Natural Gas Lines in TV

Sorry but I can't answer your exact question. We do not have natural gas but, along with several neighbors, have installed a PIG (propane in ground) tank and converted our stove to gas along with connecting our outdoor grill. The tank is topped off regularly and has never been an issue in over ten years.

Jim 9922 07-13-2021 10:31 AM

I sent you a PM that may help.

ctmurray 07-13-2021 03:43 PM

I know homes in CDD4 all have gas. We are at the northern edge of the Villages in Marion county. I recall hearing that the older CDDs, above 466 have gas. And that places below 466A to county 42 do not, again someone told us this. I am surprised that a Villages sales person does not know, I think what I repeated was told to us by our Villages sales person. Possibly it is not as cut and dried, some areas in between 466 and 42 have gas for example. Thus the vague answers.

1. I spoke to both gas utility providers. They can only search by an individual address.
2. I spoke with both a VLM agent and MLS realtor. They can only search current listings by key words like “gas”.
3. I contacted TV District office, they could not help.
4. I called the construction development office who referred me to the gas companies!

I completed a lifestyle preview visit, and hoping to move to TV. I know most of the new construction has connectivity to natural gas, but I’m looking at existing homes too. I’m just perplexed that no one WITH TV can help with this simple information. I mean they can tell which homes have a certain HVAC unit, or how old the roof is on a home, but they don’t know which neighborhoods they installed natural gas lines in??
If anyone has the name of a contact person with TV that might have this information, please advise.
TIA

I don't know who you can contact, however, when we had our house built in Glenbrook (CDD 3) we had the option of natural gas or electric for appliances and HVAC. Our stove, drier and HVAC are all gas as is our water heater. I would guess that any resale in this area would have access to natural gas. Perhaps others, in different CDDs, following this thread could comment on whether or not their neighborhood has natural gas lines.

Our home in Mallory Square has natural gas.

Garywt 07-13-2021 09:58 PM

We are in CDD 4 and Marion County and do not have gas. I always thought it was a southern thing but sounds like it is a little hear, a little there…

jbartle1 07-14-2021 03:06 AM

La Zamora has natural gas.

FenneyGuy 07-14-2021 03:11 AM

Fenney has natural gas.

Annie66 07-14-2021 05:26 AM

Piedmont and Springdale have natural gas. Gas costs $18.70 per month just for the hook-up. This month, and most except for a couple of winter months, the hook-up charges exceed the cost of gas purchased. I wonder if it saves that much over a heat pump on a year-round basis. It is nice to have a gas clothes dryer and water heater that actually get clothes dry and water hot, though.

RICH1 07-14-2021 06:05 AM

Love the CNG ... Like previously said... Hot water , dry clothes, and a controlled cooking temperature.. you are doing your do diligence, bless you .

llaran 07-14-2021 06:08 AM

our house in tall trees has gas heat and water but the stove has both, i believe gas goes down to 466a. gas lines are not what you had up north, they are in the attic and are like the dryer hook up lines.

Desert Dave 07-14-2021 06:18 AM

We have gas in Bridgeport Lake Sumter.

LeDia 07-14-2021 06:34 AM

Gas Lines

There are sections of Amelia with gas. I live on Kerwood Loop and was told that there is no gas on my street. BUT, there are the gas lines in our yards and I’ve had Teco check it out and they will be running gas lines to my house. When the houses were built the lines were run but, I don’t know the reason, the villages chose to put in all electric appliances instead. I will have to pay for the line to be run from the outside into the house.

Houses between 466A and 44 do not have natural gas. North of 466A and South of 44 all have it.

Jerseygirl08 07-14-2021 06:47 AM

Caroline has gas, not sure if all do, but I do.

We have gas in St. Catherine, in the St. Catherine Cottage Villas.

Corvettegal 07-14-2021 06:49 AM

Virginia Trace and Hiahleah Villas gas

We have gas on Haynesville Way in Virginia Trace. We also had gas on Ascot Loop in Hialeah Villas. All of these locations are south of 466 and north of 466 a. Hope that helps

KristineTVFL 07-14-2021 06:51 AM

Call your real estate agent. I’ll bet they know or can tell you how to find out.

Larchap49 07-14-2021 06:57 AM

Linden and Linden Isle have gas, Chitty Chatty does not have gas, all south of 44.

Luckytwo 07-14-2021 07:04 AM

Marsh Bend has natural gas.

joelfmi 07-14-2021 07:24 AM

This is what a licensed plumber would look for when checking for gas in a home.

1. look for the gas mete, ask your neighbor where his gas meter is located.
2. All gas companies have a list of locations were their gas mains are and what homes
they supply.
3. THE VILLIAGES have a list. their construction dept. has this on file.
4. Only a Plumber that must be licensed can get a list.
5. You cannot do any DYI gas piping at all.

Before you buy at the villages make sure you do your HOME WORK AND CHECT OUT THE PLACE. MAKE SURE IT'S NOT A SMOKE AND MIRRORS COMMUNITY.

Just curious where you are in CDD 4 that doesn't have gas. We are also in CDD 4 off Legacy between Belle Meade & Buena Vista and every home here has gas. Do you have an electric furnace? Do you have electric hot water? If there is an area here in CDD 4 without access to natural gas, I'd be quite surprised.

LG999 07-14-2021 07:51 AM

My house in Caroline has a gas stove exactly the same as my gas stove in NYC. I did not install it & had nothing to do with it. The house is “pre owned” and I never met the original owner. But - I am so glad I am able to cook w gas

rmjexline 07-14-2021 07:58 AM

I know Santiago, Springdale and Sabal Chase all have gas.

Not all villages have gas in their whole village. Some villages, like Santo Domingo, some streets have gas some do not. My area of Santo Domingo does not have gas in the street the east side of Caszaras in Santo Domingo does. Go figure.

peggyb 07-14-2021 08:24 AM

In Liberty Park with gas.

shortnsassy 07-14-2021 08:28 AM

The last village to have gas north of 466A is the Village of Amelia which is District 6. The villages after Amelia do not have gas. When the Village of Fenney was build they all had gas. I’m not sure about the other villages in between but assuming they have gas. There is no gas in the villages between 466A and CR44. Hope this helps.

I think that neighborhoods north of Hwy 466 have natural gas. Most of the neighborhoods between 466 and Highway 44 do not have natural gas, but there are exceptions especially in the ones near Hwy 466 (Winifred, Lynnhaven). South of Hwy 44, Chitty Chatty and Bradford do not have natural gas, but the rest of the areas that have homes do have it. I do not know if any of the other new areas will have natural gas. A Villages realtor would probably be the best resource, especially if there is a home or area that you are interested in.

We’re in St. James just north of 466A and no gas available.

When we purchased that was a major decision maker.

I believe areas north of Bonita Blvd have natural gas. Largo for example does. But around 2007 or 2008 and newer (until you get south of the turnpike), those homes do not appear to. I believe there was a conflict between the Villages and the gas company around 2007.

Drive around and look for the telltale signs of natural gas vents.

Natural Gas

I'm surprised the gas company wasn't more helpful. I worked for a utility who operated in Illinois/Missouri and we were required to keep records of where the gas lines were installed. It's a DOT (Department of Transportation) requirement. Gas mains are in the area south of 466A but for some reason The Villages chose not to have them made available to the homeowners in that area. I've noticed pool heaters that are supplied by natural gas and if I'm not mistaken, there is a main line that runs down Hillsboro. When locators are called in to mark utility lines, the yellow marks indicate natural gas mains/services. You may want to check with gas company again and ask to talk to the Engineering Department.

TesaA 07-14-2021 11:45 AM

We are in Bonnybrook and have gas connections.

charmed59 07-14-2021 12:12 PM

Virginia Trace and Bridgeport at Lake Sumter do have gas. Creekside Villas, which is in between them, does not.
