Beware of the Whacker!
Wasn't sure whether to laugh or flinch today. Saw a guy driving a golf cart carrying a kid's baseball bat. Whenever he went by someone with their knee sticking out, he would lean out and hit the knee. You could hear him cackle when he connected. To say a few drivers were startled would be putting it mildly but their knees did seem to stay in their carts after going by this "gentleman." So, if you're a knee-sticker-outer, beware of The Whacker! Who knows where or when he will strike again.

I would have to say that he will be the cause of an accident. Personally I would report him to the police. Anyone who sees him in action let the police know.
|
He might not be making to much noise if he goes by me. You would know him for sure,, he would be the one with the Kids baseball bat sticking out his ***$%#$. And you would know me, I would be the one one with the real loud cackle.. :rant-rave:

I find your story hard to believe. No one that he hit chased down this guy? You saw it and didn't call the cops? If two carts are traveling at 20MPH in opposite
directions that is like getting whacked with a bat at 40MPH and would surely hurt a lot even if it was plastic which I assume it was. Oh, why the heck would you laugh???? |

It seems like men are the knee-sticker-outers. I cannot recall a single woman with her knee sticking out of a golf cart. Would like to know more about the Whacker. Such practical jokers could cause a lot of damage to other drivers and their golf carts. |
see somthing say somthing
He should have been reported to police. he could have caused someone to be hurt or killed in an accident..
|
Hope it was a plastic bat!!
Not to worry - just wear a leg/shin guard. BRING IT!! :1rotfl: But on the serious side, someone's going to confront that guy at some point.....and it probably won't be pretty! Bill :) |

You're new Joe.... hang around. There will be more. :loco: IMHO |
Sounds like a wacky whacker to me.:crap2::icon_wink:
|
I don't stick my knee out, but now I am going to start all the time. Hit me and I will own you and all of yours. Hope you had a great time living in the Village for I will be enjoying all that you have worked and saved for.
|
I think that's terrible that someone is hurting people while driving their cart. Who does that to people??? This is sick! Please report him. I'll be down in 2 weeks. He'd better not wack my knee.....I will now refrain.
|
Just curious...why do some guys do that?

Of course The Whacker was totally wrong to be hitting people's knees. But there are still a few narrow paths remaining, and narrow tunnels, where it is disconcerting to see a cart approaching with a knee sticking out the side. Thank you to Blueash for explaining about entrapped body parts, LOL.

My reaction to original post was that the guy was carrying a plastic bat and he was doing it as some kind of joke that is not funny.

I think someone should let him know before he hits someone and injures them seriously. It could cause an accident! |
If it was April 1st today, I'd think it was...
|
Me thinkith that this charactor is in need of some serious help! He should also be singing the following, if he's not already doing so, while changing the lyrics a bit to fit his situation:
They're Coming To Take Me Away :loco: Quote:

About the Whacker
Hey Figmo, Who is this "morales" you talk about someone imposing on you? Is he some Mexican guy?

I was going to respond to Figmo until I saw this post from zonerboy so I'll just say......... "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!" |

Cuidado, Morales no tiene moralidad! :loco: |
This is a strange little thread. A guy who thinks it's funny to assault people?
Now I've got to watch for this guy? I was already busy keeping an eye out for angry ladies with squirt guns :) |

Gracie, you hit the nail oon the head -- it was a plastic bat. It was definitely a stupid move on his part, but, from what I saw, no one was hurt, there was no sudden swerving by anyone. I can't say it was the smartest thing I'd ever seen but it certainly wasn't the most harmful. Maybe I should have called the police, maybe one of the three men I saw got whacked did. I didn't simply because I didn't even think of it.

Still would like to know when and where this was? Did you get a color of the golf cart the Whacker was using? Perhaps it had some kind of identifying characteristics? |
I think we need to check Snopes on this story...perhaps plastic patella whacker would be the key words for the search.
|
Where did this happen? What did the driver look like? What make and color of the cart? Anything stand out on the cart? license plate, flags, make or model? More info please, before I make my mind up if this is real or fake.

He must not be aware of Florida's Stand Your Ground Law!

Methinks the original poster is toying with all of us:wave:
|
Nope, not toying with you. It really happened yesterday around 5:00 pm. All I saw was the back of the cart -- medium blue, blue and white striped Sunbrella around top, a U.S. flag attached to basket. The driver was pretty tall but really didn't see much of his features, some sort of tattoo on his left forearm.
This happened on the path between 466 and Polo Ridge, the one that runs parallel to the golf course under all the trees. It is a pretty narrow path, so maybe this guy had had to play dodge 'em with knees in the past. I have no idea and I certainly didn't plan to find out. |
I still have doubts about this story but if true the man is committing assault and battery and would be arrested under the criminal code and liable in a civil suit.
