doesn't park behind the stores, and leave the spaces for carts? :loco:

I didn't know that there are more cart spots at Lowe's - will have to try them out for size!

At this time of year, half of those by the outdoor center are blocked by pallets of mulch and other bulk garden supplies.

Yes those spots definately get blocked. There are other stores not in the villages that have golf cart parking. There is one behind Hairmasters and cars pull in to them side ways somehow. There are amazing parking stunts every where you look.

Topspinmo 02-27-2016 08:21 AM

I didn't know open parking spaces was reserved for cars only? A cart is just like car in golf cart community. Move on to the next spot. Yes I wish we lived in prefect world, but we don't.

Yes to your first one, because there should be space left for a second cart; no to the second because why should anyone have to park farther away when there is a parking space available? Parking has always been on a first-come/first-served basis, unless the space is designated otherwise.

Who the hell decided there was some kind of parking protocol?

To the person that complained about who created the protocol, it is obvious there is no parking protocol until you're the one upset with it. It's common courtesy to have two golf carts parked in one car parking space. So utilize the space that is available with another golf cart. If there's not room with another golf cart then you can take up the parking space that is available! But that still does not mean you can park in the middle of the space with your golf cart! There are a lot of folks that operate with a walker or wheelchair in this community and cannot park behind the building. There are not enough handicap parking spaces for all that need a closer parking space! It would be nice if people would just use common sense and courtesy instead of looking out for themselves only!

Probably goes all the way back to the stone ages (Orange Blossom) when the very first pre-Villager parked their cart to the side of a full size space, and another innovative resident later pulled alongside.

And the rest is history.

I agree that parking at LSL and all over TV is crazy. However, I don't quite understand your post. If there was a parking spot one spot over, then the cart did not take the last spot. Perhaps it was the spot you wanted that was taken? Did you park in the next spot over?

The OP was in a car, and the golf cart took the last parking spot big enough for a car, even though there was a parking spot big enough for a golf cart one spot over.

Common sense & courtesy are flowers not grown in everyone's garden.

Protocol: the official procedure or system of rules governing affairs of state or diplomatic occasions
Ain't no parking protocol, only courteous or not courteous parkers.

murray607 02-29-2016 08:45 AM

So, what if originally two carts were in each spot. Then as carts leave spots become open. The OP may not have seen how many carts were originally parked, but only surmised that new arrivals were taking vacant car sized spots instead of pulling in beside single carts.
We should not jump to conclusions.

You are right there is total lack of consideration here. I always look to park with another golf cart to allow for a car to park. At our local post office you see this all the time and if you say something to the person they get all indignant. The attitudes here are horrific.

Nothing to do with parking, but as I approached Laurel Manor there were two people standing in the road talking, right outside the swimming pool (on the road, not in the parking lot).

I went round them and parked my cart then, as I walked by them on my way to the pool, I politely said "you may want to get out of the road".

One of them was not happy with my suggestion!

biker1 02-29-2016 10:08 AM

We all suck and have nasty attitudes. Time to end the thread ;-)

James Blackley 02-29-2016 10:14 AM

It depends on the size of the space. If you have a nice cart and park behind another cart, will the back up safely. You are also at risk of car doors hitting your cart. If you pull cart up next to other cart it is too tight. I drive a car and a cart and try to be patient as there may be a reason for the way they parked. Just saying, it's not all about you!!!

There was space next to another golf cart on the left and a whole space to the right. Instead of parking their golf cart next to the other cart they pulled into the whole space which was the last spot.
