1. Under the price criteria add a sort feature for sorting by both high to low price and low to high price.
Just over to the right of the "sort by" box is an arrow. Click on that and it will change the sort from high to low to low to high.

They could have made it a more prominent color. The pale grey on white background is a bit hard to see.

:agree:
As for newbies, they aren't used to searching the old way so they have no preconceptions. I think they'll find it easier to find what they're looking for - I do.

The hunt closer to purchase time is what the TV sales reps are for. One can't buy a TV listing without a TV rep, so go ahead and call for one.

There are probably 150 of them, and the rep will search for what you want specifically.

When Search Homes page comes up:

- Choose "Pre-Owned" Homes under "-Search"

- Unfiltered Pre-Owned homes come up

- Then, under "-Newest Homes Released" choose "Our Newest Homes:" __ (no. once filtered)

When I did that (in photo below) 13 came up, and I looked at them and they say "New Listing" and they are indeed Pre-Owned New Listings.

Thank you! Now if they would add the village for each house on that list of new listings, it would be great

Within those pre-owned new listing results that come up, you can further filter it by village, using the "Village" choice near the bottom of the list of criteria. There you can type the name of the village to avoid scrolling the long list.

gpirate 09-24-2013 11:49 AM

Very poor for people looking to buy preowned homes. You can no longer find the new listings on a daily basis. Now you have to search through homes by price and much duplication of reviewing homes. Poorly done but I can see why they are doing it as it is now set up to try and sell more new homes. Please change it back at least for the new listings daily.

rtime 09-24-2013 11:54 AM

new site not quite user friendly as old site but you can find out all that you would like to find. One nice thing about it is that you can search by model. Very helpful to see what you are hunting for is being listed in the different villages.

HarrietSmarty 09-24-2013 12:34 PM

Initially I didn't think this change was an improvement, but on closer look, it is improved--the Models are now listed for the pre-owned homes and you can still search by Village.

Try this:
From the Home page under Homes and Villas select "Search Homes" then
Under the expanded "Search" tab, select "Preowned Homes" -- all preowned pop up, then you can select the individual options just as previously available including "Village"
It defaults to "Open Houses" first, but you can easily sort by other options just like before.

Happy searching!

The old system was simple and user friendly. With the new system, it is possible to sort through the listings and eventually find Pre-owned homes by Village; it's just more complicated. And it does seem to be biased toward selling new homes.

Gpirate, I suggest you call the Sales Office and complain. If they get enough negative feedback from prospective Purchasers, they may change it back.

gomoho 09-24-2013 03:26 PM

Once you figure out it works it's okay, but it would be nice if their was a button for "new listings". Make life much easier for those searching.

Aurora 09-24-2013 06:13 PM

It's always a bit difficult to adapt to changes. I like some of the new search options such as by model. However, the pending properties are gone! They used to stay on the site until they closed. Also, courtyard villas are missing from the list although I can find them if I keep refining the search. Maybe "they" will tweak it to cover what folks are missing.

kfierle 09-24-2013 06:17 PM

You can still view preowned pending properties. Just click the box next to Include Pending Homes and they will be visable. It is a bit confusing because that box is below the Both New and Preowned selection.

Courtyard villas are available for viewing on the list. Just click on Villas and you have to select what type of villa. Keys and Cabana villas are vinyl sided. Savannah and Bungalow villas are block and stucco. Not sure about Designer villas.

- :agree: There are additional options to choose from on the new site, making it possible to narrow your search even more.

Topspinmo 09-24-2013 09:01 PM

Just when on the pre-owned villa site... Only showed 2 villa for sale in the villages, yes I used all the filter buttons... It flashed 16 for second then blinked and only showed two. This just bad change :Screen_of_Death:or they are still working the bugs out. Too bad for people out of state looking. Just makes you wonder who all sudden decided the old page wasn't good enough or up to date.:22yikes: maybe the Federal Government mandated this cause it was too easy the old way:loco:

ricthemic 09-24-2013 09:19 PM

Did not read all the post...

But i did go to the sight as others suggested.... there has to be a money reason for changing to this crazy idiotic program. what a waste of time.

On the new site they are listed vertically and you can pull up all the newest pre-owned homes instead of scrolling back and forth.

After using it some I think it is a vast improvement over the two old sites.

No you cannot. I have been following new listings for 6 months. As of 9/22 they were at 214325. Today the lastest listing I could find was 214323. They have been adding average of 7-11 new per day. So today the new listings should be in the 21***7+. Why are they hiding the newest listings?
I will stop looking if this is the way TV operates. Sad management IMHO.

cbh1975, Thank you for pointing this out  I agree that the pale grey on white background is a little hard to see. The web design/marketing department should have asked a few volunteers (non-IT people) to test drive this redesign and solicit suggestions before rolling this out to the public.

Wing-nut2 09-25-2013 06:29 AM

There is a feed back form. Fill it in and tell them to put the ole system back.

Where are preowned Courtyard Villas listed on the new form?

Done this yesterday and it pulled up 214323 as the lastest one. As stated earlier I pulled these up daily and on 9/22 they were at 214325. No new numbers can I find higher than this anywhere. Have not tried today. Maybe there have been no new listings but this is highly unlikely.

Where did you find a feed-back form? Can you post a link? I think it's a great idea for everyone to give feedback, if they can find the form.

Or perhaps just what you'd like to see and what you don't like about the new site. I would hate to see a reversal back to no information on garage size and model of the home.

Today they are up to 21***6. There is no way to know what village a house is in without clicking on each listing and reading about it.

The internet is supposed to be quick, easy and have pertinent information. This new website does none of the above.

I think Your about the only one that likes the new format (did you have something to do with it)(I can't see how the new format is an improvement)... Basically it sucks for us looking to buy and not user friendly. I sure hope they didn't pay someone to screw it up. If so WHAT A WASTE of time and MONEY IMO...

gerryann 09-25-2013 08:35 PM

It's not user friendly and when you can't find what you're looking for, you get frustrated and stop looking.

Bogie Shooter 09-25-2013 08:53 PM

I admit that I did not read all 70 posts.
But has anyone actually called the sales office and discussed the change's?

asianthree 09-25-2013 08:53 PM

glad its not just me..i enjoyed every morning drinking my coffee and looking at the new listed preowned..about five minutes done and out..this morning filter or not..it was twenty minutes out of my life i will never get back...

When TV only has resale's available they will go to MLS . This would open all homes Village wide to them to sell as well. Right now they are able to protect the new homes for their agents to sell exclusively.

I am wondering why they do not list pre owned on MLS and keep New unlisted ?

Cheers

ajbrown 09-26-2013 05:51 AM

I must say .. site looks ok to me

I just saw the changes this morning, I might use the site once a month so no expert on old format, but IMO, I like the new format more. I like being able to use the left pane to select a price range and see how many are available by village, then select on a village and see just those homes. OMG, I can tell if the ones that meet my criteria have a golf cart garage in the search pane.....

One enhancement I wish all search sites would have is a map view, i.e., put in price, see all homes in The Villages that fit that criteria on a zoom-able map. That allows me to select ones I want details of based on location, e.g., main roads, golf course, etc.

Just type in to your search engine:

The Villages Florida Trulia

You will get a slew of homes for sale.......

You can also use TRULIA for any other town or city or state......

p.s. For what it's worth, The Villages website had homes "still for sale" that had already been SOLD.

p.s. 2:
Also.....where before you could "share" from computer to computer the "video" of the home for sale, during the past few months that feature DID NOT WORK AT ALL. I'm talking about pre owned homes in THE VILLAGES. I'm sure the folks trying to sell, for whatever reason, would like as many of us to see their homes online...........

For those who know which village they'd like to be in.......and where no new building is occurring, pre owned is the only way to go. People have already spent bundles on luxury features and at least one can SEE what they would be getting rather than imagine and hope for the best.

We also liked the aerial views to see what was NEARBY.

senior citizen 09-26-2013 06:43 AM

The Villages - Florida's Friendliest Retirement Hometown

I didn't see a "feedback" section.
However, I did see a "contact us" section.....click on hyperlink above...or type it in.

I just knew that wouldn't work. The area I sent it from is not what shows up.

However, at the bottom of the link above............just click "contact us" .
On my screen it originally came from pre owned homes and at the bottom it said "contact us".

spoke to my rep today...he knows the two things everyone wants back is the map so you can see the property...and the select new listed preowned...for those who just want to see what was listed today without going thru everything...yep people have called that are trying to buy a house...yes they can find you a home...but both houses we bought i found on line...and said i want that one...rep did not have either on their list to show us ..the newly listed preowned site for someone who is out of state was the way to find a home and buy online if you needed to..I do like the virtual tour but as i told him this morning I do not have the time to spend 20 minutes weeding thru every preowned...he asked if i contacted a mls agent because of this told him honestly yes so the rep said....yes they are aware...is it going to change...not sure

graciegirl 09-26-2013 08:49 AM

I think it is a bit 'bunglesome" and not as easy as we were used to. I think, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Seems they could have used the same format and added further search features such as color of cabinets, golf cart garage, etc.

I think those smart techies that set up these kinds of programs are not on the same wave length as ummm...well "normal" people. lol.:1rotfl:
