When we moved here we had 3 dogs. We were told that once one crossed the bridge we had to only have 2 dogs. There is not a registration of who lives in a home. I don't see any problem of people in a 2 bedroom home.

Mortal1 05-08-2022 08:46 AM

so google the villages deed restrictions....write the number down or email them and ask. what could be simpler?

Babubhat 05-08-2022 08:54 AM

Record audio, decibel levels and video of the barking. Sue them in civil court for nuisance. Get there attention

The answers varies by deed restriction. I know we were looking at one house, in a village near LSL - and there was a restriction on # and size of dog(s).

You just need to search for the deed of the house, it will be spelled out there.

It definitely depends on the District. D1 & D2 (Sumter County) for example limit owners to 1 dog. Later districts say 2.

District 13 doesn't place a limit on the number.

Taltarzac725 05-08-2022 09:25 AM

Village Community Development Districts

This will answer your deed restriction questions.

Garywt 05-08-2022 09:41 PM

Our area is 2 pets but as someone said, it you have more when you move in you just can’t replace them. Have never heard of a limit of adults.

davem4616 05-08-2022 11:13 PM

slippery slop...doesn't seem to be enforced no matter what the deed restrictions say

retiredguy123 05-08-2022 11:48 PM

The Villages has lots of rules, but enforcement is the problem.

Siegfried 05-09-2022 05:15 AM

Seventeen.

bowlingal 05-09-2022 05:47 AM

I am researching moving to TV and have been told that if you have more than 2 you can bring them, but if one passes you cannot replace.
Before bringing to TV, definitely speak with the family.
As a pet owner, I respect my neighbors and would want to hear from my neighbor if my dogs were bothering anyone vs going to TV and creating problems for the family and pets. Pets are family.

I’d rather have pups as neighbors than humans any day! This keeps the neighborhood pups from barking or mine if they get over talkative!!

Don't expect any help from the Villages.

Snprentice 05-09-2022 07:36 AM

I would think the house would be a single family dwelling. If there are 4 adults and 4 dogs there all the time, I would investigate and report to police for barking nuisance

Not exactly. People moving into The Villages with more pets than allowed are not grandfathered, they are exempted from a current rule for no valid reason.

"A grandfather clause, or legacy clause, is an exemption that allows persons or entities to continue with activities or operations that were approved before the implementation of new rules, regulations, or laws."

District 5 states a limit of 2 pets. Our agent said it was to prevent animal hoarding.

mikeritz53 05-09-2022 08:02 AM

No occupancy limit as far as I have heard, but there is a 2 Pet limit.

OhioBuckeye 05-09-2022 08:15 AM

Oh I think you’re opening argument doors from the animal lovers in TV. To tell a home owner that there’s a restriction on how many animals you can have is showing them we’re leaning toward a socialist society, called control. That could be a touchy article!

Thanks for posting some fact :)

Although it foils my plan to have a horse in my garage. I was thinking the golf car door would be just right. Oh well.

Also county rules vary. Dogs bark to talk to each other and to people. Sometimes if dogs meet who is on the other side of fence. It helps. Mine bark at a noise then neighbor speaks the recognize him and stop.

ron32162 05-09-2022 09:08 AM

Two families can live in a single-family home provided that doing so isn't specifically prohibited by local zoning ordinances or homeowners association rules.

Get rid of the dogs and two people as quickly as possible it's no way to live even if you need their rent money find another way even a second job. You may need an eviction notice from the courts to get them out.

I used to have an acquaintance down the street who had three or four lovely little Italian greyhounds, all elderly and silent. The biggest problem was when she took them all for a walk, they wrapped their leashes around her ankles, and she fell over. It hurt her pretty badly, as I recall.

Babubhat 05-09-2022 10:08 AM

Start by paying a lawyer to write a letter to both Community standards and offender. Puts them on notice. Community standards has to respond when lawyer involved

Cfdettmer 05-09-2022 10:09 AM

For someone that won’t look up their deed restrictions you think they will do recording of audio, decibel levers and video of the barking? Nah, won’t happen.

The fake bird house gadget works. I've used it for a neighbor's dog a while back. I put it in a tree facing their yard. Worked in a day or two. If you have a dog, I would keep it inside during the training phase.

Sadly, you cannot reason with people. Our previous home, not in Florida we had the neighbors from hell move in. Not the only reason but part of the reason we chose to move.

The rules, the laws? Would be rare indeed that such rude people will say, I'm sorry, I didn't realize it AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH NO HARD FEELINGS.

Might be wise to speak with other neighbors to see if others are simply waiting for a leader. Do they own the property or are they renters? There are ultra sound devices that go off when a dog barks. The neighbor will not know why the dog stopped barking-get a good one. The sound is directional. It needs to be on a pole and pointed at the dog.

I got several pet lizards, mocking bird, and red bird. And my next best friend Blue Racer.

Nucky 05-09-2022 06:29 PM

We have a newish neighbor who has three fairly decent size Pit Bull Mixed Doggies. I don't care. It's not my business correct?

Turns out that the house is full of Dogs and he only brings them out three at a time. Guess what? I still don't care.

The latest and greatest is this menagerie of dogs are leaving gifts in our back yard. Now I care. They were doing fine by me up till now. I'm going over to speak with him shortly. Wish him luck. I do hope his words and actions are proper! We'll see.

My time of being the enforcer is supposed to be over. I'm Disabled, Retired, and Tired of hearing about all the stuff from pre-retired life. I'm going to state the Facts Ma'am. Just the Facts. Let's see where this goes with the new neighbors. I'm from Jersey, He's from N.Y. what could go wrong? I will NOT be carrying today.

Could you tell me more about this gadget? What is it called? We have a barker. She is so reactive. We have tried everything short of a shock collar. I just want her to stop barking at everything. Sometimes she barks when my stomach growls.
