Birthers vs. Truthers: Conspiracy Theory Double Standard
In what continues to provide me with much glee, The outraged Democrats who can't believe that a duly elected President would face the disrespect of people who question his veracity about his birthplace as it concerns his qualification to be President.
These are the exact same people who hated, hated, hated GW Bush and wished him dead, or at least impeached or tried for war crimes, on a daily basis. The NY Times conducted a poll in 2006 that showed that MORE THAN HALF OF DEMOCRATS believed that former President Bush was complicit in the World Trade Center attacks. It discreetly decided not too run to far with this story. It generously described these "patriotically inclined" Democrats thusly; “Some participants see an American tradition of questioning concentrated power.” The Times has referenced this study just once, fleetingly, in a story about "conspiracy theorists" not once mentioning Democrats and Bush-Haters as the chief advocates. "Obama is our President; just get over it!!"; yeah Okay, just like you did a few short years ago. http://www.mrc.org/timeswatch/articl...426104737.aspx |

"How likely is it that people in the federal government either assisted in the 9/11 attacks or took no action to stop the attacks because they wanted the United States to go to war in the Middle East?" the poll asked. A full 22.6% of Democrats said it was "very likely." Another 28.2% called it "somewhat likely. I see no mention of GW Bush directly in that question. This poll is more a reflection on the Iraq war than on the 9/11 attacks. All the lies the administration spread a justification for the war. However, yes I did know one Democrat in my circle that fully believed in this theory. Also your reference didn't mention any of this..... http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/wei...r-polling.aspx Nor of this.... http://realclearpolitics.blogs.time....ruther-denial/ And as this reference points out....How many of those responded are correctly identifying that GW Bush was briefed about a possible attack when at his ranch? And for the record....No truther here!!!! |

I never once heard anyone calling for Liberals to be more respectful of GW Bush, ever. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. When I see Liberals beings respectful, say to Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Newt Gringrich, etc., etc., maybe (maybe) I will start being a little more respectful to this progressive, socialist, anti-American greatness President. I know my style, when it comes to this subject, is not popular with Liberals, and not popular with Republicans who just want to get along now so that we talk about the important issues. But, I won't be deterred in any forum, written or verbal, in letting Liberals off the hook for their onerous and deplorable conduct when it came to the former President. A disrespect and hatred that continues to this very day. So I will continue to convey similar respect for this President as Liberals give the former. I still think I'm more respectful, actually, because unlike liberals I'll never call for the death of this President. |
A Good Thing??

If anyone sees any value in continuing "slapping one another in the face", I'd surely like to hear the affirmative argument. |

I'm totally involved with the current state of the nation and speak to issues that concern me whenever motivated to. But I'll never let Liberals off the hook especially when it comes to this subject, even if it draws the ire of Moderates who'd like a more "civilized" debate. I won't play into the hands of Liberals who only hold "the bible" when it suits them. |
At some point we the people will wake up and set aside the need for R or D microscopic minutia picking and focus on what is happening to America as a result of not focusing on the issue(s) before us.
Just remember in the future equivilent of our pasts breadlines, there will be no requirement to validate whether one has an R or D after their name. Ours will hit home when the financial crisis affects each personally. As the coming energy crisis affects each of our lives. Yes even here in TV bubble we will suffer as well or more because we are so dependent on the money being there....the fuel being there....the groceries/water/etc being there. If you have been here when there is the threat of a hurricane you know what I mean by panic clearing of the retailers shelves. And that is for a temporary incident. What will the demeanor here be when there is no known solution or visible end to the crisis. None of the above will matter whether one has a D or an R. And there are some of us who will not have to worry about the above as most of us will be moving on to a better place. But our children and grand children and their kin will definitely have these terrible experiences to deal with. Aren't we lucky for now anyway, that most of what we do in our lives every single day doesn't require for us to know or care whether there is an R or a D after ones name. Maybe we can hope for the lessor of the future crises to occur first to aid in waking us up!!! btk |
Yes, Bush should express shame for that sneer he always had on his face. Bush said he did not care about polls on the negative ratings that were given him. Do you realize that Bush had an approval rating lower than Jimmy Carter when he left office?
In fact, President Obama has an approval rating HIGHER than your hero (and B film actor) Ronnie Reagan for the same point and time in office. 43% vs 42%. |
Did not. Did too. You did it first. Did not. Did too.

Great answer, Nitakk. 100% true, too.

Has anybody seen this.
The tech is quite revealing. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNJfdKClbH4[/ame] What difference does it make? Well for one, everything he has done to this country can be undone. Also, Libs, please explain to me, why this president has spent millions of dollars, and had a team of lawyers, working to NOT release his Birth Certificate....Not a Certificate of Live Birth. Is he that big of a fool, or does he think that the American people are that big of fools. Just asking. |

Ran across an article the other day. Google natural born citizen vs native born citizen. It was written by a "suppostedly" constitution expert. Interesting reading.
|
nitakk--- I would love to have had Cheney as President. In my mind he would have been a stronger leader.

The former president is was and always will be a disgrace from the day he started campaigning. Anyone remember when he ran on being a Washington outsider (laughable in itself) and then filled his cabinent with leftovers from daddy's administration? Or when he could not think ONE thing that he did wrong while in office? His position on stem cell research put us back nearly a decade...and don't start with the few strands that were available....I know science. And I still believe he went after Iraq because Saddam had had a hit on his daddy because of the Gulf War.
My all time favorite though, was his insistence that changing your mind is a sign of weakness. NO, it is a sign of being able to process information and learn. My second favorite was when he said he had a MANDATE after the second election when he won by what, 2%. Right, that is some mandate. I am NOT repeat NOT an Obama supporter. I told hubby when he gave a speech at the convention that he would be president some day. But this was not his time. He has no experience and it shows. His whole thing about not knowing his minister was a racist was a joke. This is the first and last political post I will ever make, but I just could not pass this one up. RichieLion, I respect your right to your opinion and if we ever meet, we would probably like each other. |
You mean the President

How about just a discussion of are you better off today than a year ago? Than 2 years ago?
If yes and it is because of who (ever) is POTUS, please provide the details that made it so. When Kennedy said we will go into space and here is what we will do to make it happen. We did just that. He took a leadership position and made things happen. We all as individuals and as a nation are/were better off as a result. Now how about a discussion of why we are involved militarily with no end in sight in three locations in the mid east with no exit plan. Deficit soaring with out of control spending with no plan in place to do other wise. Dependent upon foreign oil (still) with not only no plan but increasingly reducing American production. Forget the past and forget the R or the D...what is being done to assure your life is better tomorrow and our nation stronger than it was yesterday!! This forum totally and completely lacks a two way dialogue about what is either being done or will be done to solve our CURRENT problems. Always a continual deterioration to a non value adding discussion of who did or did not do what in the past based on the ever present yard stick of D or R. I for one have no use for the fire fighter method of management that waits until the heat of the flames can be felt to decide whether to do something....or not. Using the premise of lead, follow or get out of the way we have by default gravitated to the latter. Regardless who is POTUS that has never ever worked....and never will. Washington thrives on red herring discussions that take the spot light off the REAL CURRENT issues....always has. btk |

FACT: The law in Hawaii says only the person on the form or someone designated with power of attorney can see the form. In order to 'not release' the information, Obama simply DID NOTHING. Why? IMO, because he was operating under the "I'm not going to dignify that with a response" tactic. Heck, one of the leaders of the 'birther' movement made claims that Obama's grandmother said he was born in Kenya and it turns out she never said that - he just MADE IT UP. He needed to expend exactly $0 to simply let Hawaii operate according to the law. Trump, OTOH, wouldn't answer a reporter's question yesterday when he was asked what the "interesting things" were that his 'investigators' supposedly 'found'. This is all diversionary CRAP. Like the Republicans said after Bush's win - GET OVER IT. |
