Golf Cart Observation
Inquiring minds want to know:
Do you drive your cart with your left knee sticking out? If so, why? |
Airflow.

With just my left leg out, texting, smoking my cigar, and chatting to my wife is a lot easier!:icon_wink: |
Guilty. It is not a conscious decision....just happens. I sometimes catch myself and bring the knee in but it is not as comfortable. Heck, it's titanium and can take a licking and keep on ticking....no wait a minute, it's the other one that ticks...and clicks...and makes grinding sounds.
|
No. Because I like my knee and would like to keep it. :)
|
I guess most want to keep their family jewels cool and refreshed. Better yet is those who drag their left foot on the MMP/street. Seen that a number of times.
|
In the required Villages style, i drive with my left foot on the dash, steer with one hand and hold my drink with the other.

Cool the boys off

It is not a choice! It is more comfortable but hopefully doesn't offend anyone or put them at risk.
Has anyone ever been injured hanging out the knee. It's instinctive to pull in the knee if needed, trust me! :1rotfl: |

Has the Whacker ever been Whacked? Is She/He still on the loose? I know it says gentleman but could it be a Woman Whacker?
How would this knee behavior negatively affect anyone else's life/day? Just wondering? |
The Whacker and the Squirters!
The Wild West days in TV. Just before build out at Brownwood! |
No, but toooooooo many old farts do and that is an on-coming view I don't need.
GROSS!!! :ohdear: |
Keeping a knee out, makes it easier for those riding their carts while walking their dogs, to lean down to at least try to partially pick up dog poop...from other folks lawns.
:D |
Because hanging my right knee out makes it hard to work the pedals.
|
The trouble with golf carts there is not enough gut or leg room, something has to give, you can move the leg , you can move your gut, I have seen some carts going down the road with a severe "PORT" list--don't know if Monroe makes load levelers for carts

Sounds NSFW. :) |
As a tall guy with limited leg room in the cart, my left knee usually is swung out. In fact, I often drive barefoot to get the extra inch of legroom without shoes. However, the other day it was so cold out I had both sox and shoes on and kept the left leg in tight. I love the golf carts, but wish they made them with an option for more leg room instead of one size fits all. On the other hand, I have seen several shorter people use a gas pedal extender or put a pillow behind them so they can reach the pedals.

Lots of posters on that thread we haven't heard from in a while. |
My wife calls it "manspreading" ;-). I met two separate carts on the Sumter Bridge a couple of weeks ago and as narrow as the cart lane is, 2 men had their stuck out way too far meeting other carts. The idiots are lucky they didn't get hit...………
|
If we see the knee out, it means their stomach is so large that is the only way to fit, so stomach has room to hang. So your lifestyle is the cause and effect. I am sure their wife loves the look.
|
Not just their wives, but any car/cart that is in close shot--sometimes blinders are necessary really hurts the eyes-an old statement about the Villages, the women are old enough where they can't get pregnant, but the men look pregnant
|
Gravity happens...
|
...just like a high class hotel...more ballroom space.
|
Legs too long and seat too far forward.
|
Add the knee stick-out to signalling for a left turn at dusk/dark using your left arm instead of turn signal.
Love it!! |
free advertising! or, too large to have both in the cart

Gentlemen, if you’re going to wear baggy shorts please, please learn to sit as if you are wearing a kilt. The view of those old “guys” really is repulsive and very rude to share in public. |

YES, I drive my cart with my left knee hanging out. Unlike many on this thread, I am 6 foot 8 and cramming into a golf cart is hard enough. I'm not hurting anyone and I'm conscience enough to be aware in tight situations. So, my best thought is...Live and let live.
|
This is an amputation waiting to happen. I am shocked when I see this. The space between cars/trucks and golf carts is just inches. I used to work in Emergency Rooms so...
|
I'm aware of that plus men seem to sit with their legs wide open. 😳😅
|
What I've noticed is people who are too obese to fit behind the steering wheel sitting in the passenger seat and operating the pedals with their left foot.

While this subject has been brought up numerous times, I personally don't ever recall reading (or even hearing through the very dubious 'rumor mill') about someone who had their knee/leg injured...from having it sticking out. Adding a lot of credence to your comment of..."Live and let live." :ho: |
