Scary

It's scary to think that this guy was one heartbeat away from the most powerful political position in the world for eight whole years.

Is he planning a book or even on a book tour? Usually it's some pecuniary interest that results in people running off at the mouth as he's been doing.

Guest 06-09-2009 07:17 AM

Dick Cheney tells it like it is, you just don't want to hear it. For me it's a lot worse to see who is a heart beat away today. Joe Biden couldn't carry Dick Cheney's luggage.

I love Dick Cheney!! I always wished he was President instead of Bush. It's about time somebody started defending the previous administration. Everything they did wasn't bad. The road Obama is taking us down scares me to death.

Lord have mercy, you feel better about Joe(gaffe a day)Biden? barf

Regarding telling Dick Cheney to shut up... so much for free speech. But then again Liberals always believe in free speech as long as it's what THEY want to hear or what THEY want to have said, otherwise it must be silenced.

How typical.

But here we are still hamming on the Bush administration while BO is bending America over the table as some people totally look the other way. NICE!

Biden received five deferments from the draft and thus never had to serve in Vietnam. After the fifth deferment Biden was not eligible for service because of childhood asthma, an ailment that had never been previously disclosed. In Biden’s stories about his life (in his book Promises to Keep) he discussed having an active childhood and playing football and other sports. There is no mention of asthma and no mention of any limited ability. Since Biden voted FOR the 2002 invasion of Iraq but received five deferments from service, does that make him a chicken hawk?

Funny how the press likes to talk about Cheney's deferments but Biden's deferments are off limits.

I’ll tell you something that’s scary if not outright dangerous. Our current chain of command. Obama, Biden and Pelosi.

IMO, it's a good comparison. Neither of them are equipped to be president.

Guest 06-09-2009 08:59 AM

One of the rights we still cling to in this country is free speech.

As for Mr. Cheney, my hat's off to him. He is right on with his comments.

As far as a heart beat away from President -- Lord have mercy, look who we have NOW. That's enough to scare a person silly. I mean truly, look where we have come in the first 4+ months. He has dismantled this free Republic of ours and intends to abolish it.

CHENEY --- Keep talking -- maybe some of these folks on TOTV will wake up.

Dick Cheney is the most non politician politician around....hence why he is not liked

He does not tailor what he says to please who is listening (right or wrong).
He says what he thinks. Does what he thinks is right...and like all politicians caters to the lobbyists and special interest groups he favors.

Therefore he is a true politician....he just doesn't peddle the feel good diatribe diet we the people have come to enjoy and adore (for some reason). He is of the talk is cheap school.

And for those who have the audacity to refer to him as a scary thought being 2nd in line to POTUS.......that is pure partisan rhetorical BS....all one has to do is look at who is 2nd in line today.....and 3rd Nancy Pelosibarf....should keep any being with a pulse awake at night.....hoping and praying they are smart enough to not let BHO and Biden both get in harms way at the same time....only a true party loyalist no matter what would not consider her a bigger risk than anything on the political horizon.

Bush - Cheney - Hastert wasn't exactly a dream team chain of command either. Maybe one of these days the lineup will improve.

Say what you want, Cheney may not have had the personality of a Clinton, Obama, or Biden, but I would feel very safe with him as my Commander In Chief.

Oh no, another politician writing a book (Audacity of Hope, It takes a Village) and running his (her) mouth off. The "audacity" of him.:crap2:

Holy Cats!

This thread has morphed from someone suggesting that Dick Cheney shut up to comparisons and criticisms of the current VP, to an analysis of the chain of command, one iteration of which had Denny Hastert in the mix.

I responded early on, saying that, yes I believe that Cheney had eight years to say his piece and do his thing, now it's time for him to retire and be quiet, IMHO.

On the other subjects introduced to this thread, I guess it's worthwhile putting in my two cents...
  • Cheney was devious and dangerous, maneuvering to achieve his personal purposes even if it meant undermining and subverting those of his President, who he was supposed to be serving.
  • While Cheney was devious, clandestine and self-serving, Biden is at least loyal, even if a little unpredictable at times. At least he's honest and forthright. If if ever got to him in the succession, I'm convinced that America would be a safer and more respected place than it would have been if Cheney was the commander-in-chief..
  • I don't like the current third in succession any better than I liked it when the old wrestling coach, Denny Hastert, was third in line. Either Pelosi or Hastert make for a sad commentary on the quality of political leadership available to lead our country.
Let the hollering and yelling begin.:cus:

Guest 06-09-2009 11:17 AM

There has been a tradition as old as dirt that a previous president refrain from criticizing the present Commander in Chief. Unfortunately, Jimi Carter decided to stop this tradition and shoot his mouth off every where he went. Apparently, the lamest president in recent memory found it easier to criticize then to actually govern.
Dick Cheney has every right to voice his opinion especially since the current occupant of the White House does not know how to accept responsibility and blame everything wrong on his predecessor.

The last time I checked the First Amendment, there was no proviso that previous national office-holders were to be muzzled upon leaving office. They used to have the same freedom-of-speech rights as any other citizen, and I don't think that's changed.....

Is there any good reason why a previous national office-holder's free speech right should be lawfully suspended?

Guest 06-10-2009 12:34 PM

And after Pelosi comes Sen. Byrd and Sec. Clinton. Lord help us all.

No, there is no reason for free speech to be denied to a previous administration member. All bets were off when Carter violated the unwritten courtesy of criticizing the present administration.
Also, I don't remember a current administration criticizing and blaming the past administration for everything that is going wrong with his own policies like Obama has and still is doing.

Guest 06-10-2009 01:59 PM

If you could not state it when your if office, dont state it now.
If you did not voice your opionion as you felt you should have while in office Please dont now..

Bottom line,, No rule, no law broken, no one cares, but since you asked, he runs off more now then he did then.. What did he have a pillow shoved in his mouth or somethng then?

Guest 06-10-2009 02:31 PM

I so rarely look at this topic, because it's always a bunch of nice people yelling and screaming at each other!

Personally, I think Mr. Cheney should keep his mouth shut, just the way Mr. Bush is doing. I'm not sure that either of them have much gray matter between their ears, but Mr. Bush seems to be taking an appropriate path.

I think :agree: wholeheartedly with Villages Kahuna.

I agree. Maybe Mr. Cheney wouldn't have to say anything if the press did their job. As long as Obama runs his mouth off and blames Bush... It takes a man with a weak morale compass to blame others.

The only thing I will say about that is, wasnt Obama that got us here!!!!!!!! Cheney doesnt want to go down looking bad. Regaurdless of what Obama has done since taking office, Cheney would still have something to say. The man wanted to be the man, then he should of ran for president. He wants that title so bad!!!
That is his downfall, he just dont know when to pipe down and let the tide roll on.

Ladies and Genlemen: Have you not figured this intricate puzzle out after eight long years of the two who could NEVER be wrong? Dick Cheney WAS the President! People from Texas ony come to the govt. when nothing else pans out.......Cheney wanted to crush, kill, cause mayhem from the get go!

Guest 06-11-2009 08:31 AM

All points taken in the spirit of that great American freedom....

of speech and personal opinion!!!! May it continue in the future as in the past!!

There is, as usual with the back looking comparos, a little confusing......just how do all the negative aspects presented differ from the current administration....oh I get it....party affiliation!!!! Therefore the names change ....the games the same or worse?
