WAWA coming!!!!

For many of us the villages is about to get even better than it is-I just read where a WAWA is coming to Rt 466 and 301. To many northerners this is great news. I for one can't wait!

pooh 06-28-2016 07:23 AM

Hooray!!

This west coast girl has become a WaWa fan! Great news!

Phanatic Luvr 06-28-2016 07:42 AM

Fantastic news! But I am not seeing it on their website as a future location. How did you learn of this?

They have some of these in the Tampa Area. Never been to one though. Wawa - Home Page

There is a WaWa in Clermont. Please explain to me what is so special about these convenience stores?

jimmemac 06-28-2016 09:03 AM

For some people it is the food that they make, for some it is their coffee and for others they usually have the best gas prices. No matter where they are or when you go they will always be busy but they are very good about getting you in and out also. For me personally it is their coffee and breakfast sandwiches - they are to die for.

Steve9930 06-28-2016 10:18 AM

WAWA. Great news. Love their coffee.

They have been sprouting up all over Orlando in the last few years and I will go out of my way to go to one.

To answer your question, one of the kewl things (in my mind) is that they have a system where you can order sandwiches from a computer and then it will be made to order while you wait, without standing in a line. In addition, their stores are clean, well lighted and roomy.

They also have an excellent selection of pre-made sandwiches, healthy snacks and a fountain drink machine that once you get the hang of it, dispenses just about every type and concoction you could ever think of. And being a coffee lover, they have a great selection with a setup away from the dispensers that makes it easy to put anything you choose in it.

If the rumor is true (and I really hope it is), they better make sure they have a huge parking lot (most of them do anyway) because I can see it as being hugely popular at that location.

Not a rumor. Was covered in todays 6/28 Daily Sun.

I'm in favor of any business coming to TV, that benefits it's residents.

I never frequented Wawa's in CT when i was there but several people I knew loved them. I'll have to try them when they arrive.

Bad news for Murphy Express!

rhood 06-28-2016 01:09 PM

Be interesting to see what it does to the traffic at that intersection. That land will be annexed into Wildwood.

Jima64 06-28-2016 02:47 PM

I have read some great reviews of this chain and hope to visit it as soon as it opens to give the other places some competetion.

Jimmemac, since you're from Havre de Grace then you probably had stopped at the WaWa in Abingdon, Maryland a few times. I lived right across the street behind the shopping center. When that place opened in 2004 it was an immediate hit. However, circling the gas pumps waiting for a spot was not fun. I did like their sub sandwiches, especially since you entered all your ingredients on a touch screen and had them made to your tastes. I eventually moved to a different station, that place was so busy it was almost like bumper cars.

My favorite subs here is Jersey Mike's over in front of Target and I spoke with Randy their Manager just last week. He said they probably won't put a store at 44 and Morse in the new Publix shopping Center, but rather on 466 in front of Walmart by NYPD Pizza. He couldn't tell me anymore details. They will be close to the new WaWa and Jersey Mike's has the best subs around in my opinion. So I guess I won't go there as much if that happens.

All I can say is WOO HOO!

d&bstroup 06-28-2016 04:26 PM

A point of history. WAWA just closed their original store that they open in Folsom, PA. They opened a Super WAWA just two blocks away at Mac Dade Blvd and Rt 420. They are all well run.

I had never been in one before this past Saturday. Very impressed with the customer service.

We stopped at one for the first time on a trip to New England because of the gas prices and decided to grab something for lunch. We got a couple of pre-made chicken wraps to eat while we drove. We couldn't believe how loaded with chicken they were. Since then we have stopped at WAWA when in Clermont and even took my SIL there for lunch when she visited. Never been disappointed.

Lovey2 06-29-2016 07:28 AM

short answer: Philly pretzels and fabulous iced coffees!! Long answer: all of the above including freshly made hoagies, fresh donuts, customer service and clean, neat stores....

Have been to a Wawa once before (Margate City NJ) and look forward to its opening. But I also wonder about the traffic configuration at that site. Can't see how it could be an easy in and out. I hope I'm wrong.

Madelaine Amee 06-29-2016 10:14 AM

Do they have a true Philly Cheesesteak sandwich? Or, as we used to call them, a Philly Pepper Steak sandwich?

I hope the location is 466A and not 466 already too much here

villagetinker 06-29-2016 03:07 PM

My wife and I are looking forward to the new WAWA. She will probably be first inline on opening day.

466

Villager Joyce 06-29-2016 04:51 PM

There was a WAWA between our house and the hospital. When my husband had surgery and was in the hospital for several days, I ate every meal at WAWA. Had coupons so cheap, good and convenient.

JoMar 06-29-2016 05:17 PM

She will have to race my wife......:)

The over building on the two lane CR 472 and the continuation of building on 466 is making access to 301 and 475 more difficult. I suspect something is in the works to one day alleviate some of this congestion. Expansion of territory is in our DNA but so is adaptation and the aversion to taxes, hence the massive movement to Florida

Perhaps they'll add rotaries to better deal with the traffic?

Funny name ...WAWA.....is it short for something else.....

wawa,,usually means crying....

Lovey2 06-30-2016 07:08 AM

Wawa is named after a small area in Delaware County,Pennsylvania where they have their corporate headquarters. Wawa to me, usually meant water, like when asking children if they want some wawa.

I don't believe I have ever been to a WaWa. Sounds mighty good. I will have to try it.

However, knowing the TOTV forums, how soon after they open, will there be a complaint about the food, drinks, or customer service and we see the reply, "Well, what did the manager say"?

From Wikipedia: The name of the town Wawa is derived from the Ojibwe word for the Canada goose (taken from The Song of Hiawatha). The company is owned by a family named Woods, one of the largest privately owned companies in this country. Really interesting story, sounds a lot like the Morse story.

Indian names are very unusual - we sold our northern home to a couple from Ho-Ho-Kus and when I saw that on the purchase order I thought it was a joke until I researched the name and found that the median price of a home in Ho-Ho-Kus is $1M.

Chatbrat 06-30-2016 02:58 PM

The only thing I remember about WAWA, it was a good pit stop gas & restroom--can't get excited about any roadside , food -when we did a 8 month cross country tour subway was our bailout food in an emergency--Denny's in Billings, Mt was the absolute worst meal of the entire trip--chicken salad hacked out of a chicken roll
