New Trailwinds Village Businesses

1 Attachment(s)
Update: See message #12. All these businesses might not be coming.

As far as I know, nothing has been publicly announced, but the developer of Trailwinds Village, Barclay Group, is now showing many tenants.

New on the "map"
Publix
TJ Maxx
Hobby Lobby
Ulta Beauty Supply
Wendy's
Taco Bell
Heartland Dental
Burger King
First Watch
Starbucks
Chili's
Pet Paradise
Hilton Hotels

Already announced
Legacy Lifestyles assisted living facility
VyStar Credit Union

Already open
ABC Liquor
Aldi
Lowe's

Under construction
Multi-shops building that will include Jersey Mike's
Circle K

I can tell you not to put any faith in the areas on the "map" that don't have a company logo or a red call-out. I have watched this map change over time and those areas are nothing more than conceptual ideas/suggestions.

OCsun 06-10-2018 04:12 PM

Yippie! Starbucks!

JSR22 06-10-2018 04:14 PM

Ugh! No decent restaurants. Surprised about Publix!

In the building now under construction between Aldis and ABC Liquor, it's labeled 11,750 Shops, you can see a small Jersey Mike's Logo. I've talked to the owner Jake of the Lady Lake Jersey Mike's and he confirmed he has signed on and hopes to be open around Oct or Nov.

Well there are going to be lots of happy people about hobby lobby. Still no TJ.

No, that's been discussed on TOTV many times over the last couple of years. TV tried to buy the land about 3 years ago for more home construction. Wildwood actually voted against TV, said they wanted commercial business. The land sat vacant a few more months and then the Barclay Group by Clearwater bought the land. The property was under development most of last year, just leveling the ground, building streets, irrigation, sewage, lights, signage, etc. Then Lowes started construction in the fall and opened in January, Aldis and ABC Liquor opened in May.

With TV owning Pinellas Plaza across the street, the one with Winn Dixie and Subway, Square 1 Burger, Darrell's Diner. They are not going to make it easier for you to shop across the street at a competitor, you'll have to drive your car. In fact TV ran a split rail fence all the way around Sand Hill Executive Golf Course on the corner in case someone had the idea they could cut through the course in their cart. Doesn't seem to hurt the businesses, Lowes parking lot is usually full as well as Aldis and the liquor store.

Burger King and Wendy's in the same strip mall (same developer) ... that is unusual. Most strip malls "protect " businesses by not allowing 2 of the identical type of business in the same strip. If there were 2 different developers right next to each other that's another story. Publix is sort of surprising since there is one less than 2.5 miles away but that makes more sense than BK and Wendy's. In the end, I'll bet against BOTH B.K. and Wendy's. One or the other, yes.

patfla06 06-10-2018 08:13 PM

Starbucks??? YES!!!! :a040:

Strange things that make you laugh out loud ...

On June 10, I found the picture in post #1 on the Barclay Group website. You can't see it, but is was dated 06-07-2018. Obviously it contains a lot of new - and potentially private - information about tenants, locations and costs.

Today (June 11) I went back to the Barclay website and found that the picture dated 06-07-2018 is not there. A picture dated 04-11-2018 is back. This picture has been shown for a few months and shows only the businesses that are open, under construction and announced.

Apparently, somebody screwed up, big time!

So all I can say is, "Stay tuned for further announcements."

Aloha1 06-11-2018 07:59 PM

Wonder what happened to the supposed Dick's Sporting Goods store?

kcrazorbackfan 06-11-2018 09:28 PM

Going to be on 27/441 in that field that's been cleared close to The Quarters Apartment complex.

Do you know if they're still going through with the plan to remove the overpass on 441? They say that will give them more road frontage for development, but that will make traffic backed up all the way down 441 to Race Trac.

Yes, definitely, based on recent newspaper reports.

Madelaine Amee 06-12-2018 12:48 PM

If everything goes according to plan, this could be THE place to shop in TV. If you have a multitude of stores in one venue, why go elsewhere?

Chatbrat 06-12-2018 01:07 PM

Hoping for a Bonefish, PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory-I know their chains but they're a little upscale

I don't know why at least Bonefish doesn't come south. They are so busy up on 466.

justjim 06-12-2018 01:22 PM

One might ask just how important is golf cart access. Not very - - when you look at the many businesses along 441/27 that Villagers drive their cars. Trailwinds will do well IMHO.

Brenda.ball 06-12-2018 01:50 PM

I'm happy to hear that First Watch will be coming soon. Great place for a good healthier meal.

That is a winner. Really enjoy First Watch near the Hospital.

New Englander 06-12-2018 02:28 PM

I'm hoping for a Panera Bread and Carrabbas.

I hope so, the southern end of The Villages really needs this. It should also help alleviate some of the traffic on Morse and Rio Grande north of 466 that many Villagers from south of 466 use to cut through to 441/27 for shopping.

Funny how TV doesn't allow 2 similar restaurants in the same area, yet they didn't mind putting the obnoxious row of banks front and center in Pinellas Plaza. Perhaps they make way more money off the banks! Just sayin'.

The route you describe is not a cut through, it is a route. As is Chula Vista, another route. Or Micro Racetrack etc.

Tailwind is not part of TV. They have no say in what stores or restaurants go in there. Don't blame the developer.

Not only obnoxious but totally useless. I’ve been banking online for 20 years and will never go back to a brick & mortar with ridiculously low interest rates and long line waits.

I think you might be mistaken: Lucky7 is not talking about Trailwinds. Lucky7 is talking about the fact that TV will not allow two restaurants of the same ilk in the same TV shopping center, but they allow many banks on one strip--actually two, along 466 and along 466A

Along LaPlaza Grande....is Wendy's, Burger King, CFC, Fridays and Perkins. Down by Colony...Bob Evans, McD's as well as that Chicken place. Not sure that what you say is true.

patfla06 06-13-2018 02:37 PM

Would love an Einstein or Brooklyn Bagel.

I will be thrilled if I never have to shop at Colony again.
It has to be the main reason Publix is adding another one 3 miles away in Trailwinds.

We really need more restaurants and stores down here.

I didn't say it. Somebody else said it! I was just replying to Lucky7, who thought that person was talking about Trailwinds.

John_W 06-13-2018 03:00 PM

I know of two situations that TV denied a business a location because of a non-competition clause in their lease. Square 1 Burgers wanted to go in Brownwood, but because of 5 Guys they had to settle for Pinellas Plaza. Also, Jersey Mike's wanted to go into Pinellas Plaza or Traverse Plaza and they were denied because of Subway. When they inquired about 1500 square foot location at Brownwood, they were denied saying they wouldn't lease smaller than 2000 square feet. Now Subway will have to suffer when Jersey Mike's opens at Trailwinds. The JM's at Lady Lake is #1 in the state of Florida and the new location will be owned by the same franchiser.

That is usually true but I think fast food is different.
They all seem to end up in the same row like on 441.

e-flyer 06-14-2018 02:47 PM

I think there is enough people in TV to support a Cheese Cake Factory. Yum Yum!

Don't believe The Cheesecake Factory agrees with you. At least not yet.

Not legally

I would be very surprised if Cheesecake Factory opened here. Currently, they are closing locations. Just announced they are closing in Boulder, CO.
