Masks
I went to get my mail today and NO ONE was wearing a mask.

The CDC guidance that states you should wear a mask IF unable to socially distance yourself 6 feet has not changed |
I have no trouble maintaining a social distance of 6 feet when getting my mail....if you do, then you should wear a mask.

Ya know if don’t go during the OMG the mail is here time slot, then it’s pretty much empty. If ours is picked up once a week we are doing good. Mask doesn’t protect you.

Most of us want to get back to living and we’ll take our chances just like we have done with any other virus. That 5% that have severe underlying conditions obviously may choose to continue avoiding people? |
The mask police.
Mask are recommended not required. |
The death rate in Lake, Marion and Sumter counties from the virus is 32 out of a population of 854.944. This is a death rate of 3.74 out of 100,000. That's TO DATE....the daily rate of deaths for the same 3 counties is 12 per 100,000 with 8.2 per 100,000 coming from accidents - auto, falling off your rocker, etc. And I think people are starting to think the government has overplayed its hand a bit - especially when you see the guv of NY sending back the Navy ship Comfort that sat there with 1,000 beds and only used 20....or the field hospital in the Javits center that was outfitted for 1,000 beds and only used 90...and the taxpayers of the nation are taking in that spending load, because NY is soooooooo important

Masks
People don't realize masks protect other people. They don't really care if you die.
|
"teacher, teacher...Johnny's not wearing his mask!" Stop with this childish nonsense already We shouldn't be expected to wear masks 24x7
as someone else has already added to this post, if you avoid picking up your mail between 2:30 and 5pm you pretty much have the place all to yourself....and (huge plus) you aren't putting yourself in danger of being run over or backed into it's really pretty easy to 'dodge' 2 or 3 people and respect the 6' social distancing objective at the mail boxes |
I wear my old Lone Ranger mask. Had it for 68 years in my drawer. People move 10', 15' or sometimes 20' away from me when they see me coming.

Six feet is easy to maintain especially with my dog. The leash is six feet and that is the rule in TV.
|
The mask is primarily to remind you not to touch your face and to protect others from you sneezing. If you are outside getting the mail the likelihood of someone sneezing on you is quite minimal.
Are you aware that we have a population of about 130,000 and very few cases? Are you aware of how well we are doing here in TV? |
Glad you feel safe wearing your mask. If you are so worried about what everyone else is doing it might be better to stay away from people.

I approve these stolen thoughts:
1. I don't wear a facemask because...It's the perfect breeding ground for bacteria that can end up in your mouth and down into your lungs (hello upper respiratory infection anyone!?) 2. I don't wear gloves because... I have enough brains to realize I'd have to change gloves everytime I touched something else, otherwise it's just cross contamination with the same gloves... 3. I do social distancing because...I respect others personal space, but not because I'm afraid of my fellow Americans or neighbors. In fact, I'll happily hug someone right now in public if it was a mutual feeling. Hugging also releases endorphins which uplifts mood and relieves stress...there's a bunch of stress going on right now. 4. I don't get the flu vaccine because...(in regards to coronavirus) I don't want to increase my chances of getting an upper respiratory illness including 4 strains of coronavirus by 36%. 5. I won't get tested even if I show symptoms because...I already know they will label it Covid19 without an actual test and I'll be added to the jaded numbers increasing panic over something I may or may not truly have...plus they'll just tell me to go home and walk it off...but rest assured I have brains enough to stay home and away from people when sick or have symptoms of being sick. 6. I wash my hands with soap and water because...well, that's just common sense. 7. I WILL NOT GET THE COVID19 VACCINE! The gov has never mandated a vaccine and I'll be damned if they make me put something in my body, that was created in less than 2 weeks of this "outbreak". I'm not a sheep and will not be manipulated by the gov into thinking they have our best interest. 8. I will not live in fear. If you want to stay in your house and never go out because you are "doing the right thing" that's fine, that's you. But I'm not going to let the media scare me into mass panic. That's what they want, to shut this country down and they’re doing it right in front of your face. I will continue to go out and support locals as much as possible. I will not live in fear! Start researching...you have all the time in the world. Turn off the news and start researching from sources that have NO financial gain or conflict of interest...you will learn quite a bit, and you will realize you've been lied to and manipulated. *copied and pasted, feel free to do the same!* |

I went to Aldi’s yesterday and not one person in there was wearing a N95 mask including the employees. Unless you are wearing a properly fitted N95 mask or better you are doing yourself and others little good if any. It’s time to get back to living our lives.
|
Quick, call the cops, someone just walked by my mailbox not wearing a mask. Get a life people!

It is not about you.

Experts say the homemade masks won’t protect someone from getting sick, but they can help prevent the spread of the disease by those with the virus.“ The mask is to reduce the spread of the virus from you, even if you have it but have no symptoms. You wear a mask in consideration of others. It shows that you care about the safety of others. |

Regarding the "quick interaction"....The experts have said you need to have sustained close interaction to contract the virus or have someone cough or sneeze directly in your face. If you want to think of my "close interaction" statement as a "5 second rule", you are correct. |
I agree it’s still with us but as long as you try to stay 6 feet away from someone I heard you don’t have to wear a mask outside.

Only wear masks if you want to live in fear. The Spanish Flu died off in just over a year because the entire country was exposed to it and you either died or developed immunity. We need to do that here we can't drag this out for years and years living in fear. Yes 2.3 million will die but that's only .00655 of our population. And one good thing about the Chinese coronavirus it mainly kills the sick and the old where the Spanish flu killed people of all ages.

I saw a group of five standing about 2 feet from each other talkin and talkin all wearing masks if you can't maintain six feet at the post office then wear your mask. You shouldn't even be standing less than 6 feet away when you are wearing a mask.
|
I do not see why you would have to wear a mask outdoors where you are usually pretty far away from others. I have seen people wearing masks under their chin, under their nose, totally ineffective and the cloth masks are pretty much useless since viruses are so small they can enter through the holes of a cotton mask easily. So, if you believe that you can eliminate 100 per cent of the risk, you are fooling yourself.

I wonder if people simply dont know where to get them. Please contact me at janet1769@gmail.com if you need them. I have made hundreds for very happy customers. Mine are comfortable, colorful and machine washable. They are a nominal cost of $3.00 each.
STAY WEL! |
We should be working a plan to collect all the unused mask and making a memorial sculpture to honor all the medical personnel who put their life’s on the line for us.
