Avoid Using Trugreen

I stopped using Trugreen a couple months ago for the following...
1) Their customer service is awful. (was good a couple years ago)
2) Lawn care went downhill.
Today, I got a call from a woman named Ashley. She told me that they had some kind of special going on. I told her I switched lawn care providers and she promptly hung up. I called her back at 727-401-6041 and when she answered, I told her I did not appreciate her hanging up on me. She them promptly hung up on me again. I then called a Trugreen # and after waiting 3 minutes, the message I heard was that there would be a 3 hour wait.
If you are looking for a lawn care company, I would avoid Trugreen. My lawn guy recommended Green Smiths Pest Control, so I switched to them and hope for better results & service.

So you got a call and you told her you switched services and she hung up then you called her back to tell her you didn’t like that she hung up on you then she did it again , then you called another number and waited 3 minutes to talk to a company that your no longer with , I’m trying to figure out WHY

Got to agree with you on this one for sure.

I can understand changing lawn care companies but why did you feel a need to get her to apologize for hanging up?

Because failing to address rudeness only promotes it.

charlieo1126@gmail.com 05-04-2021 10:21 AM

I choose to limit my battles in everyday life to very important things it makes life much easier and wasting time on the phone with some low paying person who is dealing with people who have all called in a state of frustration about something that’s not her fault is very low on my list of problems , it’s a cliche but still rings true Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

RouseysMom 05-05-2021 05:18 AM

It’s my experience TruGreen is a sales organization with some lawn guys. YEARS after I cancelled my service up north they kept calling me regularly to come back. The mail is easy to throw away but the calls kept coming. I’d be happy this particular salesperson ended the sales script with a hang up, but wait for the next call. And the next. And the next. After I told several reps I would not be returning to TruGreen ever.

As a previous business owner, retired now, I always wanted to be alerted if any of my employees were rude of unprofessional in any way. Maybe the lack of concern by business owners is a big cause of todays problems.

Ditto.

I thought Trugreen's sales were deceptive and their lawn care results sucked. I switched to Green Smiths and have a much better looking lawn.

TruGreen

Why attempt to ruin the business just because some 3rd party telemarketer hung up on you. Sounds like you're just some old bitter person trying to get revenge. I've been using TruGreen for years and am happy with their service and my lawn

Exactly! Lets see.....you no longer want to do business with them. You told them that. They hung up on you and you call back? You expected an apology? Or most likely you called back to argue with a person who no longer cares whether your lawn lives or dies? Pick your battles and move on. That return call was a wasted time.

I had TruGreen for nine months of a one year contract. Twice, the tech came and put an invoice in my door without doing ANYTHING. I let them come back the first time, but fired them after the second. In the nine months I had them, the lawn did not get any better. I do it myself now with Milorganite and Scott’s Weed & Feed. Looks great now, with no more bare spots and fewer weeds.

Thanks for the comments

The reason I called her back and then made an additional call was to inform someone else with Trugreen that they have a rude employee working for them. If I was in management with them and heard about that customer service, she would be let go and not have the opportunity to be rude to someone else. Enjoy your day.

I am in no way a bitter person. Just wanted to report on bad customer service. Glad you’re getting good service.

J1ceasar 05-05-2021 08:40 AM

Next time tell them what's your name? Then take me off your list or I'll file a small claims court action ($1,000) .

Personally I prefer doing my own lawn care. Just don’t think lawn services are as good as they claim. I do understand most of TV people either are getting to old to do it themselves or they have more money than they know what to do with. To me it’s good exercise!

BumpaOompa 05-05-2021 10:58 AM

When it comes to lawn service DIY is the best action if you are willing and able. I have never had a lawn service that didn’t directly correlate to increased weeds. Keeps them in business.

riley2011 05-05-2021 11:45 AM

Report them to the Better Business Bureau for harassment and block their phone number.

You sound like the guy with the flash light who walked his dog at the postal station and found some guy went himself before your dog could.

You just can't make this stuff up...

GreenSmith

I used GreenSmith for a year. Lawn did not get worse but did not look any better either.

Marvivo 05-05-2021 01:20 PM

They kept sending guys and invoices of course 3 months after I closed my account. I love Falcon.

csricksdds 05-05-2021 01:51 PM

After three different I use Deans for everything...TruGreen was the worst

eddie888 05-05-2021 07:02 PM

Nothing better to do

784caroline 05-05-2021 07:23 PM

Calling back so that the person would be fired. Seems kinda bitter.

I agree Foxmd, it doesn’t look any better! When you complain about it they always have a solution but their solutions always cost more money. Most yards aren’t that big in the TV & that’s why I say use Scotts & do it yourself, even if it takes 2 or 3 days. You can email Scotts with pictures & they’ll tell you exactly what you need. I always got compliments about how good my yard looks. Sometimes a lawn service would stop & give me advice on what to do, which helped most of the time.

No, they are very different. I had TruGreen for a couple months and dumped them - terrible. I have been with Zoysia Green for about a year and they have been fantastic, for fertilizer, insect killer and weed killer.

Maybe (?) the poster meant to convey he/she wished to give them feedback to help THEM. I know, I know, most just want to complain, but on the "other side of the coin", so many businesses could really benefit by not taking every concern, suggestion, and even complaint as "just one more of those old coots in the Villages griping their heads off", many large and small businesses would benefit greatly by being more open to why people no longer want to do business with them, instead of just instantly getting very defensive. Same goes with lawn maintenance people, why instantly get so defensive and nasty (and many DO) if someone offers feedback. That goes from small businesses like around here to giant companies like Comcast, it's almost the standard any more that owners to CEO's really do want to be "kept in the dark" about the actual performance of their company/employees/services ! ? Go figure, gathering feedback is a very important part of running a successful business !
