Some just don’t get it

Was at Walgreen’s today and an older woman was checking customers out in Cosmetics.
All customers were wearing masks and keeping 6 feet apart.

I see the employee take her mask down, LICK her fingers to open the bag and bag the customer’s goods.

Minimum wage

Sometimes things are done out of habit, don’t let it bother you too badly.

davem4616 09-15-2020 05:56 PM

old habits are hard to break...I struggle trying to open those darn plastic bags in the produce section at Publix

Pay has nothing to do with it.

Walked past Codys at LSL this evening and see a waitress serving customers with mask covering chin and not mouth and nose. I am not a believer in wearing a mask while riding in your car, golf cart , bike, or simply walking where you can maintain distance. However, where masks are required, wear them properly.

Those plastic bags are a pain to open and understand what one must do to open the darn things. Got to be a better way

You have to know the secret method. If I told you I'd have to kill you. :1rotfl:
Produce Bags At Grocery Stores & Covid-19 - How Do You Open Them?

Two Bills 09-16-2020 04:31 AM

Just rub top of bag between thumb palms.
Easy peasy!

Whether she licked her fingers or not she was going to touch what was put in the bag. You can’t hide from a virus. When are people going to get that? Sooner or later we’re all going to come in contact with this. Just like the flu or the common cold. You’ll either get it or you won’t. Take the masks off. Stop being paranoid. Start living life again. And if you’re too afraid to do that then stay home!

Licking fingers! Yuck even before Covid world.. wonder if they wash their hands after the restroom break?

Enough with the mask police...like this dead horse hasn’t been beaten and beaten....

Vonjor@gmail.com 09-16-2020 05:19 AM

Bring a disinfectant wipe into the store with you. Use it to moisten your fingers. Makes opening the plastic bags a breeze

Larryandlinda 09-16-2020 05:28 AM

Too many don’t get it!

The better way is to get away from plastic: it’s ugly and killing all life forms including humans.
Do you really need that many bags?
It’s thoughtless and lazy not to opt out when.
While we commend Florida for being pioneers and one of the few states to enact regulations, it’s nowhere near enough.

:ohdear:

Did you say something to the employee? I would have pointed out what she did was not a safe practice. I would have also let the employee know that rubbing the plastic bag together with both hands will release the plastic and made it very easy to open it. I do that all the time in the grocery store with those darn plastic produce bags. Works every time.

I would imagine awareness has something to do with the pay grade so agree with you.

I have and will do again, ask a server to raise up her mask when serving hubby and myself.

Fabulous video. Thank you. I find that friction between my fingers or hands works just as well.

I don't think you get the point the original poster made. The employee LICKED HER FINGERS to open the bag. The employee put saliva on her fingers then proceeded to touch the customer's purchases and the bag she was placing the purchases in to.

That would skeeve me out during normal times.

You can not be serious with this statement. Stay away from me if you think this behavior is OK with you.

Lindsyburnsy 09-16-2020 05:53 AM

Ugh, even without the coronavirus-19 looming.

Mardarlowe 09-16-2020 05:55 AM

Another comical mask post. Just stay home where you're all snug and secure and let the rest of us go on with normal life.

This discussion NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MASK. It has everything to do with proper hygiene. We are supposed to wash our hands frequently, especially those who deal with the public. What about licking the fingers don't you understand that is a breach of personal hygiene and safety to the people this employee was serving?

Amen to that. I refuse to live my life in fear. I wear the stupid thing when in public out of courtesy to others, but relish the day that this paranoia is behind us. I traveled internationally alot in my career. The first thing I did when I got on an airplane was wipe down the armrests and serving tray with an antiseptic wipe. I do the same at a grocery store on a cart and then use the wipe to clean my own phone and keys. Germs and viruses are everywhere. Just use some common sense and put the koolaide drinking behind us.

Again.......the OP comments have nothing to do with the mask itself.

allsport 09-16-2020 06:21 AM

If you see something, say something.

allsport 09-16-2020 06:23 AM

That worked before the pandemic but now I put the plastic bags in clean cloth bags in the back of my car so nothing touches my counters except my clean cloth bags. It is similar to sterile technique. Maybe when this is over I will return to the old way, but not before.

Just rub the plastic bag in your hands and it will open.

As a retired critical care & ER nurse, I am constantly educating people and most are quite gracious with my help.

Sugar952 09-16-2020 06:47 AM

There are some produce that are slightly wet , touch those then open a few bags , problem solved

Mask problems

I thought you were going to say it was someone who absolutely refused to wear a mask. Sounds like she just needs a friendly or not so friendly reminder.

If I get, I get it. But what I don’t want to do is to get it from someone who could avoid giving it to me by simply wearing a mask.

baramu 09-16-2020 07:17 AM

Horrible post. That’s why almost 200,000 Americans are dead. Me, myself and I.

Art cov 09-16-2020 07:25 AM

I have been in many countries and seen and lived in places that when I got back to AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL, was tempted to kiss the ground! We all whine and complain at times, but life is just too short, enjoy n be happy! Finding fault with every little thing, just makes life miserable for you! We live in much better conditions than most of the world. Some places are just plain gross. It’s good here! Be friendly!!!

Agree. The deception is continuing.
