Is The Villages your home, now?
Do you live here full time or part time. Do you have a feeling of coming home when you return to The Villages?
What is the one thing you like best about The Villages? The Villages FEELS like home to us now. My husband would probably answer that Golf was his favorite thing, but to ME, I love the beauty; the mix of houses and green spaces and the cleanliness. How about you? |
I close on my new home in TV of Pinellas in one month. I thought my home here in New England would have sold by now but it hasn't. So disappointing. Anyway, I am looking forward to the day I can call TV my home. What I like about TV is it's beauty, safety, lots of friendly people, and with so much recreation available I should never get bored.

I live here full time but my heart remains in Ohio where most of my kids live. I like the beauty and cleanliness of TV
|
Home Sweet Home for sure.
The best thing.............My Bride. (just in case) After her.............. Our neighbors. Golf Cart Life. The Beauty of the area. Really enjoy all the golfers I meet on the course. Love learning more about lobsters. ((Sorry GG, went over the limit)) |
This is home, for 11 years now. It did take a little bit of time to feel like it was home and I wasn't on vacation...;). The place is beautiful, and as time has passed, there are more shops, stores, businesses locating in the area. There is more traffic, but still much less than we were dealing with in CA. There's activities, events, within our community and also in those small and large cities near us. Have many friends here, and we share a common bond...we left where we lived to specifically move to this community. I'm thankful every day, we did.
|
I think that the people that live here offer unending stories of success. Some have raised amazing children, some have been pioneers in all kinds of ways. I love to listen to the journey of life that brought them here.

I've always made anywhere I've lived, home.

After retirement, I followed my wife (in her career) to SW Missouri, south Louisiana, back to eastern Missouri and then across the state to western Missouri. Every place has been home.
Even though we really miss being close to the kids and grandkids, we really enjoy everything that TV has to offer and can't wait to get back inside the bubble every time we leave. It's the pinnacle of golf for us. |

It’s the rare house that one would make hundreds of thousands on. About like telling a kid he is sure to become a major league baseball player and make millions. Of course we all have our fantasies. I have seen most break even or gain a very modest amount on the sale of there home in TV during the past four years after examining all of the cost. Home is where I now live so TV will be called home. Where I will die has yet to be foretold. |

The further north a house is located in TV, the less home appreciation to be expected. Huge bargains to be had north of 466 on golf/water front. My Aunt bought/built her designer 14 years ago in Woodbury. House still can't appraise for what she paid for it then. The future of TV is the Brownwood area, ask any TV sales agent. Despite the negatives people said about Brownwood several years ago, the tables have recently changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It is a patio villa and in 2014 when it was built, it sold for $117, now the going rate for patio villa's is right around $180. I chose it because I have been watching and remembering how much this model has gone up...all over The Villages. A friend bought one in Alhambra now four years ago and he paid much more than he had expected, but not so much as they are selling for now. I follow this, not because I am in real estate, but because it interests me. I will now go look for a designer in Woodbury. |

It's not impossible I guess timing is everything. |
When people ask about The Villages my answer is FUN!
|
I love that I have the time to explore fun things that I had never tried before. Since I moved here I have tried colored pencils, acrylic paints and water colors and attended my first ever post high school art class. The level of skill in the arts here is amazing, not only visual arts, but music and theater too.

Anyone who doesn't know this, there might be a few. If you want to know the selling history of a home log into Sumterpa.com Or Marion County or Lake County property appraiser site. Be sure it is Florida. On Sumter's site, do not put the last part of the address, such as circle, drive, boulevard.
Now I have hi jacked my own thread. |

Fist I must say, I am aTexan. Texas will always be in my heart but TV is my home. Nothing feels better than being away and coming down 466 and seeing Welcome to The Villages. I can not imagine living anyplace else. I love everything about our life here but I love going back to visit Texas, my birthplace and identity.
|
Every time I go to visit my family up north, all I want to do is come back home to The Villages. As much as I love my family and the area that I came from, this is the place I want to be.
I used to go for Christmas, but from now on it's only for weddings and funerals. And only if those involved are very close relatives. |
We feel better when we are closing in on TV'S from Hollywood Fl, or New Jersey. It is not any single thing that makes us happy to be here it's the sum total of all the beautiful things that are available to be involved in. The Health Care for us is so much better here. We have Doctors who listen to us and don't process us and we are slowly becoming healthier because of their patience.
I love the older friends I've made here. I love to listen to their life experiences and their gratefulness for another day adheres to us. Our attitudes have improved since TV'S is our home now but it will take a while to lose that edge that we know we have. Money wise in Real Estate I don't think it would be to hard to make money here. |

We have owned since 2012, full time since 2014. We are frogs.
I love it here! The beauty, the friendly folks, the dear friends that are have become family. The activities and golf is also what keeps us here. I do have one question for those who have been here awhile.....does the smile or joyous feeling ever leave you? I know we all have bad days and set backs, especially when we loose a friend or neighbor, it just seems like I am smiling most days! When we do leave and come back through the gates, I swear the air smells different, cleaner, fresher, and I'm able to deep breathe! |
I love this thread...please keep the posts coming.
|
Nothing will ever replace the feeling of home I get when we visit the awesome city we grew up in.
Every place else we've lived is fine, but that one is home. |
Home is where the cat is and my cat is in TV. I can't stay sad or mad when I'm in the golf cart whether I'm going somewhere or no where.
|
I have a slightly different view. I lived on LI because I was born there and my parents lived there. I lived in NYC because I went to school there. I lived in central NY because my job was there. But I live in TV because I CHOOSE to. IMHO, a great choice!
|
This is home. Love the people and all the activities, plus the florida sunshine.

Sometimes when I am riding in the cart with Helene to go to an art activity at Laurel Manor, I think that Millionaires in the past, extremely wealthy people like the Vanderbilts, couldn't have lived much differently than all of us do who live in The Villages.
There are miles and miles and miles of perfectly beautiful landscaping, dozens of golf courses and tennis courts maintained by others, flowers changed out every eight weeks, gorgeous large structures where we can go to craft or to paint or to dance or to listen or to play cards. Entertainment every night if we want to attend, enjoyable people to meet who each have interesting life stories............ Sometimes I even think, that if there is no heaven, at least I got to live like I am in Paradise. |
We love TV been here over 6 years. There is no place in US (I believe) that comes close to what we all get for $145/month. I love TV not Florida. Grew up in New England and love it there too. Our solution, down size twice. NE and TV... The best of both IMO

Wherever we have lived we have called home. This is our only home. I think it is the people that makes The Villages special.
|
We have been here since the 24th of April. Renting most of that time while or house is being built. So far it is a happy place. We Have noticed when we drive into TV from the outside everything seems tidier, well kept flowers and vibrant grass. While reading this thread, I decided it is a lot like college. Everyone seems to be in a similar stage in life. People are extremely active, going in different directions, but with similar goals. In this case it is not to get a degree, but to find enjoyment everyday. That includes all interacting with very interesting people.
We go everyday to visit the house. The neighbors make a point to come over while we are there. They included us in a 4th party and in some pickle ball at the rec center. We have taken some classes at other rec centers and those people have been equally as welcoming. Had us sub at a neighborhood activity and not our area, or is it. Sounds like home to me. |
We have always said that wherever we are, it's home. Michigan is our "home state", and we still own a home there, our kids and grands are there, but, The Villages is the home where our heart is. We love every single thing about it.
|
We just closed on the sale of our home on a lake in Northern Michigan (Lewiston) today. It is bitter sweet but we have called the Villages home for a few years now, after just spending our 8th winter there, and we can travel wherever our heart desires in the hot summer months of Florida. We will be returning to the bubble early August this year, and have a chance to play in the Member/Member and the Village cup tournaments. Always look forward to returning and getting back to a good healthy lifestyle routine!!
|
It's home! We retired and moved here 2 years ago this week. We are full time and thank God every day.
|
I long for the kids and grandkids but after chasing them around, I've come to realize it's a wee bit of a fruitless effort. It's time to live after a lifetime of work and TV is a good place to do just that.
|
Just sold my home up north. The villages is home, and I love it here.
|
This became home when I bought in 2007. I became full time in 2008. Before that I commuted on weekends, buying furniture, window treatments and everything else it takes to furnish a new home. Today my older son found a place within a half mile from me. The Villages is his new home effective in April. My younger son has children and is 2 hours away. You can't wipe the grin off my face. í ½í¸Š
