What unusual feature(s) does your home have

Here's a fun thread for those who are concerned that all homes here are too similar.

What unusual feature does your home have that make it unique?

JMintzer 07-07-2021 06:39 AM

Me...

Oh, and no carpeting and 3 solar tubes...

Toymeister 07-07-2021 06:46 AM

94 year old Mother in Law (who gets cold the Florida 'winter time') vented gas fireplace.

Wife, central vacuum

Me, a home that helps them along the road to happiness

rjn5656 07-07-2021 06:47 AM

Unique

Broken molding and scrapes on garage door opening where my wife didn't make it into the garage with the car.

Wine cellar. Holds about 1000 bottles and is temperature and humidity controlled. Air conditioned room 12 X 20 over the garage. With lights, outlets, ceiling fans.

villagetinker 07-07-2021 07:56 AM

A window seat and additional cabinets in the nook area, this was a DIY project.

We have a plastic six bottle wine rack, and a broom for sweeping up.:icon_wink:

JSR22 07-07-2021 11:42 AM

10 foot hand carved wood totem pole from Alaska and a hand carved wood Cigar Store Indian.

Nucky 07-07-2021 12:18 PM

A downstairs.

Velvet 07-07-2021 12:29 PM

We have a couple of bunny white cotton tails who are responsible for eating my Blue Daze landscaping.

And I saw them looking into the neighbors empty pots that used to contain tomato plants. He was trying to grow tomatoes for some time now and blaming the sun etc for the plants not growing.

We have a pool bath/second master with 30 windows. Can’t get all the windows in the picture…

A note from our 45-yr-old son, left on the fridge when he used the house in our absence two years ago, telling us how much he loves us. It's still there.

billethkid 07-07-2021 05:05 PM

Raised dishwasher to eliminate/minimize bending down to load and unload.

Gas and electric at all appliance locations....plus on the lanai.

Laker14 07-07-2021 06:23 PM

Our lanai is kicked out an extra 5 feet in width. We like that a lot. Also, an expanded garage. I wanted a garage with the extra golf cart space, but we wound up with the expanded garage. It's kicked out 5 feet in width, and 4 feet in length. Actually plenty of room for us, even though it isn't what I originally desired.
From the street, it looks like the other 50,000 Gardenias. But we like it. And the other 50,000 Gardenias. We like them too.

Custom wine grotto. Custom pantry. Custom office nook. Widened and stretched garage with forward-facing window and forward wall mounted EV 240 outlet. Custom pool with four-sided spillover spa with separate gas-fed fire pit.

J1ceasar 07-08-2021 05:54 AM

Funny you should say that I have a business acquaintance in Indiana that travels a lot to Alaska and they brought back I think a 20 ft Indian totem pole and put it in there living room around a small fountain with water and bubbling. Please post a few pictures I'd love to see it

J1ceasar 07-08-2021 05:56 AM

So nice

To see so many people with a lot of extra money to spend. I do not begrudge for being successful in your life. But I truly hope you're spreading it around with charity and there still are so many homeless and so many without enough food in their lives. No I'm not so called liberal nut Job just someone who cares. So my question would be what have you done to help the world this year?

J1ceasar 07-08-2021 05:59 AM

Raised

That's something I always wish kitchen designers would have thought of to help us seniors. I also have always thought that microwave should be on the counter. But of course none of us ever have enough counter space

I wouldn't call you a "liberal nut job", but I find it interesting that you have no problems "suggesting" how others spend their money.

Self-cleaning kitchen and bathrooms, self-stocking refrigerator, self-ironing laundry room and self-making beds. Signed, Self...

TorriJ 07-08-2021 06:28 AM

Instead of a Florida Room, we have a North Woods Room.

dyendell 07-08-2021 06:43 AM

After reading these ive come to the conclusion that no improvements justify the 100% price increases now. Wonder why? Maybe because TV isn’t a lunatic run liberal city.

Taltarzac725 07-08-2021 06:49 AM

A closet full of One Blood t-shirts and other items to wear along with way too many One Blood blankets, One Blood carrying cases and other One Blood items. That is what happens when you donate platelets about 20 times year.

But there are a good number of One Blood platelet donors who show up about the same time I do so maybe this is not a unique situation.

That’s true there are homeless in America, but no one is starving in America. There’s a tremendous amount of free or subsidized food for the poor in America. Often times, the poor are the most overweight and obese in America.

I eat only one meal a day, no snacks and I’m not hungry all the time. I do the intermittent fasting to lose weight and to improve my health with autophagy.

Many people are poor and unsuccessful in life because they are simply too lazy to work hard. Of course, bad luck plays a part, but you can improve your life if you are motivated to do so. Some of the poor people are simply lazy freeloaders. I used to be one of those poor people until mid-life when I radically improved my life and my standard of living, by investing the effort into improving my own life.

Charity starts at home. Give away all your money and possessions first, before telling others what they should be doing with their hard earned money.

Spending that "extra money" spreads it around to the local economy...

HJBeck 07-08-2021 07:29 AM

Me. My wife says I’m very unusual.
