Face masks

I seen in the recreation news today that all indoor and outdoor activities are required to wear face masks. I wonder how the golfers are going to handle that?

ficoguy 04-30-2020 08:38 AM

No need to as long as you walk or ride in separate carts. Its been that way. No one can trace spreading CV to golfing. The most concentrated outbreaks have been is nursing homes, assisted living and prisons. None of thos have golf that I know of.

xcaligirl 04-30-2020 08:58 AM

The recreation news does state ALL indoor and outdoor sports are to wear masks

pam.moores 04-30-2020 10:16 AM

Not even just sports, but all outdoor activities. So does that include golf cart rides?

Unless T.V. has redefined the definition of "ALL" (or made an error in the rules). Maybe IN THE CART WHILE RIDING "NO" but UPON EXIT "YES" ???? :

There not looking. No one can’t either.

Gerald 04-30-2020 01:54 PM

There are people who can not wear a mask, due to breathing problems. Server asthma, does not work for a person wearing a mask . It restricts their breathing too much. I know several people who fall into that problem.

They are only special if they can give the ball Topspin and make it stop right on the green. Some use clubs and some use rackets. Each need to respect the other's skill.

In Golf you never touch another players balls. So you can't catch stuff from them.

Curtsy and leave.

guess we'll have to start putting the masks on when we bring the trash out to the curb for Monday and Thursday pick ups

billethkid 04-30-2020 02:09 PM

One could allow the "paper" did not get it correct.....

it is most certainly fallible.

when all else fails use that rare quality we all possess, common sense (in obvious varying degrees)!!!

You bet they are special. Getting all that fresh air and sunshine makes for happy, healthier people!

Jack58033 04-30-2020 02:26 PM

Curtsy and leave. Is that line from George and Gracie?

Pretty sure that "all outdoor activities" refers only to those under the purview of Parks and Recs. The only thing that they control that I use is the fitness center and that will not reopen under Phase II.

Good luck on TOPSPIN making it stop. BACKSPIN works so, so much better.

Don’t think that’s going to apply obviously to golf or when you’re at a swimming pool. That would make no sense whatsoever.

Twiganne 05-01-2020 05:59 AM

That is what I was try to say about the mask. I can’t breathe under the blasted thing.

Come on people why so mean ? With this logic then tell my how are you going to swim laps with a mask on

Marathon Man 05-01-2020 06:06 AM

All right. Let's put a little thought into this. This statement about "all outdoor activities" came from the Recreation and Parks Department in reference to the re-opening of the Recreation and Parks facilities. They can only control what is under their control.

rickdankert 05-01-2020 06:22 AM

You obviously don’t golf.

merrymini 05-01-2020 06:23 AM

How many people playing pickleball got the virus that way?

Guess they should stay home.

Have the scientists confirmed
“No one can trace spreading CV to golfing”?

Skunky1 05-01-2020 06:50 AM

Wow thanks for the reminder I got to take my trash out

What happens if you spray someone?

PugMom 05-01-2020 07:04 AM

who are the mask police, and will they be on the job>? :1rotfl::1rotfl:

PugMom 05-01-2020 07:06 AM

yeah, just the other day there was a story about someone in jersey who passed out behind the wheel while driving with their mask on, so i can believe you

pam.moores 05-01-2020 07:08 AM

I do golf, I also play Pickleball and can’t imagine playing either sport with a mask.

arbajeda 05-01-2020 07:08 AM

Play tennis, pickleball or any other court sport with a mask? Just wearing one makes breathing more difficult. Imagine when you're playing and the mask becomes saturated with moisture from your breath and sweat. Then you take it off between games (keeping six feet, of course). Better have others, you wouldn't want to put the contaminated one back on again.

boobear51751 05-01-2020 07:10 AM

They won't even if it is mandated because they have rights.

Cheese 05-01-2020 07:35 AM

Love it!

jonathanb 05-01-2020 07:38 AM

How can you wear a mask playing Pickleball? People with breathing problems will not be able to breath right. The physical exertion might not allow it.

I’m astonished at the huge number of people who still think the masks are to protect themselves. NO! They are to prevent you from spraying your germs all over the place when you talk or suddenly cough or sneeze.

I quit playing golf when I was at Escambia and I had to weave through a closely packed crowd of about a dozen people. When I asked if they had not heard of social distancing, they made fun of me for wearing a mask to protect THEM from me.

And, yes, I wear my bandana when riding in my cart.

wamley 05-01-2020 07:41 AM

Unless their cohabitants.

DeanFL 05-01-2020 07:42 AM

...hmmm, perhaps I WILL wear a mask when playing golf.

It may muffle my swearing.

Poole 05-01-2020 07:48 AM

You only have to have them when on recreation center property not private property so read it all before you post something stupid

Bandanas are not as bad as the N95 masks and those that can’t do even that will just have to stay away. BTW, I’m asthmatic and in the high-risk group so I wouldn’t play anyway if masks weren’t required.
