Try Glenview on Monday nights for all you can eat steak and shrimp. Make reservations.

ohioshooter 11-21-2023 10:04 AM

Is there a Villages carnivore group? Thinking of starting the diet after the first.

Just remember that you are not moving here for the restaurant offerings, in any way shape or form. Just to set your expectations to the correct level.

and if you are going to be here for three months, you will get through most if not all of the better locations in the first month.

good luck!

Almost every restaurant has some kind of meat, just like everywhere in the US

Vegetarian only restaurants would be tough to find, but meat - easy
Just tell the server to hold the sides.

MrChip72 11-21-2023 09:11 PM

Artman's Smokehouse just outside the Villages in the North end. Their meat platter has very generous portions of a variety of different meats of your choosing.

In the south end, Willie Jewels has great smokehouse meat options as well.

ColtsFan 11-22-2023 04:24 AM

Try Oakwood Smokehouse and Grill----the one on South 441 Lady Lake, FL. It is real close to The Villages. Great BBQ, hamburgers, chicken, etc.

jacqueline larsen 11-22-2023 04:38 AM

The above plus Golden Corral on 466
(A step above most of them), Cracker Barrell Sunday fried chicken every day now. Oakwood express in Wildwood.

Trying to get a group started in The Villages. On the Nextdoor app we’ve started a group and hope to have more members and their input. When we see enough interest we can get together for MEAT UPS! In the meantime we can share our experiences! We’ve been carnivore for over 3 months and have seen many good changes in our health. Check out the group “The Villages Carnivore Meat Up”. We look forward to meeting you.

I have been low carb/high protein/saturated fat for 25 years and still at my college weight...Now I no longer eat any plants sans coffee and macadamia nuts. Plants will kill you, man.

Just avoid any unsaturated fat plant oils cuz they are worse for you than carbohydrates. Almost all restaurants use plant oil (canola/soy/vegetable/peanut) for cooking.

KjLjGooding 11-22-2023 04:51 AM

Welcome Carnivore!

We eat carnivore as well. It’s difficult to find Restaurants that cater to carnivore. Yes they have steaks and meat but the question is “what are they cooked in”? Therefore most of the time we eat at home. Check out our group that is just starting on the Nextdoor app The Villages Carnivore Meat Up. Hopefully we can all get together and share the changes in our lives and health, or get together for cookouts to cook those rib eyes and socialize.

If you’re coming from a state that has corn fed cows and great beef, you’ll need to lower your expectations. Florida cows graze on sandy soil grass. They don’t have the heft of northern cows, they are scrawny.
And that’s everywhere you eat in Florida, not just The Villages.
You’ll note that a lot of the comment so far are recommending rib joints.
I’ve been here 14 years. I don’t bother ordering steaks, I just wait until I’m up north.
Here’s my Dads advice. When you go in a new restaurant, order the special. That’s what they do best. Or ask the waiter for a recommendation.
You will find some restaurants you like.

Is this only on NextDoor? I’m on Facebook, but not ND. Hoping for a FB group.

Orlando Dr Phillips area an hour away. Multiple premium steakhouses on Sand Lake road. Eddie V, capital grille, Ruth Chris, etc.

I didn’t know the “carnivore diet” was a thing, so I googled it and it is indeed! I am familiar with the Atkins diet, which has an emphasis on meat. Thing to watch out for is high saturated fat and cholesterol, but everyone knows that. Diet also includes chicken, so that can round out the red meat.

I personally enjoy meat. Anyway, there are some very good recommendations on where to eat here. Enjoy your stay!

Can second the motion for Artman's on 42. The best restaurant in the area is supposed to be Mark's Prime Steakhouse in Ocala but I haven't tried it yet.

damvillages 11-22-2023 06:27 AM

Try Ipanema Brazilian steakhouse in Ocala. Will not disappoint.

BobGraves 11-22-2023 06:38 AM

Glad to hear about The Villages Carnivore Meat Up

I've been doing carnivore for about 3 weeks. I've lost 10 lbs and feel great. We're up north for the holidays but I too was hoping for a Carnivore group in The Villages. We're part timers so it would be tough to start one but I'm willing to help out when we're there.

I couldn't find the group on nextdoor. I tried spelling Meat both ways (meet)? Idk if it's possible to share a link or any other info that would help.

True, but it’s very expensive and very difficult to get a reservation. As I recall, you have to do it at midnight two months in advance. When I ate there, the meal was extraordinary, but it was also $750 for two. (Granted, the four teaspoons of caviar was almost $200 of that.)

Thanks for the reply, but I don’t do ND or FB. I guess I’ll just keep watching posts. Looking forward to more videos from Rusty.

Is that a thing? You only eat meat? No cheese? No vegetables? I know it will make your HDL cholesterol go up, but doesn’t it put your kidneys at risk? Isn’t it boring? No more cookies or sandwiches?

Or do you mean you eat carnivores? There are places serving alligator, but usually it is breaded, then fried in vegetable oil, so that wouldn’t be on your diet.

Yes for thouse doing the highly acidic diet (LOL) there is a brazilian steak house in Ocala called Impanema. Around here... well... like one post said don't expect much for food..... it's eh at best "in the bubble" (and before y'all go nuts telling me I'm wrong, just stop. I've got a restaurant background and my taste buds aren't old either)

yes it's a version of Keto, it's meats aka proteins only it doesn't make the HDL go up at all, actually it eats it away. However it's highly acidic and if not balanced out (depending on blood type and physical nature since every person is different) it can take your blood Ph from Alkaline to Acidic which then stops the natural workings of the body and could cause some seriously bad things to happen. Teeth come to mind as saliva is alkaline, and turning it acidic means you are going to have a lot of dental visits and more

For all of you carnivores, here are some fancy restaurant specials to try:

* The All-You-Can-Eat Cardiac Arrest
* The EMT Bone-In Special
* Coronary Clogger Delight
* The Elevated Blood-Pressure Plate
* special desert: Statin Enhanced Ice Cream Pie

(sorry, this was all done in good humor (sort of). BTW, any idea why we evolved with flat teeth instead of canine teeth?

MikeN 11-22-2023 08:16 AM

Meat lovers

Try Oak Wood. It’s outside the villages on rat 441/27 but well worth the price and visit. Barbecue is there specialty QUOTE=SteveCanada;2276285]Great info on this site .. thanks to all who share !

You don't have a clue about FL beef and how they are raised and feed. Go spend some time on a cattle ranch and find out how wrong you are.

Too Jays

Too Jays has Liver on the menu. Ask them to hold the mashed potatoes

BostonRich 11-22-2023 10:17 AM

County Line Smokehouse

We go to County Line Smokehouse on 25 in Weirsdale for BBQ. Not fancy but the best BBQ around. Everything is made from scratch in-house. They don't even have a fryer. Brisket and ribs are excellent. Pulled pork is also great.

SusanStCatherine 11-22-2023 10:26 AM

I want to try the Lion diet.

As long as they allow ketchup at the table(I'am in) still for the life of me can't see the difference between ketchup and 57 steak sauce(which is recommended). I was littery kicked out of one of the most famous steak houses(Murrays) in MN for asking for ketchup for their dried up silver butter knife special. Plus they made me wear one of their sportcoats that they provide(what a joke). I live in Panama City and have been to Rodeo's/Angelo's Steak pit and Triple JJJs. Any of those places would make you throw rocks at Murray's in Mpls MN. I also was served while wearing shorts and a muscle shirt,and they had no problem with me asking for Ketchup!

Actually, we’re omnivores. And we do have canines.
