You can no longer look at Pre-Owned Homes on TV's Website
the website has changed you no longer can look at the pre-owned homes by the villages one by one or new additions...now you get the open houses...hope this will change soon..i like it the old way
|
looks like that could send folks running to mls websites!
|
I saw that today too and I do not like it. Always looked at new listing for used homes to tell my sister. Now you haven to go thru hoops to find the listings. Please change it. Not everyone is interested in new homes.
|
I check the website daily like others do and at this time I am not sure they have created a better option to search for a home than before. I have just tried the new search and after looking at a home and you click "return to search results" it takes you to the main villages website where you have to start all over again, what a mess!
Hope they sort it out soon... |

It will cause folks to go to outside realtor instead of using villages to sell (or buy). Obviously, TV is trying to sell new over the preowned. It's too difficult to get to where you want to view with this new search engine.
|
They want to sell pre-owned. That's all there will be to sell within 15-18 months, and TV Sales is not going to let that majority market share go to others.
It's likely more of a web design and IT dept. design change....you know.....the non-talking people who do the programming but have never had to use it as a salesperson or consumer. |

The new website is very difficult to navigate, the photos are terrible and hard to see. When you finally get to a category of interest, the street address pops up but not the village. Still haven't been able to find new listings. They need a new web designer.
|
It sucks............... Somebody wants to sell those new homes fast............

I betcha a lot of peeps will complain and it'll get fixed PDQ! |
Appears to me they just combined the websites. Not really that hard to navigate, but you do need click more than one button. For someone searching for both new and pre-owned it saves going back and forth between websites.
|
And to think they paid someone to make this change. I would never have questioned going to VLS when I was ready to sell, now I will go to MLS. Don't they test market things before implementation?
|
New Web Site is difficult because it's new. When you've been using the old one for years it will definitely take some time to get used to. I know it's still being worked on also because IF you click on the property maps to check a description you get a computer error message.
|
Just click on "Search Homes" on TheVillages.com and they're all there. You can see the new, pre-owned, or both at once and you can still search by price, model, etc. The site is actually easier to use than the previous version IMHO.

Boy, I think this is a very poorly designed site. It is uneccesarily complex doesn't navigate easily and thephotos are not good. I wonder what they are thinking?

The only problem I had was through my own failure to notice the "Search Homes" link on the home page. I took a path less traveled to the same "search" page through a lower link on the same homepage! I had to take a nap after all that traveling! http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/z...miley_yawn.gif |
It's terrible. There used to be a link to newly listed pre-sales, now there is not. I hope they add it back.
There is still a link to newly released new homes. Hmmm... Coincidence? I think not. |
This new way to see preowned homes is the stoopidist thing We have seen in a while. It is unusable the way we have always used it. We must all complain to the realty company! LB
|
Maybe they are pushing the new homes and driving all the pre-owned homes sales to local agents or Zillow. Which when I am ready to search Looks like I'll Skip this now useless format for pre-owned homes.. Either way I do it the 1/4 to half million homes pop right up. Zillow easier anyway, shows where they at in the villages that are available for sale you just click on the red house in the village you want to look at.

I saw the post on Zillow, never thought of that. But it's a great option:coolsmiley: |

I don't like it at all. I like to go through the home sot see if there is something that I might be interested in. My brother might also be interested in moving here and I like to look at homes for him.
In fact, this is how I bought my house. I was living overseas and went on the website. I contacted sales and gave them a list of about ten houses that I wanted to see. I came here for a week and an agent brought me around and showed me the houses that I listed. He actually showed me one more home after we looked at the ones that I had already decided to look at and I bought that one. I wonder why they did this. It makes no sense. |
i have used the website for many years...i could go online hit new preowned..and in minutes see what was listed...pictures were clear.in and out.....yes the new site does tell you the model...but if i wanted to spend 15 minutes to look at the preowned just listed i would use an mls...just saying

Actually, I think this will work well with practice.
I see some key things in using the menu on the left side. - When the page loads, be sure to first choose "Pre-Owned" under "Search" expanded. - Pre-owned ones then come up unfiltered. Choose filtering criteria in the left-side menu, by home type, series, price range, etc. **Expand the filtering criteria header by clicking the minus sign beside it. - Choose Village near the bottom to filter by village. It's made easier with the box to type in the name of the village you're interested in, instead of scrolling thru the long list. Practice helps.... I think it's important to "Refresh" the search criteria you've chosen, using the Refresh button at the top of the criteria. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...1&d=1379984837 |
To the people who are liking the new site: what you are missing is that they used to have one button to see NEW PRE-OWNED LISTINGS only. Now you have to weed thru all the pre-owned listings to find which ones are new. Extremely tedious! The way we found our house was to only check the new pre-owned listings each day and not get confused with what we've already seen.

When Search Homes page comes up: - Choose "Pre-Owned" Homes under "-Search" - Unfiltered Pre-Owned homes come up - Then, under "-Newest Homes Released" choose "Our Newest Homes:" __ (no. once filtered) When I did that (in photo below) 13 came up, and I looked at them and they say "New Listing" and they are indeed Pre-Owned New Listings. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...1&d=1379989671 |

can I? If not, IMO it is NOT a good change |
Ecactly!

I'm sure The Villages will soon fix the VLS web design .. they must be getting a flood of complaints. And there are a lot of VLS agents who make a lot of money selling pre-owned homes. |
Quote:
On the new site they are listed vertically and you can pull up all the newest pre-owned homes instead of scrolling back and forth. After using it some I think it is a vast improvement over the two old sites. |
I like that you can sort by model name. Actually I like that they've started to include the model name for pre-owned! Yes! That's a good change IMHO.

If anyone from The Villages Web Development/Marketing departments reads this (which is doubtful I know), I would make two suggestions. 1. Under the price criteria add a sort feature for sorting by both high to low price and low to high price. 2. After the street address, list the village the home is in - what village a home is located in is important. For example, on two new preowned listings -- I don't know what villages the listings on Thurman Street or Dalecroft Trail are in until I click on "View Details For VLS#__________." |

I would also think it would be confusing for Newbies to try to find the latest VLS Listings of resale homes! The web design needs to be simple and user friendly. Even if it is a tab under Pre-owned Homes, "our newest homes" doesn't imply "resale homes". |
[QUOTE=Barefoot;751528]I agree .... I think the two most important facts are price, and the village in which the home is located.

On the search page, the preselected radio button is for new homes -- was that done on purpose?? |
I really, really, really don't like change!!!!
