The Market at Sawgrass Grove is open (partially)

The Market is open. Just stopped by - but only about half of the shops are open.

The Coffee Bar was very busy as was Darlin’s Sweet Shoppe and The Villages Grown.

It looks like the shops that aren't open, will open soon.

Djean1981 07-13-2022 12:43 PM

Yeah!!

NatureBoy 07-13-2022 12:58 PM

How crowded was it?
This "soft" opening seems widely publicized - including the front page of The Daily Sun.

I didn't think it was crowded - but then about half of the shops weren't open. The prices at the coffee shop seemed to be about the same as Starbucks and the prices at the Sweet Shop seemed pretty high - $3 for a small cookie and $4 for a large cookie.

Oldragbagger 07-13-2022 05:27 PM

When we stopped this afternoon around 4 p.m. everything was open except Little Fin and the butcher shop. The place was crowded and the food looked great. Willy’s Burgers is going to give McGrady’s a run for their money with great looking burgers that are $6 cheaper.

Calisport 07-13-2022 09:58 PM

Pro shop seemed smaller than the others. Parking is going to be tough for golf carts on that end I think. Villages grown looked promising for food and the still to open meat market looks good. Too bad the vegetarian place didn't open. Would have been nice for a healthy option that the villages doesn't offer so far. The rest were pretty much junk food stalls. Bar in the middle of the place will probably block movement around the place. Kind of like placing a bar in the middle of disney main street. Trash cans will be full.

Rheimer 07-14-2022 05:27 AM

Stopped by yesterday around 4:30 and the place was busy. Was great to see. Lil Fin and the butcher shop were not open yet. Walked around and thought it was a nice change and great atmosphere. Kind of a big food court with a bar in the middle. It is a great addition to this end of the villages. The food looked good and prices were compatible to other areas. We are excited for more development like this to take place on this end of the villages. Looking forward to the canopies to be installed and the live music to start.

Other than that, how'd you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

I’ll bet ya it is bigger than the Pro Shop at Hacienda Hills!

ThirdOfFive 07-14-2022 09:25 AM

Sort of underwhelming.

Once again, the Developer screwed up. It’s good no one is moving to the Villages and buying houses like crazy.

I think the reason the Vegetarian place didn’t open is because there’s not a market for healthy foods, there is, however, a HUGE market for burgers and fries.

Is this Market at Sawgrass Grove an indoor establishment?

A cup of hot water and a tea bag is $3.55 at Fenny Grill... So, a full cookie for $3 is a discount. Lol

My wife would even give me up for a vegetarian place. :D I don't think there is one. I think the poster said DIDN'T OPEN and not ISN'T OPENED YET. The closest you'll come to that around here is the Impossible whatever fake meatlike substances sandwiches at Starbucks or Burger King! :D :D

merrymini 07-15-2022 04:41 AM

Not enough parking to service the new square, restaurant, rec center, etc. This place is not fully open but is one of the noisiest places I have ever been in.

Singerlady 07-15-2022 05:32 AM

McGrady’s bill was a $50 lunch. No alcohol, just basic food. Tried it. Will never go back. Nothing special.

Map

Is there a updated online map of all the villages and shopping areas on the villages site.

Was that for one person or two?

The pro shop is very nice. They have the customary selections available in other pro shops, albeit with the Southern Oaks logo on many items. They are pretty well stocked...even had size 13 shoes, which I have not seen in other shops recently. Very friendly staff, and Villages residents get a 10% discount.

Vegetarian place? You mean like Red Sauce in LSL? Where you simply order spaghetti and voila! It has no meat. Even better, it's vegan!! Wow!! Someone doesn't want to eat meat? Great for them! Don't expect some restaurant to cater to a fraction of the population, that's generally a poor business model. Offering some options, yes. Offering nothing but? No.

Jonigirl 07-15-2022 08:21 AM

I had a very healthy salad at the Villages Grown

I too was disappointed that the healthy restaurant was not going to open. However, I did purchase a premade all natural salad from The Villages Grown. It was delicious with fresh raw vegetables and a very light delicious dressing. They had other healthy options in the market and I will definitely try them.

LOL. ElDiablo, put that pistol back in the holster! Obviously you don't have a clue as to what a "vegetarian" lifestyle or a GOOD vegetarian meal actually is. Just eating pasta (and salads) is not vegetarian but it's something to eat when one is a true vegetarian and there are no options they can really enjoy. That's just no meat. That's pasta, calories, carbs etc. There is a major difference. Offering a salad or a bowl of spaghetti isn't an "option" it’s a total lack of an enjoyable meal for some.

I'm a meat eater, she isn't. Vegetarian is a lifestyle to many which isn't just eating pasta and no meat. There's not a single thing she makes I can even look at. :) It's grains, weird vegetables and unknown disgusting proteins (like tofu slime) and stinky sauces :) Sorry, your reply would simply be patronizing to someone who truly follows that lifestyle. "Yea, go have a dish of spaghetti and a salad while I enjoy a great steak at the finest steak restaurant" (which, by the way, definitely NOT referring to Red Sauce). How would you feel if the tables were turned and your only option at a fine restaurant was a 4oz cheezeburger and cold fries while everyone else was enjoyng a fine vegetarian meal !!

I do agree 100% as to why there are no TRUE vegetarian options around here and as NOT a vegetarian myself (back to topic) I certainly ain't paying $45 for a steak in one of these local joints. I can grill/smoke a steak or ribs that makes any of them comparable to a Wendys burger or a McRib. :D Vegetarian? NOT ME. But there are those that are.

If my only option were between a cheeseburger and fries or “grains, weird vegetables and unknown disgusting proteins (like tofu slime) and stinky sauces,” I would go for the cheeseburger - and it sounds like you would too.

I just checked my Starbucks App. A Grande (Starbucks language for large) Earl Grey is $3.25 and a Vente (Starbucks language for extra-large) Earl Grey is $3.45.

What restaurant, besides fast food places, does not offer alcohol? That, right there, should not be allowed!

They offer alcohol. I think her point was that it was $50 and she didn’t even order alcohol.

Barring fast food places, you can make any restaurant a "healthy" restaurant. Grilled chicken and salad with a vinegarette dressing and you've got a healthy meal. That is very simple and basic but there are other options. You just have to be creative.
