Yeah, Seafood! About time! I just hope the menu does not become stagnate like the owners other restaurants.
|
Quality seafood is the key. Quality fish and quality chef. One can only hope. We'll see.

Just hope its not overseas raise shrimp and tilapia--we love shrimp, but after checking out how fish is farmed overseas--no more shrimp while dining out
Now going off topic--fixed income-I read where the majority of home owners in TV have no mortgage and when combined with an avg Income of $80K - they should not have to settle for the quality of food in TV $80K is almost double the family income of people living in communities adj to TV--check teachers salaries ,police & fire salaries You are really fortunate you didn't work in FL if you did , you would not be living here |
So what are the other restaurants withe the same owner? That knowledge would allow others to draw their own opinion.
|
Bonifay,Evans Prairie, Belle Glade, Scooples,-get ready for more pre-packed food from his purveyor-but if $3.00 martini's and $5.00 flat breads float your boat--enjoy--
Willing to bet the BONE has nothing to worry about |
If it is the same as the one in Times Square, let's say it would be for tourists. And get a second mortgage and eat before you go. Tiny, tiny portions. A place where Vern from Iowa would sadly get ripped off after seeing "Hamilton."

By the way, three online maps - Google, Bing and MapQuest - each placed the pin at different locations for the address. Go figure! |

Look at their menu pretty obvious. |
I have noticed that "Villagers" want "quality" restaurants, etc, but they also are tight fisted with money.
A "RUTH's CHRIS" in any part of The Villages would fail because "Villagers" would not actually support quality. They like free entertainment, free golf, 2 for 1 drinks, (Florida is low cost compared to Northeast), etc. Waiters tell me tips are pretty low in THE VILLAGES. People, you get what you pay for. Rule 1. |
I had customers of mine, that were in the food prep business, most of the food in " pedestrian restaurants" is the same --it comes off the same conveyors, same flash freezers--its the same and its all headed to most of the restaurants here and served to you via microwave and big boil kettles.
Most of all the food here is not cooked for YOU-- |

I have never had a wait staff tell me how poorly everyone tips here. If they did I would expect they are not that good at their job. |

As for bucks at the final curtain. It is better to have a few too many than a few too few. |

The Owner/Owners of the new Bluefish restaurant apparently have a “business model” that is working in The Villages.
$15/$16 dinners seems to be about right for most dinners with residents willing to pay a few dollars more on special occasions. The tips are what they are and the food is what it is. As the population of The Villages continues to grow, perhaps a true up-scale restaurant could be profitable in or near The Villages. We will see..... |

Thank god some don’t know where those you don’t like live, or one might find a mob outside of their door because that person thinks, eats, or looks, differently than you. When we eat out we spend money in a restaurant that can prepare food well. Not a snob just enjoy fresh well prepared food. We find a drive to a Disney, Tampa, Ocala or just to go to a Costco not a big deal for us. We both travel for a living so driving is never a big deal. One might find the younger residents leave the bubble more than those who don’t feel comfortable driving. As to servers we don’t do fast food, so that’s out. As for speaking to servers about how the residents are not tipping how does that conversation start. Hi I am your server, that table only gave me 10% and that table didn’t tip me at all, so what do you want. so I am wondering that if some only tip 10%, or 15%, have any of you thought maybe that’s all they can afford. Maybe it’s not about the service, or the food, maybe after they pay the bill, that all their budget will allow. We entertain, sometimes up to 40 people at our home. Conversation is rarely about what size home you live in that’s just rude. It’s mostly about what Village, where did you originate from, can I have the recipe, and I love that vase where did you get it. I was raised to value the opinion of others, just because One doesn’t have the same opinion, it does not make them evil or better than you. For some its ok to bully someone because there opinions are different. |

I really like Too Jays and some of the hostesses and waitresses there. We rarely get down to restaurants in the Brownwood area so it might take something special to get us to take a longer drive. |

I, for one, wish FMK Restaurant Group well in this venture. Seafood is an underserved commodity in this area. And for those who say TV won't support higher prices, please explain why Bonefish is jammed every night of the week with an average ticket of $30-$40 per person? Before Hemmingway's lost it's key Chef, they had the best fresh seafood menu anywhere around TV and it wasn't $15 per person. Other factors drove them under but they never lacked for customers with that menu. Can't wait for September!

I agree with most of what you've said

As to disrespecting people who do not share your opinion. Condi Rice says if all your friends agree with you, YOU NEED SOME NEW FRIENDS. |
