Doubt it. Too much history of it in Great Britain. And love of the Monarchy. And a great deal of money is involved. Inside ‘The Firm’: How The Royal Family’s $28 Billion Money Machine Really Works

She is to be stuffed and preserved upon he demise, but still carry on ruling. Only a few will notice the change!

British Empire, Colonialism, and all that stuff?
Mustn't even be mentioned these days!

While "The Crown" is supposed to be mostly fiction in regards to what is actually said and done by the Royals behind the palace walls, it looks like it's a lot more accurate than some people thought. Good for Harry and Meghan, on pulling back the curtain on all of the entitlements felt - solely by having the luck of being born with a certain lineage.

Given a choice, I choose Her Majesty. I like Harry, but in my humble assessment, Meghan is milking something entirely unprovable and gaining about 18 million from contracts with Netflix etc. Harry is in between a rock and a hard place.

Nobody I admire would go on National Television and talk about the inlaws unless they were Ax Murderers.

manaboutown 03-15-2021 12:51 PM

Harry and Megan are horrible people. Megan is an opportunistic dirtbag. Harry has been nothing more than a total party animal. To this day I wonder if Charles is actually Harry's genetic father.

On the other hand I greatly respect the Queen who has always conducted herself with courage and dedication. Queen Elizabeth projects a truly royal presence.

Do not forget Harry served two tours in Afghanistan, voluntarily. He indeed put himself at risk. I have great respect for that.

Have you seen pics of the red-headed guy Diana had a long-term affair with? Spittin' image ...

I love that little queen. LOVE LOVE LOVE her outfits (matching dress/coat/hat).

kathy

Velvet 03-15-2021 01:18 PM

The royal family can be very difficult to be with if you are not born into the practices and expectations. Lady Diana illustrated how difficult it can be. It must be very hard to live up to it. What is surprising to me is how well Kate Middleton manages somehow.
Kings and Queens used to rule by divine right, straight from God Himself, not any more but that is history. The Queen is the head of the Church. And it is the queen’s picture on the coins. The anthem is: “God save the Queen”. If you want to dis that, how far are you going to get?

Royal Family motto.
Never explain. Never complain!

I watched the interview because I'm an excellent husband. It interested my wife greatly.

In all honesty. I couldn't give a Fig Newton about any of them except the Queen, she's cool and Archie is also. Poor kid was born into a life of DRAMA. Oooh!

I am thinking many things about the Young Married Couple that I don't think I'll put in writing.

It's interesting to watch Meghan and Harry being proved correct about a lot of things.

:ohdear: Was that a Freudian Slip or spelling error? Or maybe a crude attempt at humor.

OrangeBlossomBaby 03-15-2021 08:54 PM

The Royal Family has an "image" to maintain. Meghan doesn't fit that image. She's not from royalty or British nobility (Kate Middleton is a member of British aristocracy, that's why she fares so well with the Royals), she's of unimpressive American commoner stock. Meghan should have known from the get-go that this was going to a be a nightmare for her, and Harry absolutely knew.

It is horrible that they're being vilified in this. The Royals can handle a scandal, the British royals have a long, long history of scandal dating back to William the Conqueror. But as is often the case, the Royals are a lot more adept and equipped to bring shame to their "lesser relations" while keeping their chins - and noses - high up in the air.

While I love the fact that the UK has had the same head of church since the 1920's, the british Royalty exists primarily for show, at the taxpayers' expense.

Does not matter what your percieved status is in life, you do not denigrate family or country to all and sundry, especially on a cheap chat show for finanaial gain.
No class or honor shown by any of the participants.
Please keep the pair of them in the USA, where they can champion the 'Woke and Me First' society to their hearts content.

'Family and country first, right or wrong!'

PS. As for Kate Middleton being a member of 'British aristocracy,' her father came from a wealthy family of solicitors (lawyers) and her mothers father was a builder, and if that makes them aristocrats, I'm the Duke of Tottenham!

With their entitlements go immense responsibilities and plenty of dysfunction. It’s a gilded prison, or almost a gilded chain gang. Meghan’s problem is that she assumed marrying a prince would mean people would obey her, whatever her whim, and lick her clean. Sort of like being on the set with “Suits.” I think the British public was hoping for a genuinely nice person to love. “What? I have DUTIES?”

jbrown132 03-16-2021 07:23 AM

I have a real hard time feeling sad for Harry and Meghan. They had a storybook life and now live in a $12M home and I doubt they will ever have to worry about where their next meal will come from. I think the real problem was that she wanted the same status as William and Kate and that was just not going to happen as Harry is so far down the line in secession they were nothing more than just members of the royal family with no real standing. They would have had their very nice castle and lived a quite rich life, but I guess this was not enough. I have said since day one that Meghan will eventually dump Harry. I only hope the family will take him back. This better happen while grandma is still alive because his father is royally ticked at him.

I agree. Something about airing dirty laundry comes to mind.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex - Wikipedia

I will have to watch and see what happens. I have never been much of a Royal follower and never got into Suits.

Wish these two happiness though. Must be hard living up to the expectations of so many while they sound like they are just trying to have a normal celebrity life.

They both seem like very nice people though. Meghan and Harry I mean. Down-to-earth and not at all like some Royals.

Totally agree. Meghan is a selfish, self-serving, egotistical opportunist. That wedding was an example of non-racism by the royals. They were so ready to accept that brat & her family into the royal circles. Who was it that escorted the mother on his arm into the church? Did not everyone see the Black choir and the Black preacher who droned on and on. It’s was actually to the point of embarrassment. Oh...and that Oprah interview, what a sham with the well rehearsed questions & answers. Then the fake shock when told about the question of the baby’s skin color. Don’t tell me that hundreds of thousands of people didn’t wonder the same thing. What an insult to class & decorum that Meghan is.
