It’s noise, not music

Exactly. I was going to be deaf by the age of 30 and lice were going to invade my hair. Our generation did not know what hard work was and we were all drug using no-goods. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Elvis and the Beatles didn't have long rap sheets full of gun charges and advocate killing Police Officers.

Back in the day, they had music during halftime. Now they have Rap, that’s not music?

Not me. Not ever. Regarding the half time "talent", I would not spend one second listening or watching those low lifes. I do not want in any way to endorse or support how these individuals choose to live.

Hip hop music - Wikipedia

Quite a lot of different styles of music in this discussion of Hip Hop or Rap music.

It does have many fans.

My TV will either be turned off or on another channel for 45 minutes at half time. Just another reason to detest Roger Goodell and all that he stands for

If you detest Roger Goodell and "all that he stands for" why would you watch any of the game?

Kinda hard to refer to 5 performers worth approximately 1.5 Billion combined low lifes.

as the daughter, niece, and sister of police officers, I do not in any way approve of the lyrics calling for violence against the police.
but artists have been using violence and explicit lyrics in the past, so it's not a new thing rap is doing.. you may remember when Tipper Gore founded a group to put warning labels on music with explicit lyrics or advocating violence. she was prompted by listening to a Prince song, Darling Nikki. As you may recall, it didn't stop Prince from performing at the Super Bowl. he was not the only one with such lyrics:They criticized her and the PMRC for issuing the “Filthy Fifteen,” a list of artists whose works regularly included explicitly sexual or violent material. Artists on the list included AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, Sheena Easton, Judas Priest, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, the Mary Jane Girls, Merrcyful Fate, Motley Crue, Prince, Twisted Sister, Vanity, Venom, and W.A.S.P. Gore was criticized harshly for her actions.

I was at a Janis Joplin concert in 1969 and she was famous for her sexualized actions on stage and police actually came onto the stage to stop the concert. she actually starting threatening them with a drum stick. what a show.

Usually we look forwards to the half time show, not this time. We plan to skip it at our place.

Nucky 02-13-2022 05:51 PM

During a visit to N.J. last summer I asked our 12-year-old grandson to turn down that garbage you are playing. He turned it down immediately but came into our room and wanted to talk about why I wanted it turned down. I said certainly son, it's almost 11 PM. Quiet time. No problem.

The next day while we were driving to pick up the groceries at Shop-Rite he asked me if I could turn off the crummy music I had on my radio. I asked him why. He said they normally don't listen to Funeral Music and that my choice of music was Jacked Up.

I'm going to watch most of the entire festivities including halftime unless it really bothers me or my wife. She's hip, she probably knows the songs.

The way I look at it all is I'm on the 20-yard line of life heading for the endzone. The last two years have been rough for us in many ways. I decided to not have issues with everything, this is one of those things. I'm hoping my life gets extended by at least a double overtime. Enjoy.

because i happen to like the sport of football.. I dont have to like rappers that hate the police in order to watch a football game or to support Pepsi for sponsoring these miscreants.

Yeah Right.

Come Monday and days to come, all the heap will be on TV, social media radio, Computer Browers etc.
You might think you'll escape it all, but it will haunt you for days.

You are comparing sexually explicit lyrics to advocating killing Police Officers? Please post examples of any of those singers or group that said kill the Police?

Might have to check it out. Could be a short view .

Wow! I for one have never listened to any of these “artists”. There must be some code of general human decency which we must all uphold. Anyways, thank you for enlightening me.

Although apparently hate speech is allowed:
“The United States does not have hate speech laws, since the U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that laws criminalizing hate speech violate the guarantee to freedom of speech contained in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”

No, it was a Lip-Sync fustercluck... The Eminem song was passable, but horribly lip-synched, as well...

I learned something about the lyrics being against the Police. Why did they get picked to perform. I understand better why so many people objected. That’s not entertaining that’s disgusting.

Next year Tommy James, And the nice lady with the Pips!

At least no breasts were exposed.
