Xfinity
We have had Xfinity since we have lived here with pretty good success.
For past few days FOX and CBS football games are only coming thru in Spanish. I see nothing on the remote to correct this. Have been trying to get a phone number for Xfinity to find out how this has happened and how to fix this and thru their website unable to get such a number. Their virtual assistant is totally useless. Anyone have a number or any idea how to fix this? Stu |
I am GUESSING that you pressed the A, B, C, or D buttons by accident and changed to the SAP audio, try going to one of these channels and pressing the previous buttons, as I recall one of these changes the SAP audio.
|
On your Xfinity remote, click on the down arrow in the center, select SAP, and change it to English.
|
Thanks guys. That did not work though.
Someone else suggested using remote and go to settings. Thast gave me a prompt for resetting to English and that did not work. Tried resetting my TV via xfinity and unfortunately that did not work. Did find out we do not have the latest box or remote for our system. Will call tomorrow and see if we can get it and if that will work. Stu |
BTW Xfinity phone number is 888 936 4968.
Incredible had to google xfinity to get it not at all shown on their website. |
Can’t you chat with a representative in real time? They have a Business/Products chat link available on Measenger
|
On the remote, press to Xfinity button, then the settings button, then the device settings, then audio, and then audio language (SAP) reset.

No idea how long this is going on have not been watching any networks as the few shows we watch are in repeat so we just stream. Very strange, hopefully this can be simply fixed with xfinity newest box and remote. |
As it turns out, the problem revolves around football.
Once the afternoon games were over, shows were in English. Than NBC had sunday night football and NBC went from English to Spanish. Still scratching my head but hopefully this is a simple fix. |

You can go to the Comcast store on 441 across from Home Depot in the small strip mall where Starbucks is. That way you can talk to a human and they can help you and if needed, a new box or remote. They are very helpful.
|
I noticed that there is a "language" setting on the main settings menu after pressing the Xfinity button and then the "gear" using the remote.
|
Football related Spanish
I heard that everyone lost the license to show the NFL games except YouTube TV.

800-266-2278... You need to play the comcast game which is to deal with the assistant 1st. They will give you a live person if the assistant doesn't solve your problem, which it won't.
|
You’re not alone. I had the same issue. Only on CBC and NBC football games. I gave up trying to reset SAP

open a google search browser—type in xfinity call back—schedule a call back. Works well, they will call you back at the designated time. We have used this method 3 times. They told us about it at the Xfinity store on 441.

Language
Have you at least tried to use closed caption, and if so, is that in English? Just curious!
|
Are you saying that you are getting the Spanish versions of the games or are the menus in Spanish when you browse the various Xfinity options? I think some of the suggestions here are for having menus in Spanish.
There are both English and Spanish versions of games. Could you have selected the Spanish versions? I’ve made that mistake. |
I suggest you double-check the channel number you have tuned into. Xfinity has hundreds of channels and repeats of the major networks are in different languages.
|
There is a language setting. Press A on the remote and it will bring you to XFinity Help. And if you press B it will bring you to Language Choices. They are the tiny buttons surrounding the button you see that lights when you pick up the remote. Good luck.

If you want them to answer speak “retention” into the phone when they ask what you need. That was a tip from an XFinity rep. It works for me
|
There is a service center at 8130 County Rd 44 in Leesburg. Bring your old box there to switch it out and ask your questions. Better then phone support.
|
There is an Xfinity center at the corner of 441 and Rolling Acres… go in and ask them
Go to the xfinity service center at the corner of 441 and Rolling Acres and ask for help.

Personally football doesn’t need a commentator to tell you what’s going on. I wouldn’t care if it came through in Chinese. But I understand where you’re coming from, you pay good money to hear an American channel in English, so if they have to have it in Spanish & if the Spanish want to live in America they should learn English. My personal opinion I would switch to another cable company. I know your not interested in what I have but I get ALL of my favorite football team games every week, college & Pro! Good Luck getting your cable company to let you hear it in English!

Finally was connected to a very nice young lady in the Phillipenes (whose English was pretty good) and she reset our TV on their end. No idea if it will work until there is a game on tonight but keeping fingers crossed. Thanks all for your help. |
It’s a norm to have Spanish speaking for football games. They Been doing this for couple years. Yes you can find a station without what I have to do.

Still will not know until tonight to see if I can watch the game in English but got a call an automated call from Xfinity asking if our issue was resolved. Press 1 for no press 2 for no. Since I do not yet know if they fixed the problem pressed 2. It than said hold on for next available technician and by the way it will take 30 minutes for your turn. I hung up. Between no telephone number on their website and the above customer service really does not mean a lot to them. |
There are 2 different menu sections for language on both the TV and the cable box.
One setting is for the language for the menu prompts. Other setting is for the audio that you hear. That is the SAP (separate audio program) which is not there on most broadcasts. That is the setting you need to find. You have it set to spanish, but will provide english is the SAP is not being included on that channel's program. The other possibility is that you are on a channel that has no SAP feed, but that functionality is happening at the source. Find the same program on another channel of that same station. |

The latest as I pull my hair out.
To avoid commercials taped the game and when I realized it was taped on ESPN which I was watching in English decided to see what was going on on ABC. That was in Spanish for some reason. OK tried some of the other suggestions and no change. Than it occurs to me what is going on with our other TV which has no box and is controlled by our living room TV box. On our second TV I can watch in English. No idea why this should be but tomorrow time to have another conversation with xfinity. |
Wonderful, Comcast
