Are you ready to take a 'vaxication' ?
According to Merriam-Webster, vaxication — a portmanteau that blends the words vacation and vax (a common abbreviation for the wore vaccine) — has “increased in use as the COVID-19 vaccine has become more available to the public.” The word, the dictionary says, “is used humorously to describe the post-vaccination travel plans people are making.”
Many travelers have said they booked trips two weeks from the date of their final vaccine appointment — when the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says people are fully vaccinated. Until you are fully vaccinated you cannot travel very far or to very many places. Since virtually everyone in TV has had the opportunity to have vaccination and can now travel, what are your plans? |
I am cruising!

I must be the only one that cares less, on what others do with their lifestyle

We are hoping to eventually feel comfortable enough to fly again. We want to spend more time at our Villages home, and are getting really tired of the 2,740 mile round trip drive. So far four round trip drives since last spring and counting. The other thing I really want to do is get back to the gym so I can resume doing the circuit 3 or 4 times per week, haven't done that since early March of 2020. I rode in a golf cart with a friend who has also been vaccinated last week. First time sharing a golf cart with someone besides my wife in almost 15 months. Baby steps, but beginning to take some calculated risks.

I'm looking south for a waxication.

You can go anywhere without being vaccinated. Even if you are vaccinated, you can still get Covid or transmit the disease to others.

Free, free at last. Simple freedom. Amazing how we took that for granted.

Two weeks after our second shot in Feb. we were teeing off in Arizona. Coming back into Orlando airport in Mar. I was struck by how many people were lined up to take busses to Disney properties. A large portion of America has begun to return to near normal living. Spread those wings.

In the near future, it is likely you will need proof of vaccination to go to some places. For example, cruises.
While there are breakthrough cases of the vaccinated, the percentages are very low. For the Pfizer Phase 3 trial, the breakthrough percentage for the test group (about 20,000 people) was about 0.03%. Recent CDC numbers for about 75 million vaccinated people put the breakthrough percentage at about 0.008%. This represents a probability that is less than suffering permanent injuries in a car accident this year. In addition, only 1% of the breakthrough cases has resulted in death. Quote:

Passing on false information is a bad thing. If you're getting your information from the CDC or Fauci then you already know they have changed their stance on getting/passing on the virus literally dozens of times. So what you choose to believe is your choice, but not actual fact. |

So, mayo clinic is fake news as well? We'll just have to try not to sneeze and spit all over things then rub them on another person so they can get it into their mouths as well. Can COVID-19 (coronavirus) spread through food, water, surfaces and pets? - Mayo Clinic COVID-19 rarely spreads through surfaces. So why are we still deep cleaning? |
Are you serious? I am vacinated now but I never stopped travelling completely. You have to live your life. Never got the Covid, and am glad. Just ready for them to get rid of the worthless masks. There are ZERO studies that show masks work for Covid-19 but some people feel they are somehow sacred. Get your vaccine and lets all move on. I am sure there are a lot of people going to be travelling this summer!

My post was to see how many people in TV were prepared to crawl out of their self-imposed exile and join the human race. It's amazing how many are still drinking the kool-aid..... |

I've traveled at least half my life. I am LIVING my vacation in The Villages. Disney World for seniors. I don't need or want to cruise a bunch of fake islands and tourist traps to enjoy my life. I saw, witnessed, enjoyed the foreign nationals in their home environment without the "tourist" traps. I am perfectly content to enjoy myself here. AND if I ever get the urge to visit another country again, I can take a quick trip to Epcot to remind me of what I have LIVED for many years. You can't go to any country in the world where you won't observe American T shirts with writing in English, hear American rock songs and see American automobiles. If you ride a cruise ship to enjoy the buffet food, just take a trip to Golden Corral. If you cruise to use the gambling facilities, there are casinos within an hour drive from the Villages. Sorry if I am a downer for some, but the truth is that you are gambling your health when you go on those cruise lines. Look at how many come back every year to port with at least half the passengers coming home with some illness. Similar to folks that fly a lot. Look at how many folks that fly get to their destination and have a cold or flu. For what? To enjoy a duplicate of home away from home?

Absolutely totally false. Never, ever, has a cruise or a flight come back with half the passengers sick from something. But I agree, for some people, it's better to live in a shell. I travel internationally and often and will never stop if I can help it. |
I've taken 3 trips already two to Nevada and one to Biloxi.
|
Might as well travel now. Who knows what problems that mRNA vaccine might do to you 2 or 3 years from now.

Not quite false. Several cruises have returned with all kinds of illnesses. Not that I care, since I do not do cruises. I don't have to list many examples to prove my point, but here is one from last year: Caribbean Princess Returns To Port Everglades After 300+ Passengers Get Sick – CBS Miami |

Yep, already gone! Travelling the US in our travel trailer. Left The Villages 4/20, visiting family in AZ. Heading north to Glacier NP after. Vaccinated, wear masks when required, golfing our way around the country!

And, by chance, if something does happen down the road, the class-action slip and fall lawyers will be out of luck. The vaccine manufacturers made a deal with the government to protect them against lawsuits. I guess everybody will have to put the blame on you-know-who.:icon_wink:

From following these threads I have come to the conclusion that 99% of the people barely have a clue what the facts are, but they all have an opinion based on nothing factual. And before everyone goes off the deep end, I include myself in that group.

This is quote is directly from the link you provided: “The extra boost from the urgency of the pandemic and the government funding they received allowed them to conduct large-scale clinical trials at almost the same time that they were tweaking their formulations. By the time Moderna and Pfizer submitted their data to the Food and Drug Administration for Emergency Use Authorization, about 30,000 people in the Moderna trial (including my wife) and over 43,000 in the Pfizer trial had received the vaccine.” That’s it. There have been no long term trials. The FACT is that NO ONE knows if there will be any long term side effects from the vaccine. |
