Found something I hate here in the Villages
I love driving in my golf cart but these donkeys that need to go 25, 30 or 35 mph passing people causing issues for other following the rules. What is the rush unless they are in a hurry to die. We like to enjoy ourselves and do go 20-21but I don’t understand the rush. The one that had to pass me tonight proceeded to then turn 20 feet down the road.

We Senior Citizens can do whatever we want. Get used to it.

So how do you deal on the interstate when they're going 80-90 mph??? Some folks aren't necessarily in a hurry, but instead don't wish to waste time in a golf cart on a path.

If you don't like the way I drive, then get off the sidewalk.

I'd love to see the cops show up some day and radar these unregistered motor vehicles (carts that can exceed 20mph). They would certainly rake in some dough handing out $250 tickets, and the courts will add to it to the tune of around $500. My cart cannot go faster than the legal speed limit of 20mph, but I get passed all the time by some Yamaha that will do 23mph. There is a reason for the 20mph limit - the brakes, suspension etc of a golf cart is not designed to be safe at speeds faster than this.

A lot of this happens during the high season. Deeeeeeeeeeep breaths. |
I actually paced a golf cart going south along Buena Vista, I noticed my speed was 40MPH and the golf cart was keeping up with me!!!!

I did have a Yamaha pass me unlike any I've ever seen on O'Dell while I was en route to Havana about 3 months ago. His wheels stuck out beyond the body about 3" and he was going about 35 mph. He was in the cart lane and the car lane both. When he passed I looked for a tag and he had no tag. Even a street legal is not allowed to go that fast. His engine was very loud, he went by so quick I couldn't get a good look at the cart or the driver. |
Well, maybe there was an emergency or he had to go to the bathroom or he remembered he left the heat on on the stove. Maybe consider there was a reason.

They are trying to get it all done before they run out of money ! That's why some don't wear masks , they are broke
|
He's using Zip Ties and oxygen

I find it’s a much more enjoyable ride if I slow down when they pull out so they can pass faster or pull off to the side and let them pass. Just because I’m in no hurry doesn’t mean others aren’t late for appointments.
|
Not sure which is more dangerous, people driving well above 20 mph, or those that crawl along very slowly causing people to get frustrated and pass in sometimes unsafe situations. Why can’t everyone just set their carts to max out at 20 mph and drive at that speed?
|
Whatever a cart has under the right foot, it will be used.
Whatever you can get out of your cart, someone will always get 1 mph. more. Never worry about being overtaken, just avoid the undertaker!:icon_wink: |
Power to the senior speeders.

If you had prostate issues you’d understand the urgency. Which explains all the broken gate arms.
|
There will always be the rule breakers that aggravate and agitate. They have the same disregard for you on the road as they do in the stores and as they do in the neighborhoods.

I personally have no idea how fast my cart goes. I didn't even know some carts came with speedometers! I'll try to get a buddy in a car to drive beside me one day to figure it out.
|
Try not to take it personal and get frustrated. Let them pass and enjoy the day. Don’t allow them to ruin your time here. Namaste grasshopper

Goodness, we are all adults; conduct yourself accourdingly. And, for the love of God; be nice to others!

Move over. You’re blocking the lane.

Another great post that will only fall on deaf ears
|
Get the app on your phone that tells you how fast you are going. Mine is called digiHUD. Very accurate. It’s free

New carts sold in TV are set at 22, they use to set them at 16 golf course speed.

There are times when I want to pass someone but can't because my cart is limited to 20 mph. The driver in front of me is slowing down a few mph every few seconds to look around or doesn't keep the pedal pegged. If I have a long stretch of path to safely pass I don't bother because the other driver may decide to peg his cart while I'm passing and I won't be able to complete the pass. I've only had this happen once and that was enough to just sit behind everyone after that. I'm not in a hurry but it's nice to just put the pedal to the floor and think about other things. Changing the rear differential gears would give me the speed I need to pass someone safety if the desire arises again. The downside is not being able to just put the pedal on the floor and just go with the flow at 20.
Does anyone know a guy that can swap out the gears in a 2020 Yamaha? Or the cost of doing it? Asking for a friend. |

Absolutely my favorite way to travel, number 2 of two reasons I moved here. I am happy with my little lot in life.

If the police catch you going over 20 miles an hour in your golf cart, it is a felony in Florida.
