Katie Belles - food sucks
 

Nice place, love the entertainment BUT the food really sucks, anyone agree? I think they should get a new cook.

To me it's your typical bar food! We had Christmas dinner there in 2010 and it was really bad. The only thing decent to us is the ribs. Wish they offered a baked potato. I can always be satisfied with a baked potato when everything else is not to my liking!

We have been going there for 10 years and the food has never been any good, but you are right the entertainment is great and I love the atmosphere of the place.

Agree about their lunches and dinners but their breakfasts are decent.

"Katie Belle's food sucks." or something along those lines is the subject of this thread.

How's Cattle Baron's? Have not been to Katie Belle's for about two years. The last time we went to Cattle Baron's it was good. Not as good as Bone Fish Grill but OK.

Used to like the pizzas sold at Katie Belle's. We would go their more for the music than anything else though.

We've taken guests to KB's because of the atmosphere. Love to watch the couples dancing - there are some darn good dancers in TV - wish I could move like them. Also enjoy the entertainment. Food - not the greatest, but OK.

Go to Katie Belles for the ambience,great place to dance,drink, and party.The food, is what it is,nothing to write home about.But what would you expect at the cut rate prices they charge...............you get what you pay for.

WE only go to Katie Belles for the Value breakfeast...hard to beat it, the food is good plus the $.88 Bloody Marys are not bad either. In fact Its cheaper to go to Katie belles for breakfeast than McDonalds !!!!!

What a shame the food is so bad , however, I don't see that changing as they do pack the place because of the entertainment ,so no need to do any better with the food quality I guess....... Went there with a neighborhood group of ladies ( 22 total) and NONE of us liked our meal. Tried again a few months later, same sad thing....Too bad...

KB was soooo much better when it was open to the public! the food got bad as time goes on................................................ ...:yuck:

Wife and I went to Bonifay this morning for their brunch...!!! The food was really good, especially the omelet bar. Staff all nice and efficient. Just a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a meal. Check it out!!!

I will definitely have to try Bonifay when I am in TV next month as it wasn't open yet the last time I was in TV 8 months ago. Thank you for the recommendation. :wave:

Have to agree that overall their food is substandard, but i really do like their value breakfasts (Monday thru Friday only, not a fan of their breakfast buffet on the weekends).

About 5 years ago I met some folks for a night of dancing. I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. You with think that it would be difficult to mess up a chicken sandwich but katie did it. I have never been back

Katie Belles food is bar food, the entertainment makes it worth going. For a better meal Cattle Baron is the place to go and you can still see and hear the entertainment.

i am surprised that so many think the food is awful...granted, it is not a gourmet restaurant, but for a bite i have enjoyed their burgers, the stuffed flounder dinner and the pork roast marsala just recently...i usually go early so that i have a table when the music starts and the place is always full of happy customers, so they must be doing something right besides the bands.

When I worked downtown at Spanish Springs I used to meet my mother at KB for lunch - we never had a meal that was unacceptable - maybe not always wonderful - but a perfectly fine affordable lunch for a meal on the square. And where else can you go and hear live entertainment at lunch time? I also enjoy dinner at Cattle Barrons - there again - not gourmet but for $9.99 (now maybe a little more until this summer) including a salad bar (such as it is) we always have a good time - and the drink prices are great. Maybe I just enjoy a meal that I don't have to prepare at home.

I also had the brunch at Bonifay the other day and loved it! Good omelet station, biscuits and gravy, and plenty of fresh fruit.

We've always found the food to be OK, not bad enough to send back but not good enough to brag about. It is pretty typical bar food.

Love the word "sucks" when describing food at a restaurant. Really describes what is going on.:shrug:

as long as the people show up for the dancing the food can stay soso, its when they stop coming that the food will change. Maybe someone that works there will read this and try to improve the food.:shrug:

Maybe Chef Ramsey can be invited to do a show there!

Was there last Saturday evening.I had the steak special .Sirloin for $10.99.Believe it or not,it was excellent.Cooked just right-tender-juicy-no complaints here.

We ate at Cattle Baron's several times this winter and found the food to be just average at best. It seem inconsistent. Without the entertainment we would not go there. Personally, I think the whole place could use an update.

Both Katie Belles and Cattle Baron are low average for food. If you want really good food, you do not go to those places.

My all out favorite is Lopez Country Club. Great service and excellent food and drinks.

Katie Belle's reviews are fairly good on the Villages Gourmet Club site.
 

Both Cattle Baron and Katie Bells is affordable. I wouldn't want it to be like Nancy Lopez CC as it would be too expensive to frequent.
The part I dislike the most about Katie Bells is when you come down from eating at the Cattle Baron and they want to charge a minimum drink charge to get a table to sit at. I do love the entertainment though and it is not always on the stage! :-P

They could remedy that if you'd be willing to pay more. Honestly I love their breakfasts and their lunches are acceptable. For the prices they charge I think it's a bargain. If you are going for the food, then go someplace else, but most probably go for the entertainment.

I went to Katie Bells with a friend one evening. The music was unbelievably
loud. When asked if I wanted a table, I said no, "the music is too loud"! I can't imagine people eating and enjoying any kind of food with the music being so loud. (So I never got to try the food.)

It's enough to make a person take up drinking! So, maybe that's why the music is loud?

have to agree food is awful. Last time we ate there (four of us) I had to send shrimp back. It was rock hard. Then they sent out a fresh one. I knew the shrimp had sat in back for sometime. How dare they even try to serve it to someone?? Someone else may Not have spoken up. I do. And someone mentioned you get what you pay for. the pizza at dinner time you can do better with frozen from supermarket. Also $7.00 for a slice of cake is NOT reasonable and should be absolutely delicious for that price and its an average piece of carrot cake. They most likely are more concerned with selling drinks then pleasing the diners. Better quality is needed if they want customers to return.

We have been going to CB and KB's for about six years on and off. We have never had a bad meal and always enjoy the music. For all you get, it's a GREAT time for a reasonable price.

First time posting. Coming from the North and spending quite a bit more money for my food, we have always found no problem at Katie Bells and The Cattle Baron is also quite good. I think we will always have complainers wherever we go. But let me remind you that you are also getting great entertainment and HH for the little $$ you are spending. Always give a restaurant 2 or 3 tries because you never know what's going on that day.

My husband and I had dinner with a show, Charo, she was good food was awful. Wil never go again.

We found the breakfast buffett to be very good.

TOTALLY agree about the atmosphere & entertainment at KB's. Only ate dinner at KB's once. Won't do it again. What they call lasagna is the worst I've ever, EVER eaten. Yuck! Have eaten at Cattle Baron's a couple of times. Not the best food in the world, but drinks are excellent & the service was excellent as well.
