Missing poster's

Who if any are some of the Posters that you miss?

Rubicon

The Guy who wrote the Nuts and Bolts of The Villages. Excellent person. On to his Eternal Reward. Just remembered Zcaveman.

Bonnie

CWGUY

Wiotte A.K.A. = 100 other names. :1rotfl:

Chatbrat, always interesting and a nice guy in person.

Who else can you think of? Some bring a smile others bring some bad memories especially one which I hope we don't see the name in writing.

Allegiance

dbussone

ABBY10

FW10207

Barefoot

Some fond memories for me on my list.

I hope they are all thriving and healthy.

John-something who helpfully provided a tremendous amount of Florida and Villages information along with incredible photos. It took him a lot of knowledge, time and effort to create some posts

He was awesome - his posts were very detailed, and he responded to PMs with helpful info

Another vote for John W

NoMo50 07-13-2021 05:40 AM

John_W was awesome. Before we even came for our Lifestyle Visit, he always provided helpful and accurate info. His posts were a ray of sunshine amongst the all too often darker postings. I'm hoping he just got fed up with the chronic complainers who seem to dominate the site, and hope that he is in good health enjoying life sans the whiners.

CFrance 07-13-2021 06:35 AM

I so miss dbussone, a gentle voice of reason. And also Tomwed, a great cook.

Papa_lecki 07-13-2021 06:38 AM

It seems this forum is set up for 1)newcomers and 2) rabble rousers

I certainly log on much less since I bought a house in TV. Guys like John probably got tired of the condescending comments and how threads drag on with pointless comments.

Newcomers get good information, but probably soon tire of the bickering.

Take a look at their profiles...................it gives you their last sign-on date/time.

That’s the type of comments I am talking about - what value does that add?
From the guy who only joined 5 months ago.

John_W was also my favorite.
Informative answers and interesting pictures.

As a long time lurker under my wife's account, there a number of names I recognize on the OP's list. Abbey10 always wrote with common sense and a positive attitude, Rubicon was often wrong, but never suffered from a lack of confidence in his opinions. Wiotte/RickeyD is probably still half of the current active members, under a gazillion new names.ha-ha I also miss Coldnomore, as at least he wasn't part of the echo chamber that so often rears its head around here and provided links and facts to back his unpopular dissenting views - which made a lot of the extremists look pretty silly. Of course, doing that just meant his time was limited. lol

Heyitsrick 07-13-2021 07:24 AM

Chalk up another very positive vote for John_W from me.

Wasn't there an individual who some may have thought was a resident agent provocateur (my polite characterization) with the user name ColdNoMore?

There is a couple of folks who continue to frequent forums here that fall into the egregiously pompous realm, in my view. I wouldn't miss them if they left.

dewilson58 07-13-2021 07:25 AM

Lots of new posters (in the last two years) who are old posters with new names.

We could create a new thread naming old posters under a new.

:clap2:

"that fall into the egregiously pompous realm"

If being "egregiously pompous" was actually against the rules, the site would lose so many highly-active members, that its very viability might be threatened. lol

I wasn’t complaining about the new members. What I’m saying is the new members are like you and I.
They are interested in buying in The Villages, we use this forum as a source to get information about where to buy, electricians, landscapers, tradesmen, etc. At some point, we don’t need this forum as much.

After we buy, our source becomes our neighbors. I see a neighbor putting in steps to the attic, I write down the guy who did the work, in case I decide to do that job.

Chi-Town 07-13-2021 08:17 AM

Another vote for CNM; he always entertained. And strangely enough Russ Boston who could never pass up reminding posters there was no Lake SumPter.

Carla B 07-13-2021 08:28 AM

Yes, you all have mentioned many to miss: the Great Fumar, zzcaveman, Red Witch, TomWed, another Tom (Hannon?), Barefoot, Kathy I. Also dbussone, who is busy sorting out the ambulance situation. And, of course, John_W., the victim of another poster's criticism, which caused him to delete all his posts with the photos. And a few years ago there was Richard, whose screen name was Sandtrap, I think, and who generously shared his citrus crop with any who wanted it. And Chatbrat who shared his viewpoints on just about everything.

But who was the guy who eventually moved-----he was always touting organic food/veggies---etc.?
Barefoot is still around, but being held hostage (with my lobster) north of the border.

That Rapscallion (?) guy or Village Chicken, I think they both moved recently.

Taltarzac725 07-13-2021 09:00 AM

Redwitch.
2BNTV.
ABBY10.
Fumar.
Donna.
EJP10.
Islandgal.
KathieI.

There was a retired labor lawyer from NYC whom I also knew at the dog park who was very interesting.

JohnW was very helpful.

ZCaveman was great as an NFL Pick-Em creator, co FunTrivia Calculator team member, and helpful commentator.

The police officer in Tampa, Carl.

Rockin' Rhonda.

I met a retired NYPD officer and his wife at a Crisper's meeting who also would come to the dog park.

Barefoot who is very friendly in person along with her husband.

Some of these posters are Eternal Members like Donna who lived a few hundred feet from us with her husband who worked up in PA. She was big into the paranormal here and in PA.

And egregiously pompous does fit some of my posts.

Other posters I regretted having anything to do with.

I don't think it was either of them. I'm sure GG would know.......

Railcruiser was very helpful. Usually I think this was via Private Messages. I knew the couple in person too.

She passed around 2011. But she could be around. She was very interested in the Lady Lake ghost-- The Legend of Julia, the White Lady of Rolling Acres Road in Lady Lake – Tripping on Legends…

Are you thinking of Villages PL? He was a serious vegan who became one after reading the book "The China Study." He suddenly stopped posting. Jimbo2012, another vegan, is still here. He posted that he had moved to one of The Villages south of 44. I enjoyed their postings about their diets.

I recall Villages PL. Miss that poster.

Another great poster from the early days who passed away was Muncle.

Taltarzac725 07-13-2021 11:19 AM

Summary of May 6, 1965 Twin Cities Tornadoes

I ran into a lurker who asked me if I was Tal or something like that and she ended up describing her experiences during a May 6, 1965 tornado in the Minneapolis area that destroyed some of the school at which she worked. 50 years later, north metro recalls killer tornadoes - StarTribune.com

She did tell me her handle but I forget it.

Muncle was hilarious.

There was a poster who ran an ice cream place near Mulberry Lane on CR42 who was fun.
