Covid Booster made me ill

I had my 4th Covid booster at 10 am yesterday. By 10pm bedtime I was running a fever; had strong, lucid dreams; had pain in my neck and arm; was shivering and could not stay warm-- the list goes on. It was a miserable night. Today, I am weak as a cat, but otherwise I am okay. Like most of us, I do not like wearing a mask, but if wearing one will keep a toddler or frail elderly person from getting sick, I will wear the damn thing. I am not that selfish. I understand wearing a mask might be ineffectual, but still, I will wear it for the good of those around me

Keefelane66 04-20-2022 10:28 AM

Fortunately I had no adverse reaction, mend well.

manaboutown 04-20-2022 10:47 AM

It is my understanding that only a second booster is authorized at this time and that is for specified groups. How on earth did you receive four boosters?

1st dose 2nd dose 1st booster 2nd booster = 4 vaccinations total

billethkid 04-20-2022 10:57 AM

No side effects for wife or I with booster #2 (shot #4).....like a flu shot!

Yes. But the OP said he/she had had four boosters, not four shots.

I’d suggest taking up with the OP
I agree with your quote “ To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead”

OP misspoke, apparently. Maybe too concerned about patting himself on the back for his unselfish mask wearing.

We both had our second booster 12 days ago and no side effects at all. A bit of tiredness with first vaccine but other than that we are both fine.

MartinSE 04-20-2022 12:50 PM

Sounds like you won the lottery. Thats a good thing, your body was building antibodies and booting your immunity.

The wife and I both got our 4th a week ago and had mild flu like reaction.

Everybody is different.

My wife cannot take vaccinations without getting really sick. Fortunately she had COVID a year ago last November, and antibodies confirmed by her doctor at her annual physical last month, so she's in the clear now.

Husband got strong reactions to the Moderna, both second dose and the two boosters. Couldn't figure out why he was dying, then remembered it was the day after his second booster. I've never had any reaction to the Pfizer shots.

So true. Gotta love virtue signaling.

Or maybe the pain from spraining his arm caused him to mis-type. It’s dangerous to pat yourself on the back that enthusiastically.

GpaVader 04-20-2022 02:36 PM

Sorry but all of this is worthless without knowing who's booster shot you got...

I had Moderna for all 3 of my shots and 24 hours after the shot I had body aches and chills and then back to normal. My wife had the other shot (forgot the name) but she had nothing afterwards. It's possible for anyone....

I took the OP to mean two vaccine shots and two boosters for a total of four shots.

I was accused of "virtue signaling" when I was hot and heavy on masking up BEFORE we had vaccines available for the general public. No more masking for me at this point. Anyone who is vulnerable for what ever reason should protect themselves by wearing an N95 mask when appropriate. Children should be kept safe by their parents, however they plan to do that is up to them.

I think maybe the OP meant it was their 4th vaccine, since Pfizer's count is at 4 total now, and that's the most common one.

I've had three, will probably get a fourth once my health insurance says they'll cover it. They've changed who can get it in the past few days, I don't remember what the text was. I only know that prior to the change, I was not on the list of "recommended people" and now I am.

Totally agree. If a place I'm going requires me to wear a mask, I will wear one - without complaint. I am not bothered by wearing them at all. I'm vaccinated and boosted, will get the second boost whenever my insurance says it's covered, but I'm not going to worry about being a carrier and spreading it to all my nearest and dearest anymore. If they want to protect themselves, they absolutely should. If not, then they won't.

Wife and I get our second booster at end of this month.
This afternoon we took grandson in our car to hit some golf balls at local range.
He phoned tonight to let us know he has just tested positive.
Hey Ho!

chrisinva 04-20-2022 03:59 PM

Got my 4th covid shot on Good Friday. (1st vaccine + 2nd vaccine + 1st booster + 2nd booster) Used Pfizer for #4, first 3 were Moderna. I wanted to do something wild & crazy. No problems. We're all different.

Hey Ho!

Hopefully he had gotten vaccine and maybe a booster so he would get a very mild case.

Our 8 year old grandson got it via his father but luckily both had mild case and back to work and school.

Be careful out there

Taurus510 04-20-2022 04:29 PM

Single Shot

I got the single shot vaccine almost a year ago. No boosters, nothing. Got the Rona recently, and I can promise you, I’ll take the Rona over the flu any day. The Rona gave me an annoying cough and made me a little tired, but that was all.

EdFNJ 04-20-2022 04:37 PM

WOW, Been a while since our last MASK / VACCINE thread. This one is a BOGO and covers them both in one.

Pool on how many posts in 48 hrs?

Nucky 04-20-2022 04:47 PM

Pass the thread if you don't like it. The OP was feeling like garbage and wanted to put it out there for discussion. That is what TOTV'S is here for.

OP, we both felt like hell for about a day and a half after the second booster. My wife's arm was red as hell for about a week. We are fine now.

Hope your feeling better quickly and I knew what you meant in your post, 2 shots, and 2 boosters. Jeez!

I encourage anyone with any info or concern about Covid to post here. It's all interesting.

The pool on how many posts isn't really important. What counts is the people are here to post even if they didn't get the shots.

Does that mean you don't want to join in the betting pool? It's a BOGO! Sometimes folks just need to lighten up a teeny bit. :1rotfl:

My husband and I also had no adverse reaction to 2nd booster, 4th shot.

Had the two requisite shots and THOUGHT about getting a booster, but both of us caught the dreaded covid before we were even candidates for the booster. The covid was less hassle than the shot reaction. We got over it in a few days. Decided to forego the boosters for right now. Quarantined while we had the virus and now wear the mask ONLY for doctor appointments. Everyone in our family has had covid and going about their business today without fear, some getting the booster, some not. Do what you gotta do. Right now, I am a bit more concerned about reactions from the shots than from the virus. But, that's just me and my opinion. It's not that I don't trust doctors, but I still don't trust politicians.
I empathize with the OP for his reaction to the booster. Hope you live through it. On the bright side, maybe the virus won't be as bad. The virus was not as bad as the reactions to any of my family, but maybe we were all lucky.....all 20+ of us. Of course, not all of the family had their shots before they caught the virus. Life has returned to normal for most of us.

You were poisoned by the 4th booster. Nothing you can do now that it is in your system.

Merrills 04-21-2022 06:44 AM

Congratulations, you have a strong immune response!

GOLFER54 04-21-2022 06:48 AM

You misread what she said, 4 in total. 😀

Poisoned? Guess you do not think that it is a good thing that the vast majority of people who now get the virus get a very mild case and survive it.

Gunny2403 04-21-2022 07:00 AM

And your point is ?

Blackbird45 04-21-2022 07:00 AM

Weigh it out

My first and second was a dream, my third and fourth was a bit of a nightmare.
I had the chills for 1 night and my arm was sore for three days.
But if it can reduce my chances of going to the hospital, it's worth it.

Look up the flu numbers since 2020.

raynan 04-21-2022 07:34 AM

I had a reaction of chills and slept around the clock after the 1st Pfizer, no reaction after the 2nd shot, no reaction after the 1st booster and then had the 2nd booster late Tuesday and by noon on Wednesday teeth chattering chills, fever and deep sleep and sweats overnight. Feeling washed out today but better.

Jacob85 04-21-2022 07:39 AM

It has been proven the N95 mask works!
