Mine works great. One gate is too high and it won't work on it, but I have used it at about 15 gates where it worked fine.

Yes, it works fine on all but 1 gate for me where it is erradic. Lot's of variables including the height of your mirror (vs the height of the gate pad) as well as if you have a lot of "electronics" in it. I had one car that wouldn't even pass the signal. They work great but you will have to change your driving habits. You can't just fly through the gate. You have to come to a stop as close to the pad as safely as you can and breath slowly. :) You'll find that most of the "problematic" gates are in the older northern areas of the Villages where the pads are lower (and older).

:blahblahblah::blahblahblah::blahblahblah: I always wondered what that silly 8 sided red sign was for....... and where in the Villages are the most "problematic" drivers? :icon_wink:

Babubhat 02-06-2022 02:20 PM

Generally works well. More problematic on the historic side

Didn’t work well for me plus getting so close to the readers could cause wheel rash to my alloy rims. I’ll wait until The Villages come up with their own version. Not holding my breath!

It works will so far, for $25 his name is Joe (845) 542-7365. You need to get close edge of mirror to gate sensor about 6inches been using it for 3 months haven't scraped my rims yet.

twoplanekid 02-06-2022 05:01 PM

Works well for me but would still like to see auto open gates in both directions.

Garywt 02-06-2022 05:16 PM

At least 2 people do this. Thinking about it as I don’t even have a gate card for the cars so I hit the red button to get in. Someday I might at least get additional gate cards.

JMintzer 02-06-2022 06:14 PM

My wife had one installed yesterday. They had a group installation in our neighborhood. I spoke with her today and she told me it's working great!

You have to have a gate card because your card is cloned to the one they put in the mirror.

That being said, if anyone wants a "side mirror gate chip" I'll give it to you for free and if you think it's worth it you can send me a thank-you gift of $20 and if you don't think it's worth it or don't like it keep it as a free gift from me.

Good luck peeling the gate card our of the mirror and it being reusable. There is a circle made of VERY tiny wires that starts about 1 inch in diameter and winds creating a circle about 1.5 inches in diameter. If you break a single wire (which you will absolutely do) then the chip is useless.

This is what I use and can be easily relocated,

Installation took 20 minutes in my garage. So far it works fine. Takes a bit to get used to though

Some gates better than others. Overall just OK but worth $25 IMO

34gunner 02-07-2022 06:23 AM

Yep. Works great.

bowlingal 02-07-2022 06:25 AM

I found out I didn't need it. the card works right thru the closed window... make sure you are lined up correctly with the beam. try it before you spend money you don't have to.

Yep, great idea for old people. :ohdear::ohdear:

Was behind a car that went back and forward twice to get close enough. Wonderful.

:cryin2:

kidnerkim 02-07-2022 06:32 AM

Love it!

My wife had one put on our Traverse (and I have no idea who it was); it works great.

Black Beauty 02-07-2022 07:22 AM

Works good. Why didn't the Villages think of this?

bluecenturian 02-07-2022 07:27 AM

Have it on my golf cart, suv, and large pickup. All work fine with exception of 1 gate for the pickup. Too much height difference. Just need to pul closer than when you wave the card.

WindyCityzen 02-07-2022 07:31 AM

Works like a charm. My new SunPass. Lol.

It took a couple of tries, but now it works great. I had to mount it on the outside of the mirror though.

Bobbie291 02-07-2022 07:45 AM

Car chips

We have them in both cars - work great

And they probably would have spent more time digging out their card and trying to get close enough to the pad to have it read...

Greg L 02-07-2022 08:09 AM

Works well BUT you have to get real close

jedalton 02-07-2022 08:30 AM

great

Works great for me! I love it especially when it’s raining and I don’t have to open my window to use my gate card.

Rosemg 02-07-2022 08:44 AM

Yes, works great. Ed Ingalls 217 433 1394. $39 per car and they come to your home.

rsmurano 02-07-2022 08:49 AM

Perfect

My wife and I have a chip on each of our golf carts and our car. All work perfectly. We have a number of neighbors who have had the same experience. I highly recommend them.
