Eastport, Moultrie Creek Update

Eastport Area Booklet Moultrie Creek

Let's Get Together!

Eastport, our newest town center, brings everything we love about The Villages lifestyle together in one location. In this 250 acre area you'll find recreation, golf, trails, parks, and shopping and dining experiences all connected through a network of trails and pathways surrounding a 1000m body of water, Central Lake.

EASTPORT DOWNTOWN
Eastport's inspiration has a hint of European influence with quaint shops and buildings scaled down to create intimate settings. Stroll through a brick-paved alley or muse lined with boutiques and unique experiences.

Here you'll explore a variety of entertainment, shopping and dining options along the waterfront.

OLYMPIA RECREATION
Chances are you'll find your favorite activities in this amazing recreation center with almost everything you can imagine, including an indoor gymnasium, and rock-climbing center. Outside, the options for play expand from grassy fields to the courts, and even activities on the water.

GOLF GALORE

Golf in the Eastport Area includes the 9-hole Bellaire Executive Course along with the Central Lake Teaching Academy and Driving Range. Here you can play nine holes, hit a bucket of balls or take a lesson.

Chi-Town 10-18-2023 09:18 AM

The Eastport area looks to be an exciting chapter in The Villages play book. Glad it's coming to fruition.

I wish there were multi moto paths in the south. Seems they’ve been abandoned to save $$ at the risk of lives

Not sure what you mean. Just about everywhere I go via golf cart is on a MMP and I live in the south.

Yeah, but you're on the multi-modal path. Perhaps the lament is over the lack of (yama)moto, (Manny)moto or (quasi)moto paths. :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: Even better---a first post, might as well start the developer bashing early, for a perceived lack of something that he doesn't even know the name of.

The MMP's are clearly shown on the map in the link so no problem there.

I am not excited about a restaurant with an extensive hot dog menu. Call me snooty, but it is what it is! I gave up eating processed meat, years ago.

As we all know, the rec center will be the same layout as the others. The decor will be a theme throughout imitating the rec centers that were built before. The golf courses will be fairly the same, as well. I am looking forward to the inside gymnasium but my common sense tells me it will always be crowded. I was hoping the restaurants and stores will be different and exciting. So far, I have no interest. Hot Dogs? Really? I am certain my wife will not appreciate a date night that includes a Tom Brady Dog, Wrigley Fries, and an Arnold Palmer to wash them down. Even Taylor Swift appearing on the big screen will not convince her to go.

shaw8700@outlook.com 10-18-2023 08:57 PM

Oh a sports bar! That’s different! Not.

Whatever happened to making good, clean, homemade food? Why not let that be your calling card and save money on all those (unwanted) televisions.

I'm just being honest. You can get processed food at any fast food chain. A restaurant that serves quality meals is something we need in this area. It would be great to have one or two close instead of having to drive 15 to 30 minutes. I am hoping between the new country clubs and square, this will happen. Not asking for much! Just one or two!

I guess you do not go down Meggison past Sawgrass or on Marsh Bend Trail past Magnolia Plaza.

Business build what most customers want.

If you want to be within 15 min of boutique restaurants, you moved to the wrong place.

Sawgrass and Edna's had the same kinds of I'm smarter than the Developer " posts prior to opening but ate now a booming success.

A sports bar within walking distance of Middleton and multiple golf courses will be a gold mine.

Fair enough.

Check out “Harry and The Natives”. They have a restaurant in Hobe Sound that has operated since the early ‘40’s. They will open their second restaurant in ‘24 near the Okahumpka rec center in the St. John Village. It looks to be unique and different than other options in The Villages.

I have to agree. I go to Orlando or even Leesburg. There’s literally not one place I like as far as restaurants go. I’ve eaten at nearly every place and there’s not one thing, food or drink that would bring me back to any of them. Don’t get me wrong. I think this place is amazing in all it does, except for the restaurant choices. Having said that, TV only runs a few of them. IMO, Sawgrass missed the mark. Food courts were a fad and TV got in way too late.

Why would you think there aren’t MMP’s? We have paths to everywhere.

Rwirish 10-19-2023 05:17 AM

Golf galore is a stretch. An executive course, how about 5-6 more. And the Championship Courses, a bit late coming to the south.

We drive our cart just outside of Brownwood to the SUNNY PINT! There is awesome food and beer, beer, beer! It’s a whole lot better than some inside the bubble places with much better prices.

Well legally, you could just park legally in the far west end of the lot next to the Hilton, Wolfgang, Healthcare lot and walk over about 35 yds give or take. There is a more direct route for those willing to explore. You will see carts there frequently.

No curb or barrier to jump?

MrLonzo 10-19-2023 06:35 AM

Hopefully, there will be a decent grocery store in the south, finally?!!? Like a Walmart neighborhood store? (Publix has priced itself out of everyday shopping for many.)

And maybe a big box or discount store? It's a haul to get up to Sam's, BJ's, Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart in the north very often. Not to mention all the furniture stores north of Lady Lake. We need better shopping infrastructure here in the south, not just more recreation facilities!

Travelhunter123 10-19-2023 06:36 AM

When will the Eastport rec center open

I guess you don’t go anywhere west of Buena Vista Blvd, east of Morse Blvd, or between these two Blvds, because there are no MMPs in those areas.

Nevinator 10-19-2023 06:38 AM

Sports Bar? Absolutely! One of my favorite venues. For me, I am pretty much a sports junkie. I like the excitement, meeting like-minded people and discussing sports in general. As far as the menu goes, based on prior experiences at various venues, menus always tend to evolve over time based on what sells and what doesn’t. I don’t see any negatives here. I’m in!

You will get that but apparently not until population density increases over next few years.

Thought that was going to happen and that is why we parked ourselves in the middle of the villages.

You must have missed the mark too. There will be 3-4 new Championship courses and 6 Executive courses on that side of the turnpike

That end of the lot has a wall, but one can walk down the drive to the sidewalks that many thought went to nowhere.

In Sunny Pint you will find many employees of the medical center and hotel, having lunch, and after work drinks. They don’t drive, just walk over.

I get what you are saying and I'm sure $$ is a factor. Tons of diamond lanes in southern area of Sawgrass and on.

The days of nature joy ride style multimodal paths for golf carts like up north of Warm Springs Road area as seen on Gold Wingnut's maps seem to be void now. Sure lots of walking paths but as far as I can see on the map key "blue" lines either hug the main roads or disappear into diamond lanes.

Not my kind of joy ride in a cart like waaaay up north or the Marsh Bend Trail path. Diamond lanes are dangerous but who would agree with that on totv where its all about picking at others.

"They don't build 'em like they used to."

BobGraves 10-19-2023 06:47 AM

Same up north.

Isn't it the same on Morse north of 466 as well as almost ALL east/west routes eg; Hillsborough Trail, Pinellas, Bonita, Odell?
All of Meggison (which is practically the extension of Buena Vista) has a mmp until Bexley and then Bexley has mmp and it appears the mmp will continue all the way down to Central Parkway. The Morse mmp continues over Chitty Chatty bridge and all the way to the end of Morse at Meggison. I'm thinking you took a shot and missed on this one.

I said just about everywhere I go. He inferred there were none. The roads you mention are no different than any of the cross connectors such as Hillsborough, Odell, Bonita, etc.

Justputt 10-19-2023 07:15 AM

As someone who is in Dabney, it's a run to get up to Sawgrass to cross the turnpike MMP and then further to get to Eastport. I had hoped they'd do something with 470, but 470 is the on/off ramp to the turnpike, so that'll never happen. There's an underpass a little south at 48, but nothing on the other side and not really any closer or quicker to Eastport. I guess we're just going to have to go the old fashion way in a car, lol. I've had to do worse.

That was one of the deciding factors building in Enclave, car could be best transportation. Biggest factor That Enclave wasn’t a premier neighborhood, that everyone has built in the past

Not necessarily

The other side of 470 is owned by the Villages. The land won’t just sit there. Don’t forget they have plans to develop all the way southeast to Honeycutt Lake. The main issue will be Lake County laws which prohibit roundabouts. There won’t be another Central Parkway. Crossing 470 at this point by cart would require an act of congress. There’s no inkling of Lake County caving to a reroute like Sumter County caved to. Leesburg and the surrounding communities want nothing to do with more development. They are a lot like Marion. The Villages won’t ever run their government with a majority. If it became connected great; but right now it looks to be more like Oxford.

Hot dogs? Oh bummer! When my I told my pups there was going to be an extensive dog menu they were jumping up and down at the thought of the first restaurant for them to dine at.

We have had some great experiences outside the bubble in Inverness, Clermont, Mount Dora, Homosassa, Wesley Chapel and others. We would probably ditch most possibilities inside the bubble if they are anything like McGradys.

The Villages indirectly contributed to the extensive choices most down here are experiencing because there weren’t any choices inside the bubble except for Brownwood and Sawgrass.
