Loofahs

What is the true story about the loofahs on cars? Surely those people can't be living "the lifestyle" if you know what I mean.

Foxtrot 12-18-2023 04:49 PM

Old wives tale. Take it with a grain of salt.

Have no idea what you mean. The story, as I understand it, is that some folks put tennis balls or loofah on their antenna to help them find their car in parking lots. Some conspiracy nut started a myth about alternative lifestyles based on what was on the antenna, aaaannnddd here we are. It's all a bunch of baloney, but it has made some interesting reading (all fiction, imHo)

Remember the antenna charters Disney made. We have an evil Queen. That equates to one or all of the descriptions below.

Loves Disney
Evils are Misunderstood
Beware Evil is in this car.
Custom Poison Apples available for Parties

Perhaps I have made a mistake and am flying under false colors, I found a pink dayglo tennis ball, added a marker smiley face, stuck it on the roof antenna to help me locate my old Honda in large parking lots , nothing else ?? am I sending an unintended signal, the more HIP can better inform me

MrFlorida 12-19-2023 08:51 AM

I have had several on my roof at times, so far, nobody has followed me home.....

Topspinmo 12-19-2023 09:31 AM

Am I the only one who don’t pay attention to stuff like this?

No, your not. Buuut, then again, here you are?!?

Velvet 12-19-2023 10:42 AM

Wouldn’t it be easier (for those of us who are naive) just put a sign on the cart, car, yourself, “I’m available”?

Marathon Man 12-19-2023 10:57 AM

I'm still waiting for someone to explain why they believe that a loofa on top of your car in the middle of the parking lot does anything when you are standing in the middle of the entertainment square.

It's a sign that they are part of a swinger sex club.

Is the club just for males and females or for any of the other 47 sexes I have heard about?

I love when I tell people I own a home in the Villages. Seems to be what most people know about it. Always makes for a great conversation if nothing else.

People want to tell you that The Villages has the highest STD rate on Planet Earth. They look at you like you never heard that before. I don't argue I just say it's not that bad I've only had the clap twice since I moved here. Well, crabs once, does that count? :D

It seems like it’s the only thing they know about the Villages! Then I ask they if they want to come down and fool around! lol. Almost all say “no thanks” Although one guy surprised me and asked for my address ! I told him that when he came down we can talk about him getting better Medicare supplement insurance. He tore up my address! Thank you God!

For the other designations, I’m sure they will come up with a color. We would not want anyone to miss out.

If you are too discreet to ride around with a loofah on your car, but still want some action. Then go to City Fire on Saturday night.

jayteadunn 12-20-2023 08:38 AM

Saw my first one Saturday at Brownwood

Too many cars look alike these days and white is a popular color in Florida, so loofas help you find your car.

lawgolfer 12-20-2023 09:07 AM

Every few months a feature writer, blogger, etc. comes to The Villages to write a story about the world's largest retirement community. Invariably, they end up at the City Fire at Lake Sumter and "interview" some of the patrons drinking their afternoon beers at the outside bar. The discussion always turns to the stories the writer has heard about the sexual mores of TV's residents. The "good ole boys" set down their beers and spin a tall tale for the writer. The one about loofahs is the latest in a long string. The writers know that they are being "put on", but need the story in order to get their article published. It seems that their editors require a discussion about the sexual mores of seniors before they will publish an article about The Villages.

I think it's great. I never explain, except to immediate family whose opinions matter to me. Otherwise, the more that think that, the fewer that come down and crowd everything up. Kinda slowing the migration, if you will.

Slowing the migration? Or just changing the appeal to a different demographic.

Loofas was so yesterday's news.
NOW...its all about shoe and sandal colors, shirt tags in or out, belts, hats and hair pins.
COME ON PEOPLE!!!! IT'S TIME TO BE SINGLE AND READY TO MINGLE!!!!:loco::crap2:

Barborv 12-20-2023 11:18 AM

I can't even tell you how many people would make those comments. I explain the STD story. Years ago a female gynecologist did a report that the Villages had a high number of STDs. Her article was later retracted. You can't make that statement without doing the math. The number of people living in TV was probably at that time 50 % higher than all other retirement communities. The loofah stories , i doubt it very much. I even asked on another occassion on here that if there is any truth to it please inform. Inquisitive minds want to know! I also know about the collar up on men, gold shoes on the town square for women, etc. Well, all I have to say is that I'm very insulted because no one has ever approached me and I have worn several gold shoes, before I knew the gold shoe story. A friend back home as a joke bought me two orange loofas. He had seen the chart of what the colors mean. He asked what does orange mean and I told him, it will mean STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!!! LOLOLOL

If I attach a Brillo pad instead of a loofah, would that mean I'm into S&M?

Both, but the other 47 can be identified by their pastel coloration.
