Bush Blamed for Olympic 2016 Loss
 

It didn't take long for the liberal lemmings to blame President Bush for the Obamas failed effort in Copenhagen. Given the speed of the reaction Democratic Illinois Senator Rowland Burris , you know the guy that bought the seat in Chicago, sped to a microphone to pronounce the inability to deliver the fault of President Bush. The shear speed of the response suggests it had to be a canned blame Bush reprise. Blaming Bush for Obama's failures is an accurate reflection of the unimaginative, stale, sterile, lack luster, liberal leadership occupying seats in the People's House and Congress in Washington.

Yes I watched Roland Burris make an ass of himself on TV. I see that he and Jesse Jackson JR are watchdog list of 15 most corrupt politicians in USA.
When I heard the news that Chicago had lost I called several friends and we will be going to a local watering hole to celebrate . I can't tell you just how pleased I am to see the Crooks from Crook county can't get their greedy paws on more money they will steal. What a go Rio

I believe what Burris said was wrong wrong wrong. I dont think anyone is really to blame that the U.S. did not get the Olympics, I think it was more about giving the Southern Countries a chance. I do believe that by celebrating the loss to Chicago hurts the General Population not the ones you are aiming at. Isn't your remarks a little bit Politically biased????

More Chicago residents were against the Olympics than there for the Olympics. Hell they wanted to buid the 80,000 seat staium in Lincoln Park only to tear it down after the Olympics. I think the IOC made a brilliant choice. I thought this was the Polital Forum. DUH :clap2::clap2::clap2:

Burris.....gives the Democratic party a bad name. Good thing he isn't running for re-election. But then again he wasn't elected.

Actually it is sad....the older Mayor Daly would have found a way to payoff the committee. You heard about the old women who wanted to be buried in Chicago, just so she could remain active in politics.

The olympics, while a big deal, are simply a symptom of what is happening with this Presidency.

He is a rock star...a great speaker..and folks are beginning to treat him like the "empty suit" he has been called. I, while I opposed and still do oppose his domestic agenda totally, am hoping that he snaps out of this rock star image with no substance.

He promised to engage this countries enemies and we will be talking with Iran as announced this week, SOMETHING THAT IRAN HAS WANTED FOR YEARS

He scrapped the missle defense system in hopes that maybe Russia and China would then favor sanctions to Iran...they have not budged on that !

He announced an Afghan strategy 6 months ago, and while it is smart at times to revisit, he is leaving his generals hanging out to dry while he changes his mind after 6 months on a war that at the time he said was a worthy war !

He stopped calling the war on terror, the war on terror...and those in Gtmo are not called terrorists anymore, HOWEVER, I am linking to an article written today by Cal Thomas which exposes why it is taking so long to get Gtmo closed. It seems that the "terrorists" that are there, are actually terrorists and they are having trouble placing them anywhere in the world. This administration calls these terrorists refugees and they have received so much sympathy from so many in this country but when you tear back the wrappings...there are terrorists, plain and simple.

BTW, have any of you actually been to Chicago? It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Politics aside, you are dumping on some of the most wonderful people you'll ever meet, just to say something hateful about your President. I'm very proud to be from Chicago. Mayor Daily is 1000% for his citizens. Burris is an ass and not beloved in Chi at all. I did not hear what he said, but if he's blaming Bush... that's just plain ridiculous.

Does doing some undergrad work at Northwestern in Evanston (circa 60's) count? I remember a neat watering hole in Skokie where all the bartenders were magicians. Can't remember the name, but, would if I heard it. Anybody know it?

It would have been noble for the President to push for Detroit where they really could have used the economic and redevelopment boost instead of playing political favoritism and patronage games with the Daley machine. It could have created jobs and redevelopment opportunity for arguably the most heavily devastated and unemployment challenged urban area in the country. He would have had my support for his efforts.

It was not just Burris....the Chicago Sun Times has an editorial today that talks about how it was lost because Obama was unable to turn around the USA image which Jessie Jackson is quoted as saying basically the same thing, and as the days go on I can assure you there will be more of this !

With all due respect and your snide comments aside, from my perspective that "small minded, sad little group of people" that you lovingly refer to is not "happy that AMERICA did not get the Olympics" because of Chicago, but the arrogance once again displayed by our President.

When Tony Blair did the work for London and the 2012 Olympics, he spent days there talking and meeting with the folks that he had to convince. Our President, who more and more is acting like a rock star instead of a President, flew in and spoke......and by the way, it is reported that his speech was biographical in nature, in other words PERSONAL...and that that his mere showing up would clinch the deal.

It does not work that way in the real world, whether you like it or not.

Those who you sarcastically go after just want our President to be the President and instead of all the tv appearances, the rock star atttidue...attack the issues like Iran, Afghanastan, etc.

I sure do not criticize him for trying to get the olympics, but it sure seemed like a bad time (Afghanastan for example) to try and do what he did however but folks can sense when you feel that your presence alone is sufficient.

Maybe, just maybe, if the President and his wife had not spoken about THEMSELVES and more about the country the vote would have been different, however I dont think even that would have helped !

And how much did this trip cost taxpayers and how big of a carbon footprint did he leave in his wake? When we got the lowest amount of votes, I was so embarrassed. He needs to wake up!

I for one did not say anything bad against the people of Chicago. I am there at least 6 times a year and I do enjoy the lakefront and restaurants along with Navy Pier. I do NOT like the politicians of CROOK county. Do not like all the taxes from bottled water to parking. I used to take my boat there and dock for a day, it is now cost prohibitive.
The last survey I saw the people of Chicago were 65% against the Olympics. I believe they too were getting tired of the Politicos. Last night evening news they had surveys If they wanted 2010 Olympics . Survey was 75% against another try.
Bucco is correct. Obama and Oprah thought they had the votes, I'm glad the IOC voted as they did. It was funny to see Burris blame Bush for their loss.

in England did an editorial strictly aimed at the current US President and his short comings to date. The article gave him good grades for eloquence and a "failing" grade for accomplishment. It went into detail about his speeches outside the US promising what was to happen with no results.

One thing I came to appreciate while in Europe (and desperately miss) is the Europeans candor. Their thought process is not clouded by the interruption of reality by political correctness....as we are here in the USA. They say what they think.....quite refreshing. They also (like a lot of us here in the US) that when the head of the country gets up on the stage and pontificates what will happen.....they are really wierd....they expect it to happen.

I find that the non USA editorial from around the world to be much more informative than the puppeteer media of the USA. Try it. You will see a huge difference of opinion. The other aspect many will not like is they do not go back in time to recalibrate a current event in terms of somebody elses watch. The current administration owns it from day one.

Anyway my pitch for this mornings round.

Does anybody think Nancy and her "gang" won't try to use they majority vote (if they can get one) to pass what ever they want in the name of health care reform......or if only Olympia Snow does fall in their direction that they won't crow about how bi-partisan they are. That too may be legal but it sure ain't representative democracy!!!

I have been to Chicago many times. For the most part I have liked Chi. However, today, Chicago is little more than a toilet. I understand that nobody wants to admit that they live in a toilet. Chi is corrupt. It has been for as long as I can remember. Daily is a thug, just as his father before him was a thug.

I would have liked Chicago to get the Olympics but since they did not, I am happy that the games will be held in SA. Don't call me small minded, just honest. Chi sucks. It is not the fault of the people but the fault of the politicians.

I am totallly opposed to his domestic agenda but willing to give him time and support for a bit on international but thus far I am not impressed in anyway....Iran has gotten what they couldnt get for years...one on one sitdown....after a strategy of 6 months of Afghan strategy, we are about to change and a number of other things bother me a lot.

AND I will continue to call those folks in Gtmo terrorists and not refugees and hope you can do some reading on these wonderful people we have imprisoned there and how well they live !

Obama's only been in office for 10 months. I recall the republicans blaming Clinton for 9/11! Condi and Bush/Cheney had the "strike in America" info and sat on their hands and did nothing. Obama "lost" the Olympics big deal, Bush/Cheney lied and we've wasted, yes wasted, 4600+ lives and billions of dollars on their chickenhawk(none of the architects of this boondoggle served in Viet Nam when they were needed) warmongering and lies/incompetence.

Driving drunk and dieing is wasted, dieing from a drug overdose is wasted, dieing at the hands of one own parents abuse is wasted, dieing from smoking related cancer is wasted and I could go on and on. A soldier loosing his life in service to his country is NEVER WASTED. It is a loss for sure, no one wants to lose a son, daughter, father, mother, friend, from any cause. I agree the word WASTED is an unfortunate choice. However, as an Aunt of now 3 nephews in the military....Marines, Army and Navy. And the Aunt of a Purple Heart recipient I would have preferred his life be put a risk to defend the USA not to nation build. And certainly not because the VP was ****ed off that the job hadn't been finished the first time.

My nephew's service should not be diminished in any way by the conflict in which he served.

Personally I don't really give a crap about the Olympics anyway but more importantly I don't care what the rest of the world thinks of us either.

I'd rather have them not like us rather than roll over us which is what's going to happen under Obama. They might not have liked us under Bush but that's better than being viewed as a weak kneed joke under Obama. Obama is weak and they know it.

Let's see, who was it that saved most of Europe in WWII? Who gives billions and billions of dollars to other countries? Who sheds most of the blood when other countries need help? Who's doctors travel around the world helping others who don't have access to specialized care? For free!

Another interesting fact. The UK, Germany, and others seem to have a resurgence of conservatism in their governments. Look who's winning the elections over there.

I am proud of your nephews, for their service and sacrifice to our country.

That being said, when one joins the service one is subject to the Commander in Chiefs orders. You don't get to pick whether or not you like where or why you are sent, only to serve the Country as ordered. The military way.

YOU may not prefer the reasons they are at risk, no one wants their friends or family in harms way, but ask THEM their emotions on their service to America. I'll bet they are proud of their service, feel that they are contributing to the peoples of Iraq and Afghanistan and that they feel that they are protecting their family's safety at home. Heaven forbid that any of them is harmed, but if they are look beyond their sacrifice as being wasted, but as the fighters that keep the world a free from evil.

The American eagle became the centerpiece of the Great Seal of the United States in 1782 It was officially designate as the National Emblem in 1787. The eagle stands for the spirit of liberty and freedom so many have sacrificed so much for. The people I served with would treat disrespecting the eagle, our national emblem, with the same disdain as someone who desecrated an American flag. Most patriots would as well.

If you look very closely, you would see I chose to use the symbol of the "crying eagle" for my icon. Sometimes, because of technical anomalies connected with this site, the flowing tears don't always show. I selected it because it expressed and symbolized my belief in the insidious erosion of the liberty and freedom our proud national emblem stands for.

It has been said that another major reason the U.S. was not a contender for the Olympics was because of our very tight security for foreigners entering the country. We had many pluses, including a transit system already in place, as well as many buildings in place, etc. that could be used for the events. Now Rio will be forking out a lot of money to improve their infrastructure. I wouldn't blame Obama totally for this loss, but I'm sure his ego felt stepped on. My mother used to say "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." I give him a lot of credit for trying to create jobs here. It just looked like it was So. America's turn to host this event.

GNU.... I didn't use the word wasted and I would not. But I do believe that GW Bush really didn't think or care about the troops. (I can hear the incoming now)....One only has to look at the adminstrations policy's towards the troops like the GI Bill and funding of the Vets Hospitals to understand that.

It is my opinion that the Commander and Chief should not ask the troops to make the sacrifice if the war in question is NOT in the defense of the USA. In this case, again in my opinion and I am entitled to my opinion this war was NOT.
