I think Specteron was just being a mite surprised.
This place has rules pretty much like the place we lived in before. It really is VERY nice once you acclimate to the change. You can put signs on your cart bumper if you like. Just keep in mind that about 75% are Republican here and.... well you know...... Sometimes the Obama stickers...well seemed to disappear. You can't put for sale signs in your yard here either...but you can in SOME areas, not all, North of 466. Dalmations next to fire hydrants, ditto. The rules changed it appears as the Morse family went along and absorbed information. The Villages is built Northeast to South. You can see the changes as you drive through. There isn't a bad area because I think all of this place is just beautiful. And you can choose to live in an area that allow for sale signs in your yard. Not sure about campaign signs. I read all of Specterons posts and she is a nice person. |

Regarding the thread title: Thank goodness!!
They're not allowed outside where we live, but you can place them on the inside of a window. |

I find it very refreshing to think that I am move somewhere that will not be littered with signs. I find them very annoying and not just campaign signs; all signs. They always seem to get put up but never taken down around here and after a rain storm or two and some wind they are just plain nasty!

Oh, this thread reminded me of another thing I love about TV. No yard signs! They are such an eyesore in otherwise nice neighborhoods.

Campaign signs not allowed in yards in T.V. = Reason #1,037 why T.V. is a great place to live.

Another reason....

Maybe reason # 1038........ Not many people here in T.V. think it appropriate to try and change my mind on politics, religion, and life choices, etc. and it turn, I don't try and change their minds! Too much important stuff here to keep me occupied....Pickleball, Golf, Cards, Pools, TOTV, etc. The Villages motto, implicitly, is "Live and let live...life is short!" |

now if we could only keep the politicians off tv until the last week before election.........

What if a person is selling their house, and on all sides the neighbors have put bunches of Obama signs that have then been countered by three times as many Perry, Romney, Bachmann or Palin signs?? It would make me leery of buying in a neighborhood seemingly content with being at war like that. |

I'm not sure how accurate this is, I've had a Herbert Hoover sign in my yard for two years and nobody has said a word.........Ok course , no one talks to me so that could have some bearing on it........
Happy day are here again fumar..........:spoken:..:agree: |

Courts all across the land are ruling that local ordinances or prohibitions against political campaign signs or campaigning in general are unconstitutional. They've ruled that the American political process is the purest form of freedom of speech. The principal is that office seekers have a limited window in which to tell voters what they stand for and that local restrictions have a chilling effect on our representative form of government.
Think about it, no yard signs, no billboards, no television ads, no radio ads. How will we know who the good guys are and who the bad guys are? The voter cop-out is "they're all bad guys." We know that's not true. No door to door, no contact with the office seeker, how will we know who to vote for? How will we know who represents our own personal philosophies and morals and who doesn't? In countries where there is no political process, there are dictators and ayatollahs running things. Be careful about revelling too much in the fact that The Villages doesn't allow office seekers to contact the voters. Which do you want to do away with first, yard signs? Television commercials? Radio ads? Billboards? Bumper Stickers? Newspaper Ads? When was the last time you went to a town meeting to hear the candidates speak? I've noticed that the developer has no problem bringing candidates inside the Villages boundries. You try it and see what happens. Outlaw too many of our freedoms and we may end up with something that we didn't bargain for. I personally can put up with it for 90 days every two or four years. I feel it's my investment in our country. |
