Costco fact!

Not a rumor, but FACT! COSTCO is coming to The Villages in 2025. A person in Corporate told me that a few weeks ago and a manager at the Altamonte store told me yesterday that Clermont store opens in November. Daytona Beach opens in 2024 and The Villages in 2025. Not a rumor. Fact!

RICH1 09-18-2023 06:56 AM

Should a retiree buy in bulk?

I'm retired and may be in my twilight years but I'm pretty sure I'll go through another 48 pack of toilet paper before I'm gone. (or granola bars, chicken breasts, printer ink, aluminum foil, dishwasher detergent, vitamins, cheese, etc, etc, etc)

Travel to any big box, M-F, near TV, every morning you will find 70% of clientele over age of 50 shopping, plus sitting in the gas station, getting $5 worth of gas. To your answer yes they buy whatever they choose with their money, bulk, TVs, computers, health needs. Have you ever seen a empty Costco parking lot, unless they are closed

If you have room to store it, why not? Bulk is almost always cheaper and prices are still rising on a lot of things.

Chi-Town 09-18-2023 07:22 AM

Take a look around the growth abutting The Villages (and Middleton). Those are Costco customers.

Yep. And my barber's girlfriend's former mother-in-law's dog walker's mailman told me the same thing :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Yet another COSTCO rumor thread. FACT.

So my $600 dyson stopped working. While buying a new one cashier asked if it was our first pet dyson? Told him our 3yo that we bought from Costco died.

Told us bring it back next time, we will refund you no box needed, as long as you have all the accessories. Returned with zero problems, full refund, that why people shop at Costco, customer service.

Stu from NYC 09-18-2023 08:09 AM

Been saying it was coming for years.

While I am the one who is accused of "nitpicking" and "parsing", I appear to be one of the few posters able to detect humor...I expected people to build on your humor but no, they wanted to argue with your question.

and your post was funny. thanks

pacjag 09-18-2023 08:21 AM

It isn’t a “fact” until the store is built and open. It is strictly a rumor until you see it published by Costco.

Keefelane66 09-18-2023 08:26 AM

Could care less if Costco comes or not we enjoy the field trips out of the “bubble” to Orlando

Babubhat 09-18-2023 08:26 AM

It’s a rumor until they file for permits. Don’t see it happening, Clermont is too close. Near new Bucees in Ocala would make more sense. No location in Gainesville. Two destinations that drive big volume of traffic right off 75.

Clermont, FL
Opening Tuesday November 14, 2023

If you google "Costco Clermont" you will indeed see an official Costco post announcing that store opening November 14. Closer for those of us in the southern areas, so we will be joining. Only a little difference in time than getting to BJ's or Sam's up by Spanish Springs. Fine once a month jaunt.

If they build one closer eventually, great. But until I see it on their website, it's just speculation.

No, they actually are putting one in Spanish Springs, one in LSL, Brownwood and Middleton. 4 in total

You can buy in bulk from your golf carts.

Stu from NYC 09-18-2023 11:23 AM

Can we also buy the cart there?

coralway 09-18-2023 12:03 PM

A great stock to own

In Ocala, it's $42k so not a very good chance of seeing a Costco open up there. Gainesville maybe as their average household income is just under $70k.

Like the “uh-oh, I’m gonna say it, the dog poop threads”. Funny, that thread has died lately. 🤔

A retiree can still stock up on high quality but well priced toilet paper, kleenex and paper towels. If you're at the point that you don't think you'll ever go through it, you probably shouldn't buy unripe bananas either then.

LOL I'll be joining for the meat. Costco generally has whole briskets, and 3 packs of ribs for great prices. When I get the smoker going, everyone in the neighborhood will make sure that food is gone before they need to worry about the grim reaper.

Rwirish 09-19-2023 04:54 AM

Let’s hope not. Something else we don’t need- a Costco.

msilagy 09-19-2023 05:26 AM

Do you think what the villagers buy will fit in the top seat of the cart?.........not a good business decision for Costco to come to TV. Just my opinion. But then again they may be privy to how much business Sam's does and that could influence their decision. It's a wait and see game.

If Costco thinks they can make money here they will cone and from all indications in a few years they will be here.

Middleton will/is having a significant impact on the dynamic in the southern end. You already see many more under 55 and school age in the local stores and restaurants.

Off topic rant - Not sure traffic getting kids to and from school was well thought out. It's crazy - mixed up with construction traffic and is bumper to bumper horrible for a couple of hours on 301, 470 and MBT morning/afternoon.

There's these things called school busses that would help.

Chamo 09-19-2023 06:12 AM

If they told you several weeks ago, why did you wait so long to post this? Apparently it must not be true.

Electronics: Costco will accept returns within 90 days (from the date the member received the merchandise) for Televisions, Projectors, Major Appliances (refrigerators above 10 cu. ft., freezers, ranges, cooktops, over-the-range microwaves, range hoods, dishwashers, water heaters, washers and dryers), Computers, Touchscreen Tablets, Smart Watches, Cameras, Aerial Cameras (drones), Camcorders, MP3 players and Cellular Phones (return details will vary by carrier service contract).

Do you really believe they would build one in Clermont and another one in The Villages?

Berwin 09-19-2023 06:49 AM

Great news. My wife got hearing aids at our Costco where we used to live. They maintain them for free. The one time they needed service since we moved down here, we stopped at the Costco on the way to Tampa to visit friends.

Gotta figure that there must be a market if BJ opened a store here. I’d say COSTCO will as well given increase in population and slowly changing demographics of this area. Not just the Villages but closely surrounding areas. I’d say probably in the southern area of the villages
