I hate Comcast!

Venting...........I'm satisfied with the comcast product. I have TV, internet, phone. Everything is working fine here. My mother who lives just out side the Villages lost service last night. Since 9:30 this morning I have been trying to get it fixed. ( started with someone in the Philippines ) Finally about 1 o'clock they promise someone would be there before 5. Right! They lied. I'm exhausted and had to finally take a Xanax to calm down. I don't have the energy left today to list the run around I went through. The only way you can get someone to talk to is if you choose the option to add services! Nothing else works. Right now I'm on hold for 15 minutes and still waiting. They advertise 24/7 service.....BS, try to get it!

I can say for certain that Comcast customer service is by far...by far the worst in the world. All of you comcast subscribers know what I mean. If anyone thinks they know of a worse customer service dept. than Comcast I would like to know. barf

Thanks for that info, I used every avenue available today and as of 15 min. ago the problem was taken care of. Local technician sent a signal to her box and all is fine. Should this have taken 9 hours of runaround and aggravation??? Ruined my whole day and the cancellation department will hear from me Monday.

Thank goodness for Xanax ;) Had a beer with it, works great !

Billyworld 01-12-2013 07:25 PM

I hate Comcast also

While being self employed for close to forty years, I have dealt with businesses that were good and some not so good. After owning a house in TV and dealing with Comcast, I truly have to say they are the most pathetic Company that I have ever done business with in my life. They have the worst service of any Company that provides Internet and cable. I have had more issues in the past couple years than I have had in my entire life with other Companies. It takes them the longest time of any other Company to make it right. I feel yor pain, unfortunately they don't allow Brighthouse into our area.Agaain, I feel your pain.

Thoroughly agree with you! Maybe we should start up a "hate comcast" club...!

You'd have to rent the polo fields to hold meetings.

Dr Winston O Boogie jr 01-12-2013 08:03 PM

I love Comcast. There products and services are the best in the industry. As far as customer service goes, I'm afraid that what you re describing is pretty much standard for most high tech industries and most big corporations these days. have you ever had to deal with any of the cell phone companies. They are a step below used car dealerships.
Big box retail? Talk to the people who work for them who get calls on a regular basis telling them to not come in for their shift because it's a slow day.
Most industries care only about the bottom line and how much they can make TODAY. Customer service and customer retention, building relationships with customers and employees have gone the way of the rotary dial telephone.
BTW, I lived in the Philippines for a year and call centers are the biggest industry over there. Almost everyone there speaks English, some better than others and minimum wage is about $1.15 per hour. Any one wondering why so many call centers are located over there?

l2ridehd 01-13-2013 08:11 AM

The club we need to start is the HOW TO ELIMINATE COMCAST club. There service is the worst possible and they keep raising the price. If I could figure out how to not use them I would. I am fine with Direct TV for that part, Ooma works great for the phone, but have yet to come up with an alternative for the internet.

There has to be a set of products that is lower cost, better service and doesn't raise the price every other week.

There is. It is called Bright House Networks. Unfortunately, the developer gave the right of way to Comcast.

I agree. I have seen my husband who is rarely, rarely upset about anything about ready to blow a fuse. Equally so a neighbor who is a calm individual, drivin to great frustration by Comcast.

graciegirl 01-13-2013 08:42 AM

Vented. . Erased. Feel better. Good to have a great day.

Canabarrybarb 01-13-2013 08:45 AM

I can't count the days of my life that have been wasted by Comcast incompetence.

What is the alternative to Comcast?

Gene & Kathy,
TVers in 2013

kittygilchrist 01-13-2013 08:48 AM

Ok, somebody shoot holes in this before I arrive at my new villages home april 1....
planning to use direct tv with recorders for TV ($90 for one unit), ATT for internet
($40), and magic jack for phone, (can't remember, paid annually, $65 a year?). costs are about what I currently pay, and i live an hour north of TV.

Alternative is DirecTV and CenturyLink for internet. CenturyLink has 10M/bs and is plenty fast for streaming. Most folks don't need anything faster than that.

DirecTV has better programming than Comcast in my opinion.

We don't have a home phone; haven't had one for over 10 years...use the cellphones... With the Verizon Share Everything plan, you get unlimited talk...

There are alternatives . . .

GordyM 01-13-2013 09:09 AM

I would love to have Google Fiber (https://fiber.google.com/about/) installed through out The Villages.

Jim 9922 01-13-2013 09:32 AM

Stuck with Comcast is the only bad thing about living North of Hy 466!

2BNTV 01-13-2013 11:04 AM

I have the same deal with Optimum up in CT. Their products are great but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I feel like I'm talking to a robot when I ask a question and can almost predict what their answer will be.

Customer service idea of a solution is to load Firefox for my e-mail as they didn't know why it stopped working with IE9. HUH?

Everything is fine as long as I pay my bill and keep my mouth shut

I'm not in love with Comcast but I am satisfied with their product and yes I've dealt with them all and I stand by my statement " Comcast by far has the worst customer service of all"

Comcast Customer Service, what an oxymoron.

njbchbum 01-14-2013 12:26 AM

i dunno...i'm with Dr Winston O Boogie jr - have no probs w/comcast product or service!

perhaps i just have lower needs, desires and expectations.

what television programming do you folks watch anyway? is there anything worthwhile beyond news?

joycesmith2320 01-14-2013 09:13 AM

Comcast gets my vote for worse company I ever dealt with - Only use them for TV -
CenturyLink is decent for telephone and the best for internet service is the Verizon MiFi -
It's about the size of a cell phone, no wires and you can take it anywhere including the car- I got a second one for our rental property and the renters loved it -

mikeandnancy1112 01-14-2013 12:39 PM

We are very happy with Comcast. Customer service is very dependable.

No problem with my service at all. My 92 yr old mothers service went out Friday night and it took me until late Sat. afternoon to get it corrected. Was lied to and got a runaround that is to exhausting for my two finger typing to list. Like I said, I like their product ( wish it was cheaper ) but try to get someone to talk to with any phone option except to order more services, then and only then was I able to get a human ( use that term lightly) to talk to and then it was only marginally better than talking to a machine. Any time you get to a brick wall in your attempt to get service you have to start over from the beginning, over and over and over..........................and over.
Fortunately I haven't needed much service and obviously you haven't either, your lucky.

rubicon 01-14-2013 12:55 PM

I have had the opportunity to contact Debbie Brainard and she is doing an outstanding job. She was johnnie on the spot with ever detail of my concerns. I will wager that she will have any disruptions smoothed out in no time. Keep in mind this company is growing leaps and bounds

complaints about TV/Internet/Phone companies is universal.

I happen to like ComCast. They have responded well to my concerns questions, etc.

i have heard as many other complaints about competing companies

Sanibel7 01-14-2013 04:29 PM

About 2 weeks after having comcast installed with the DVR, the DVR started to act up. I had recorded and watched many programs and then it started having intermitting problems. While watching a program I had recorded all of a sudden DVR services are not provided call comcast. We did and they were no help. Turned everything off for a half hr. then its ok. It could be 4 hrs or 3 days but this is a continuing problem. Cannot get in touch with comcast since. Using up my cell phone minutes for them just to discconect me after 10min of waiting to talk to someone. Anyone else have this problem?

It sounds like I2ridehd and others should start up a new company and make a fortune. I just switched back to Comcast from Century Link, hope I didn't make a mistake.

billjay23 01-14-2013 06:03 PM

Regarding comcast service: contack Debbie Brainerd at Debbie_Brainard@cable.comcast.com.

If you don't write her and describe your problem you have no one to blame but yourself. Right after her availability was announced we had a service problem involvin whole house DVR. She had service people here immediately -- the problem persisted and so did I -- eventually she had a district supervisor in my house; he and a tech were here three times and the complex problem was eventually solved. Subsequenty we had a billing problem and I presented it to her and asked that someone who really knew the system call to help me. Within hours I was on the phone with "an expert" who took care of me and called me a few days later to ask if I was satisfied!

She was set up to expedite because of the complaints about customer service -- I know that we are satisfied and that we know where to go for help if something else comes up.

It costs you nothing to contact her.

lightworker888 01-14-2013 06:17 PM

We have had no problem with Comcast or the customer service. I had to take the box in to exchange a DVR and except having to wait a bit in line the service was fine. We get it turned on and off as we come and go and it is started up when we get back. I guess we have been lucky and hopefully it will continue!

Does anyone know which of these e-mail addresses is correct for Debbie?

UpNorth 01-14-2013 06:59 PM

If you think Comcast is bad, you should try Charter Cable (worst service in USA according to Consumer Reports). Luckily, I have ATT U-Verse back home, and it is probably the best. Unfortunately, The Villages does not have fiberoptic cables, and no telephone poles to install V-Rad boxes onto. So we are stuck with old fashioned copper cable or satellite dishes. If they really wanted to sell Brownwood to the young buyers, they would be installing some technology there. Looks like they will be forever stuck in the 80's too (just like the rest of us).

au contrare! arrived in the villages and comcast internet was not functioning...made a call...waited a few mins...tech chris came on the line...had me up in running in as much time as it took for the old laptop to boot up each time chris had me do something different...he was knowledgeable, polite and patient with the lagging laptop! he also informed me that i should visit the local office here to pick up a new modem which will provide me the speed i am paying for!

after the superstorm that hit the jersey shore i called cust serv to report an 8 day service outage and the rep quickly confirmed same and issued a credit to our account. there was no doubt, no confrontation and no need to speak with a supv - just quick, polite service.

go figure!

Bare, my "educated" guess would be this one: Debbie_Brainard@cable.comcast.com given that it ends in "dot com". I don't know that I've ever seen an e-mail address ending in something other than "dot com", "dot org", etc.

If you type it rather than copy it, make sure to use an underscore character between her first and last name rather than a space.

Bill :)
