Good point, Nitehawk. I don't recall a similar outpouring of concern over the billions spent on the war in Iraq which gained us....mmmmm...let's see..the loss of 5,000+ brave American lives. Where was the outrage then?

This isn't just Republicans. I know many Democrats who are participating, also. For me, it's not just the income taxes. We are taxed to death on everything. We spent the other night in a hotel and there was over $30.00 worth of taxes and fees. Look at your utility, phone and other bills. Check out how much is added for taxes. Compare what oil companies make on a gallon of gas and then look at what the state and federal government make on it. Why will anyone have any incentive to work hard if its all going to Uncle Sam?

Went to the SECO annual meeting. Speaker said there is a carbon tax in the works--if passed would probably add at least $50.00 per month to the electric bill.

They won't answer the question, because they can't answer the question without looking bad. They know the war was one of the big reasons taxes are necessary to keep the country afloat, and so many of them were pro-war.

These tax hikes are NOT related to the Iraq war. They are being forced upon the citizens of this country to promote Socialism, more big government, everything our Founders left England to escape.

The "tax hike" that bothers me the most, and I am nowhere near to knowledgeable on this, is the one that will happen because of the "war" on anything corporate.

Seems to me that the taking away of anything beneficial with taxes relative to the corporations will translate into higher costs for all of us. Corporations dont pay taxes, they never have under any administration...it will be added to the cost of goods. This applies to energy, etc.

But, on subject, don't let the facts keep you from the truth. I'm not right or left. I want this country to survive and I see it going down the tubes under this admin. That's not to say that Republicans are not just as bad. But if you read at all, you can see that I have written often about getting representatives who share Conservative values and are Constitutionalists to run in primaries and oust these lifers in Congress. It's a process. It won't happen overnight, but this nation cannot afford to sit silent any longer. Actions have consequences and as a United States citizen I have and we all have to dig out of this mess so that our kids will at least have as much as I did growing up.

Our President and his administration are sickening and destructive and dangerous. I'd say it is time for a REAL CHANGE. The change BHO has brought you can take back to Chicago.

So getting back to the posting subject.

Whew! Just in time. E-filed today. Regarding the tea parties...very interesting. A response that big is very telling, and represents, as does any gathering, only a portion of those concerned with the issue. As for being "sponsored" by FOX News. Not true. Encouraged. Yes. Appreciated. Yes. and Covered by....yes, (unlike the NY Times who doesn't see a story here. Nor do any of the other arms of Tass or Pravda.

I did show up at the Crown Point rally. There was a good representation of people. From talking to several of the people they were there for different reasons. I for one don't want my taxes going up to pay for waste. Crook county Illinois is a good example.

This was certainly not meant for you personally, and if you took it that way I apologize. However, I am offended that thousands of people decided to take action in an event sponsored by Fox news (propaganda) literally took action over taxes as opposed to protesting the wrongful war in Iraq.

Now people will quibble over the word "sponsored", so let's just say Fox News promoted it, organized it , and suckered people into it.

The taxes are being raised if you make $250K or more. It's a false scenario. I am a fun loving person but I can't ignore a wrong. And to make such a silly, non-productive fuss over something that's about money and not wrongfully killed American youngsters causes me to put my funny bone away. The war cost over 3 Trillion dollars and still going. The war cost close to 5000 lives and hundreds of thousands of civilian lives and still counting. Someone is dying every minute due to lack of food or water, while the right wing is out having a T.E.A. party.

First of all, many people do not see the Iraq War as wrongful, and actually took the time to understand the why and how of it. We've debated the Iraq war issue several times on this forum, and we all have our viewpoints. None are wrongful, just different. I happen to agree with the war, but my perspective is probably based on a different information stream, and not one out to seek supportive zealots.

As far as who organized what, it seemed okay for many what ACORN and others did as "community organizers." Or is that role only permissible for the Democratic Party selected and approved folk?

Regarding the over-$250K per year folk, why should they or anyone pay more than tax than someone else? If we are to have a tax based on productivity - and that's what it is - then the rate should be level and not exploitive against a minority population by the majority population. There is no difference in taxing a racial minority at a higher rate than taxing an economic minority at a higher rate. Or should we start looking at taxing religious minorities at a higher rate. Or should we tax tall people at a different rate than short people. Worse yet, should we tax over-60 people (a definite minority) at a higher rate than the under-60? Where's the cut line? We are all equal or we are not.

That's what the tea parties are all about - equality. Do we really believe in it, or is it a fluid concept which we manipulate for our own convenience?
