Right wants everyone to pay a little for services.Left wants everyone but them to pay for services. That's the long and short of it.

the words 'fair share' are tossed about so nonchantly; and i have never seen anyone define what that amount would be. i can't even figure out what MY fair share might be! so if you can tell me what you think yours is, it would give me a start to better identify what my fair share would be.

Here's a fact.I had fund raiser for someone in need.Know how much my friends on the left gave? Zip, See this time and time again over the years.And the funny thing most of them have money one was a vp for a major airline but donate their
own very rare. I know some will be upset but I think surveys show the left gives far less.Example is Our Pres.and VP

Sentence makes no sense to me. Most left leaning people pay just as much taxes as the right leaners; unless, that is, either can afford an army of tax lawyers. Then they probably pay 13.7 percent or less in annual taxes.

I wonder how much in taxes these billionaires who are grossly affecting our political campaigns with their negative ads through PACs (on both sides) pay in taxes?

:bowdown: I think what you are getting at is that TOO MANY on the left pay nothing and we need to reduce the "give away" government programs so they will go out and get a job. There is no incentive to get a job if I can draw $400.00 a week for sitting on my butt for two years. Any reasonable person can see that doesn't make sense. If I can draw more government money by having more children than I can afford---that makes no sense. Need I say more? Well, there is a lot more but no time for it here! :cus:

Let me add to that.

The right believes in rugged individualism, self reliance, personal responsibility, smaller less intrusive government, life, the free market and the Constitution as written.

The left believes in cradle to grave statism, higher taxes, more regulation, abortion and ever expanding centralized government command and control.

That's the choice in Nov.

Not a whole lot of jobs out there to get at the moment. What are Mitt Romney's plans with respect to welfare? I had heard that he plans to require welfare recipients to work for their checks? How can they do that though if there are no jobs available?

Well, just offhand, I’ve got one big difference.

It's apparently acceptable for the left to lie about the right.

Whether you’re talking about The NY Times , the Washington Post or, say, The Daily Kos, it’s considered acceptable to lie about the right.

As Charles Krauthammer famously said: “To understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil.”

Since the left thinks the right evil they tend to think it okay to use tactics that can be described as “evil” to fight them. If you’re up against people you compare to Nazis, it’s simple to tell yourself that lying to beat them isn’t too bad.

Since the right thinks they’re up against people that are too stupid to know what’s really going on, they feel compelled to try to explain themselves a little bit better.

So... what does the left believe?

No once can say Obama believes is any of these. He's said so himself. He sure never talks about any of them.

Both sides have PAC ads which seem very inaccurate with respect to facts. It is like we are not determining who is going to run the US but rather which pizza to buy.

Well, I am sure the poster realizes the "self reliance, personal responsibility, and free market" worked well in Spring Hill, TN, with GM and Saturn. The town was pretty reliant on the Saturn plant and then GM closed it because people were not buying their product. It hurt Spring Hill greatly by knocking several hundred people out work at the plant as well as all the trickle down money from them to other businesses.

Is that one closing and it's effect, the same kind of disaster magnified thousands of times the same thing you would have wished upon the auto industry if Pres. Obama had not provided money to the auto industry?

ever notice how many of the Obama supporters (not just this forum) always choose to be in the attack mode? They wait for one of us to post then instead of discussing what was posted will immediately begin to discredit where ever possible. They will attack the resource quoted, they will attack the author, they will attack the individual, they will throw a dozen other issues in that have nothing to do with the post and of course the ever present cutesy (they think) name calling.

The next time one actually answers a direct question or offers something constructive in a DISCUSSION will be the first time.

How about a simple example? How many times has it been asked if some one is here from another country and they are here illegally, is that OK? Simple enough question....never gets an answer.
Or how about the question of if someone is not a valid voter and they are registered (somehow...like the dead) are you OK with that. Never an answer.

And so on and on.

How about I give you another glaring difference between the left and right side of the ideological aisle.

Conservatives, or the right, are more patriotic than liberals.

Conservatives are more apt to focus on the positive things about America. Liberals, in contrast, focus on the negative.

If the first thoughts that come to your mind when you are asked about America are “slavery”, or maybe “imperialistic,” or the lament of our history of “unfairly using too much of the world’s resources,” you are probably not a proud American.

Conservatives, in comparison, remember how we saved the world in WWI and WWII, and take pride in the innumerable ways we've contributed so much to the planet, and believe America has had a tremendous positive impact on history.

The conservative view produces love of country. The other view produces a deep seated dislike of our nation.

This is also why Conservatives are happier than Liberals.

There is no difference between them. They both are out to line their pockets and to hell with the rest of us.

I never lie. Here's another example.Over the years my american legion post will vist Hines V A Hosp. and go to spinal cord injury ward.We bring tee shirts, socks,tooth paste etc also money and play bingo make sure each and everyone of them gets some money.Want to know how many from the left over the years have come?Count them on 1 hand. We also on thanks giving bus recruits from great lakes naval base for a day .We feed them have a shuttle bus take them a movie or bowling and we film this and send a dvd to their parents.again other then 1 couple not many from the left have come.I have invited plenty to come and help all no shows.Even when my son went in the army I could tell the difference between the two.Response from most dems how could you let him do that I would never let our child do that.From the right ,You must be proud or how nice I will pray for him etc.

This is a fun thread for me. Here's another one. Conservatives are results oriented, Liberals are not.

There's one constant to remember about liberals. Liberalism is nothing more than childlike feelings applied to adult issues.

This is why liberals don’t care or worry very much about whether the programs they advocate work or not.

Proposing government programs isn’t really about actually helping people; it’s about making Liberals feel good about themselves. It's not the results that matter, but the thought behind it that counts to Liberals.

On the other hand, conservatives are totally results oriented. This is why Conservatives tend to be so down on government programs, which are inevitably slower, more expensive, and less effective than the private sector at pretty much everything.

but haven't we heard obama tout month after month that the economy is growing and jobs are being created? so if jobs ARE available, why haven't those folks been hired into those jobs?

He's talking about Brazil's economy where he is sending taxpayers money and creating new jobs for them. I mean all countries look the same to him none are exceptional and they really should all run together. i think it is referred to as internationalism

Especially around election time. The Republican's I know personally would go barf if they read the extremist right wing views on this forum. So give righties a second look in the real world and not just those in here and you will find some fine upstanding folks.

We were first of the new year in 1975 in chicago to get are license to be wed,but not really.Back then they made a big deal about being first of the new year.Are pictures were on the front page of all four news papers and also all the major local tv stations filmed the event.We had went early but not that early as others who had camped out to be first.When we walked in city hall a older gentlemen tugged at my arm and asked are you here to get a marriage license? Yes I said and he said follow me and into the elevator we went.The man was the press secretary for the cook county clerk.As we were going up I said the line was long how could we be first?His reply was we were the first white couple.I was shocked but went anyway.To this day I feel I should have came clean when the press was there but didn't.Now this man may have done this on his own but I think his boss told him what they wanted.This is when I learned how dishonest the Democratic party in chicago was.They are the party of the minorities but they didn't want them on the news.Now I'm sure I will get blasted again but sometimes the truth hurts.
