Noisy Block Party
Just wondering if anyone heard the noisy block party going on last night til after 1 in the morning. We live in a village about a mile south of Sumter Landing, and were kept awake with loud rap music blasting late at night. Apparently it was coming from the apartment complex near Morse and Route 466. The second week in a row this has happened. Neighbors said the police were called, but no resolution.....sleepless in Seattle.

Your south of Sumter landing and you heard it from 466? Long way for noise to travel and be so loud. One loud party apparently

I can tell you the rap music does not come from the apartment complex on 466. It is a block or two south of that apartment complex. How do I know? Hubby and I drove on the road just beyond the apartment complex and came across seven sheriff squad cars in that little church parking lot. We spoke to one of the deputies and he told us that they were "handling it". He said he had seven deputies working on it and were there where the music was coming from. He also explicitly told us (at least three times) "DO NOT GO DOWN THERE!!!". We didn't and left for home. The sheriff also had told us that all they can do is ask them to turn the volume down. As soon as they leave, the volume goes back up again. These noise pollution offenders don't respect the law and actually defy the law. They know all they get is a slap on the wrist. Believe it or not, the level of the noise ( and it is NOISE!!!!) is much worse south of LSL (Mallory Square) than it is when you are very close to it as we were last night. It is nice and peaceful this morning. |
Tell the VN news site to investigate. Right up there alley

Noise travels pretty well around these here parts. We live in the Historic District and can hear the noise from the tires on 441 and can clearly hear Mustang Sally being played at Spanish Springs. We are at least a mile inside the main gate.
We have seasonal neighbors who are regular renters who are here for a good time. Hence, we give them a few nights to get the partying out of their system and then when it's nice and bright during the day we provide them with a kind motivational speech about being a good neighbor and all the things you would say to get them to quiet down a little earlier. They are very nice people who accept a kind word and have responded reasonably for three years in a row. The fourth year is coming up next week. Let's see if their seasonal remembrance kicks in this year. They are smart. They try to diffuse the conversation with an invitation to their festivities. We decline and ask for peace on earth at 11 PM. It usually comes at about 10 PM. If this was a one or two-time disruption I would say suck it up buttercup but more than that needs either your personal eyeball-to-eyeball attention or just call the Police. they will handle it for you without the chance of the situation escalating. Good Luck to you. |
Sound always travels louder at night. When I was growing up my parents lived on a lake. Below our house (it was sort of on a hill) was a beach. Many nights teens or young adults would come and swim and sew shenanigans. This was before "air" so windows were open and sleeping residents might be bothered. Water even helps send the noise. I think back then police might have come and broken up the crowd. At least then there wasn't "rap music"!!

Florida is a Conceal, Carry state. Sometimes that doesn't come to my mind immediately. I'm also not Barney Fife. I'm also not 30 anymore. I think if they act up this year I'll let someone else handle it. The chip on my shoulder is almost gone but some Tri-State Characteristics are still with me after 6 years here. Mark me, Still Under Construction. |
I would assume since it's some kind of catering/party hall they would have to have some kind of license for the business. If it's in Lady Lake, call city hall and start complaining.
|
Second party they have had this month. It is so unbelievably loud I can’t believe it. I live in Caroline and to me it sounds like it’s coming from Cherry Lake Road. I just wish the cops would break up the party! I probably wouldn’t mind if it was good music but it’s a rap crap!

The invasion has started. Wait for more apartments

It’s a violation to have loud music for a car. Have them enforce noise ordinance. Perhaps many need to visit city hall to make this clear. Line the podium with dozens. Don’t leave until action is taken.
Police can declare an unlawful gathering and shut the nonsense down. Get a group to sue for nuisance , ask for big damage. Hit them from multiple angles relentlessly. Others have rights too, Inaction is what they crave |

So block party, place of business, or private residence? All three have been
suggested. Given the fact that a LEO can only suggest music turned down, not sure why private citizens could accomplish more. And for me CC permits are a good reason to not try to find the party. I know of 2 block parties (neighbors in villas had private party with big named band...open to all neighbors last night.. None of them near LSL.. Close to the turnpike, so guessing no one complained about the noise. Awake until 2:15a.. When things wrapped up. Seems everyone had a good time |

This story doesn't make sense to me. If the music was from an apartment building and it was loud enough to be heard a mile away, why didn't other apartment residents complain. And, why couldn't the police make an arrest? Very confusing.
|
It is surprising there are not quiet hours per the town. Most towns have a no noise 11-7 or so. Police can then do something if people don’t quiet down.
|
This is Florida home of the 3 a. m. get your 12 pack. Some towns/cities do have a 1 a.m shutdown, others it's whenever.
|
There was a golf cart guy about 75 -80 years old playing disco music at full blast driving up Morse near Havana CC. Couldn't believe what I saw. Luckily it was mobile. The police aren't doing their job if the music continues to blare at a house.

I'm pretty sure it is North of Lake Sumter, not South, lovetoswim. 466 is north.
