Non golfers paying for course repairs.
Michael writes that he does not play golf, therefore he resents amenities paying for golf course repairs. Well…… using his logic why should I pay for :
1) all the rec centers I don’t visit 2) the pickle ball courts I don’t play 3) the tennis courts I don’t use 4) the employees working at the squares at night that I don’t attend 5) swimming pools I don’t play in. 6) and on and on….. |
Your saying exactly what I was thinking.

"logic".............Where??? Not seeing any.
|
I’ve been here off and on for 20 something years , I don’t golf or use the pools and hardly ever go to the rec centers , but I do love the flowers and the well kept up outdoor spaces and for the most part the up keep of everyone’s home . The greatness of this community is the sum of all its parts therefore keeping up the property values and making it a desirable place to live

Its a golf community...a component used in sales. If you didnt want that or the upkeep to maintain it and the curb appeal, that's on you |
IMO reason golf courses are in condition there in maintenance malpractice. Upper management heads should be fired. What’s say they won’t screw it up second or third time. IMO Somebody needs to accountable for millions each year with result that goes down hill every year.
|
The greens at Pimlico are a great example. Except for the first hole. They have been patched. But no one has bothered to water the new patches so it’s brown and drying. Exactly as it would in your lawn if you did not water it.
|
Disagree
Thousands of homes are where, on Villages golf courses. The whole real estate market here would implode overnight if the courses weren’t taken care of. All houses would decrease in value without the courses.

Ever hear the line, "No man is an island"? No one would have anything if we didn't share the load. A society, a civilization is made up of many who share the workload, the cost of producing and providing benefits for all. If "Michael " doesn't want to share the cost of being part of the community, society, or civilization, he is welcome to drop out and live in a cave, hunt or gather his own food, make his own clothes, and be his own doctor when he becomes ill or injured. Problem is, where can he go to not be on some country's land where he can live his solitary troglodite existence? Antarctica? And how can he get there totally on his own?

What are the yearly amounts of money being spent is general terms?
Total $ of all amenity fees yearly, for $ collected monthly Total $ of all maintenance fees on tax bills Total $ collected as "rent" when groups want to use facilities. Total $ collected from any fee based activity Total $ spent on Golf courses, flowers, rec centers, gate systems, community watch, pools, tennis and pickle ball courts, cutting grass in public areas, rec attendants in the squares, district operations, management costs, contracted expenses (and what for), etc |

Then look for SLCDD and VCCDD which is where the amenity dollars are collected and spent. Also, the process has begun for building the budget for next year. Workshop times are available either in the District Weekly Bulletin, the Agenda links for each of the Districts, or by calling Customer Service. Attending these might provide many of the numbers you are looking for. |

I shouldn’t therefore pay for anything I don’t use! Sure makes a lot of sense - not!
|
Agree … it’s known when you buy-in to the community.

Let’s not forget I don’t go Ukraine I don’t go California Expressway I don’t get $10,000 debit cards I don’t have children, but I pay school taxes

Some people are never satisfied. This was always primarily a golf community…free golf for life. |
The amenities for me are living in a nice community that has all these options that I can choose to join or not at any time. Flowers are nice, grass is green (except on the golf courses :-P), sidewalks maintained, etc. Compared to many HOAs (which technically this isn't), our fee is a bargain.

Amenities
Yours is not to question why...............yours is to do or not........its a choice
as Spock would say.........OP is highly illogical!!!!!!!!!:jester: Quote:

I'm a non-golfer, other than going to the gym I don't use any of the activities available.
But I do not mind paying for the upkeep, my belief is these activities is one of the main attractions for people to want to live here. This keeping the price of homes here at a higher value. |

This complaint about paying for golf courses when I don't play golf, reminds me of the old complaint when I lived up North many moons ago. "Why should I pay school taxes when I don't have any kids in school?" Dumb!

I often wonder when people go through sales presentations, tours, walk through, purchase, closing etc.....do they do so with blinders....and ear phones on? It’s like they wake up the first day and say, where did all those rolling hills and fairways come from, and more importantly, glad I’m not paying for the upkeep! Smh |

I’m pretty sure if you’re living in villages you’re paying for it. |
One thing that bothers me is these “flame throwers” have no idea of how our local systems of government works. The CDDs vs the AAC/PWAC, etc. They blame “the developer” when they very little to do with the matter. Learn how The Villages works then direct your angst and anger to the proper person, place or thing.
