Comcast

Finely had it with Comlast! Dumping them, I don’t care if I have listen to radio the rest of my time here. Going to try dish network. They have better line up and 1/2 price for what I want. Comcast January rate hikes was last straw for me.

Sorry to hear that. I have had Comcast for years and would never think of changing. They always seem to accommodate me when I have issues.

Viperguy 02-10-2021 09:09 PM

You'll say the same thing about Dish when they hit you with rate hikes after the "introductory rates". And streaming is the solution? Just wait until they start charging for data usage.

I dumped Comcast in 2008 and went with Directv, and still have them 12 years later. If I were starting over, I would stream and use either youtube TV, Hula TV or Fubo TV. Dish I wouldn't use, missing too many channels.

Still have to have internet service to stream? I only watch about 15 maybe 15 channels. Don’t care about football, baseball, or basketball, and 3/4 of Comcast channels that repeated 3 times with HD BS. Plus can’t list channels in number order with HD BS. Comcast also drops channels with plan you started with. I had dish for 10 years before moved here. See how it goes? At least I will be paying 1/3 less for two years. Plus two years long time, something better might come long? With same channels I have plus couple more old ones I use to watch like RFtv. Dish in battle with ABC right now. The only thing I would miss on ABC is jeopardy, damn sure won’t miss national one sided news.

That will be two years down the road? After that I may not need service here?

Velvet 02-10-2021 11:41 PM

We have a Roku stick, youtube tv, Netflix, Amazon because we pay for prime delivery, and for MotoGP and Formula1 we get the channel for their season. If anyone increases their fees too much we substitute. So far not too bad.

Exactly. They're all the same. All of their customer service is terrible

Comcast has the best picture, convenience etc.

My son streams with youtube TV. He loved it until his rate doubled without notice. They are all the same.

banjobob 02-11-2021 05:44 AM

Dish and Direct are both satellite , and as such you lose the signal in heavy storms even when you switch SD not HD , streaming is by far a better option if your tv is not a smart tv add roku or fire stick to stream. Not difficult to install with common sense.

And youll regret it when there is a slight wind or rain and the service goes out. ENJOY

Anybody sign up with Starlink?

jswirs 02-11-2021 06:16 AM

Same here. We went with an antenna, fire TV, and century link for internet.

Wait until it rains and you lose reception with Dish and DirecTV

Anyone having issues with there Comcast Internet service?? My internet service blinks the screen goes blank for 1 sec then comes back on?? My service is slow and does not respond quickly. At home in NY I have a 7 year old HP desk top and it is lightening fast with no interruptions. Here in TV using Comcast I have a brand new HP laptop.

Streaming is the way to go. I have a service that has thousand of channels for less than 20 dollars a month. Everyone that has it loves it. Interested email me tvalternatives99@yahoo.com.

Craftylady 02-11-2021 06:37 AM

We just switched from spectrum to dish. We like the service but we had to keep spectrum for internet. Our installer was great and even hooked up a WiFi mesh so our internet is amazing

thevillagernie 02-11-2021 06:37 AM

someone once told me ...everybody hates there cable company...no matter who you have !!!!

Dtharp02 02-11-2021 06:38 AM

Forget all the cable and satellite TV providers and start streaming. Easy, a lot less expensive, and more channels. Cable and satellite TV are walking dinosaurs

I love my YoutubeTV streaming. $65 / month and it has every single channel I ever watched on cable, plus local stations, plus DVR, plus no contract. And, there's shear joy in calling the cable service and cancelling.

Jgabriele 02-11-2021 06:40 AM

We cut the cord and streaming with HULU. Huge savings and great customer service.

stewiegal 02-11-2021 06:53 AM

Cut the cord and stream. No frustrations. Low cost even if you pay for channels like Netflix, etc.

jonathanb 02-11-2021 06:58 AM

Get an internet provider of your choice and buy an Amazon fire stick and stream what you want. It works awesome

Had the same concern last year with Comcast and switched to Dish. The wife hated it. I thought it was OK, especially for taping lots of shows, but we still needed high speed internet. Tried DSL and it was terribly slow. Paid Comcast for just internet and when combined with the Dish, the cost was nearly the same total. Went back to all Comcast with a cheaper 2-year promotional contract. The wife is happy, happy! Happy wife, happy life.

cathiehines 02-11-2021 07:21 AM

We ditched Comcast last month. Got internet with CenturyLink for 49.99 locked in for life. Went with Max23TV. No buffering. Over 1000 channels, including our hometown channel and all of the sports channels. Love it. No contracts.

Pedrocarrasco01@yahoo.com 02-11-2021 07:32 AM

Had Dish, Direct TV, etc

We had Direct TV, Dish Network, Comcast Xfinity, no comparison every time it rains either here or where the signal is being transmitted from, you will lose picture or cause extreme pixelization in your screen. The key to dealing with Comcast it to NEGOTIATE with them, the January increase were taxes and government charges. Negotiate with them starting 3 months before your contract is over. They are the best in programming and picture quality plus internet, want to save big money, use Xfinity cellular, we had Verizon and were paying over $100 per month for 2 lines, last month with Xfinity it was $14.99 for 2 lines.

Villages Kahuna 02-11-2021 07:32 AM

Reached the same level of aggravation that you have. Switched to DirecTV and wondered why I hadn’t done it sooner.

Don’t get bamboozled by choosing DISH to save a couple bucks a month. Their content is much less than DirecTV and their tech support and service is impossible. My neighbor did that, switched a second time to DirecTV and discovered he had to get rid of the DISH dish at his own expense.

airdale2 02-11-2021 07:34 AM

If wife not happy, aint nobody gonna be happy.

JimmyDebbie 02-11-2021 07:36 AM

We have been using AT&T streaming for several years and very happy to have cut the cable cord. All of the streaming services have packages to select from. The one we have includes enough sports channels that we like to have. We also have a smart tv and that allows us access to other means of streaming (such as Roku TV and our subscriptions to Amazon Prime and Disney Plus). We have been very pleased and have not had any major problems.

I manage around 100 Rentals and Snowbirds here and the problem with the Dish/Direct/Spectrums is they have very few employees in the field they use Sub Companies and the service is awful. I got fed up with the Comcast Bills continuing to rise and found a Streaming service and actually get more channels and Movies and the cost even with upgrading my Internet speeds dramatically is less than 1/2 what I paid for my Comcast Bundle.

Illegal IPTV service, which is pretty obvious when you get almost every channel for $20/month. You better be using a VPN so you don't get in trouble.

JudyB 02-11-2021 07:58 AM

I have Dish and have had for years. They have really good customer service. Rate is about the same as when I started. It is very rare that we lose service due to a storm, and then we just watch something that we have recorded on the DVR. ABC is back and when they were in negotiations, they gave us credit on our bill. I’m happy with their service.

Yes, don't go to the Max23TV website. Parts of their site tries to download malware.

I agree with others that streaming is the way to go. There are so many more options, and you can pick and choose month to month which ones you want to pay for.

Someone else mentioned Starlink internet, which will be a game-changer once the full network is deployed. There will no longer be lock-in to only the companies that can run a cable to your home. There are at least 2 other companies working on low orbit satellite internet. Competition in broadband is finally coming!

If you have at least internet service, you can stream all local Orlando channels via locast dot orgfor $5.50/month. If you need even more channels, you can add streaming with Philo dot com for $20/month more plus taxes.

We've been trying to get CenturyLink installed since last week. First they said Monday, no one showed and when I called they said there was a 'glitch' in their system and someone would be out Tuesday. Finally got a call late Tuesday saying it would be Thursday. Their window is 8-5 for installs. Checked online and the system says we don't have anything scheduled. If they don't show we will just stick with Spectrum. Over $100/month less than xFinity but no DVR or pause.

I dropped Comcast a couple of years ago, one of the best days ever.
I went to youtubetv and I like 'em pretty well.
